  • "We have just had a great holiday at The Old Bridge Inn."

The house is very cosy and warm. All the bedrooms are beautifully decorated, we loved the animal themes. The beds are comfy and it was great to have two upstairs bathrooms as well as a downstairs WC. We liked the dining kitchen, which was very well equipped and especially liked the big dining table. Chris the owner was very helpful. It was good to have a parking space and also have the backyard at the back of the house. We would definitely recommend, it is a really good place to stay and we hope to return.

  • "The owner was helpful and welcoming."

The bottle of wine and the milk was a nice touch. The house was as described, warm and very well equipped. Parking was not a concern, with one space at the front and others on Main Street, which despite its name, is actually quiet. The A65 runs alongside the back of the house and traffic noise could be heard in the twin and bunk bed rooms - earplugs solved the problem (I bought my own, but I now know why there’s a set of disposable ones in the bedside drawer !). Plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery and a good dishwasher. It was a great base for walking the Peaks, with a variety of places to eat back in Ingleton , all within walking distance.

It can sleep 6, 4 adults and two children, comfortably. It is children and dog friendly! The neighbours we saw were all very pleasant. The houses in the street have shared private access to a small river frontage area - great to sit in, and for picnics and even paddling (but not deep enough for boat launching). Ingleton shops, pubs and cafes are only a 5 minute walk. You can also walk from the house to the waterfalls (entrance fee payable), and there are several other walks including ascents up Ingleborough. The A65 runs at the back of the house. When the windows were closed the noise was not a problem, but if you prefer sleeping with windows open you may like to consider ear plugs in those rooms.

Toys for the kids (If you want to bring them), Seat covers for the dog, great furnishings - Clean and comfy, loads of tourist information - Including the wall pictures in the cottage), the garden (with benches) was a perfect sun trap, even the neighbours were chatty. Three pubs we used all did great food and again very friendly. It's a great cottage in an amazing village. If I had to offer a critique it would be regarding the road outside - It can get busy but we did our research and knew about it before we arrive. It does go quiet at 4.30ish and the thick wall keep the traffic noise out to a great degree, you can't hear it in the garden. We chose it because we (rarely) wanted to take the dog with us and it was 100% dog and human friendly - strangely enough - NO doggy smells?? Great venue and a great holiday break, Thank you so much.

  • "The cottage itself is lovely."

However, the peacefulness of the cottage location is completely misrepresented by the web site! "In a peaceful position ..." This is just wrong. The property backs onto the A65, a major trunk road running across North Yorkshire, with only the width of the pavement seprating the living room and two of the bedrooms from heavy lorries. There are even earplugs left for the guests! Our children were frequently disturbed in the night by large lorries passing in the night. "There is also private access to a lovely stream with a sitting area to enjoy." The sitting area is above the stream and can only be accessed by a ladder. The photos of the stream gives the impression it has a grassy bank. However this is just moss covered boulders. Even if you reach the stream, it is awkward to explore and certainly not dog friendly. The seating area was heavily overgrown and uncared for, and given the proximity of the A65, not somewhere one would want to spend anytime. Given we visited in August we needed to open windows to cool the place, and suffer the road noise. If you don't mind traffic noise, this is a great cottage, though due to its location not peaceful or very dog friendly. Had this been acurately described on the web site, I am afraid I wouldn't have stayed there.

The property is dog friendly as it has an enclosed yard for both dogs and children. We do advise people to keep dogs downstairs as not to ruin the furnishings upstairs as we have guests who do not have dogs too. The river is not advertised as a place for dog to swim in. Its a river with a seating area.Yes the property backs on to a main road. We put fans in each room for summer for this reason. On the sykes site it has a map with the location too.The street itself is very peaceful as its a cul de sac with very few houses. Sorry if this caused any problems Property Owner

  • "Dogs not allowed upstairs and this caused some difficulties."

So if your pet is anxious and needs to be close to you, which ours is and that’s why we go for dog friendly cottages, this isn’t the place for you. The river shown in the pictures is lovely but our dog could not access as you have to go down a vertical ladder. Another consideration when booking. But value for money, amenities and Ingleton Pottery and town - brilliant.

We do try and discourage people from letting dogs have a free reign of upstairs as the property is also for dog free couples and family's too. Sorry if that was an inconvenience but lots of other properties have the same policy too. As for the river that's just the way it is sorry we cant change it. Thankyou for your feed back. We had a superb week at Old Bridge Inn, Ingleton. We (4 adults and a dog) could easily have enjoyed another week as there is so much to see and do in the area. The cottage was home from home with everything (and more) that we needed. After a busy day we could walk less than 5 minutes to The Masons pub for an evening meal, delicious. The A 65 means you can easily reach all the charming towns like Settle and Kirby Lonsdale and only forty minutes to Kendal and the Lakes. Ingleton itself is small and pretty but you will find a local Coop for all your needs. The nearest pub, the Masons is a couple of minutes walk from the accommodation, by the time you read this it will have re-opened after refurbishment, there are also two more pubs in the village but haven't tried them, after all we had our wine chiller and Netflix and Amazon, Bliss.
