  • "We think Meadow View is in a great location, we've stayed at Sedgeford Hall in the past and wanted to revisit the area so your cottage fitted the bill."

In all honesty the pictures on line were obviously taken a while ago and the cottage is looking a little tired. The paintwork downstairs could do with a refresh, the sofa in the dining area is not very comfortable, the one in the lounge is a bit better. The tv in the lounge was unpredictable, and turned itself off midst viewing several times and often the screen would just go blank for 10 or 15 seconds and then come back on again. We had an issue with the side door being difficult to unlock, which we did report, and the owners are going to get it sorted and were very approachable about the issue. We used the patio door instead but the gate is very difficult to close from the drive side as it needs to be lifted and that's not easy as there's no handle. We found the cottage well equipped, loads of towels supplied which was good, the beds were comfortable. Bizarrely no hand soap, despite supplying so many other things like salt, pepper, oil, oxo cubes, fairy liquid, loo roll, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel.................! The information folder was very useful and we really enjoyed the local walks and were thrilled that the local pub The King William has been upgraded and now serves lovely food! Absolutely great and a lovely walk via a footpath to get there. We have had a lovely holiday, and don't wish to sound negative, but that was our honest assessment.

Thanks for your feedback. We always welcome suggestions of how we can improve so will take on board all your points of view. The door is fixed. The TV does drop out very occasionally due to weather conditions, the joy of being in the middle lots of flat fields! Usually rights itself quite quickly and luckily doesn’t happen with any regality. Hand soap should be at each sink so maybe an oversight of the changeover team, apologies for any inconvenience that caused. Sofas are tricky one to resolve as comfort can be a matter of opinion but we shall review them. King regards, thank you Helen Property Owner

We had some rain and the outside was wet there was no where to wipe our feet also with the dog coming in and out

Thank you for taking the time to review. There is usually a mat there. Not sure where that disappeared to then? Thanks so much for letting me know I shall look into where it went. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks for the feedback. Kind regards Helen Property Owner

  • "Had the best week at Meadow View, and what a view, both front and back of the property, it really was idyllic."

This was our first visit to Norfolk and we couldn't have asked for a better base. We did a couple of walks from the property, great not to have to get the car out. We were blessed with great weather all week, and it was a joy to sit out in the garden and listen to the bird songs. We all totally switched off and relaxed, we didn't want to leave. Just a couple of things to point out, a couple of the spotlights in the kitchen kept flickering and the kettle I think might need checking, bits kept appearing in our mugs... This seems really churlish to mention this, it's only so you can check it out as you might not realise otherwise. Sedgeford was an ideal base to visit the beaches of Hunstanton and Brancaster. We did a couple of visits to Sandringham and the literature in the house was really useful and helped us pick out some walks, thank you. Thank you for the use of your property, we loved it, and very much expect to come back there.

Thanks so much for your lovely feedback. So happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Thanks for letting me know about the kettle.Kind regards Helen Property Owner

It is a great place to stay, base for loads to do nearby whether that's beaches, shopping, walks or absolutely nothing:) We had an 11yr old and couple of dogs, garden was great for both - terrier proof and plenty to do. Loads of wildlife in the area and very peaceful get away from it all. Will be back!

The fabulous well enclosed rear garden was ideal for our dog, and the location was perfect for exploring beautiful North Norfolk. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, it is situated in a very peaceful location just outside the lovely village of Sedgeford. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would not hesitate in recommending this property.

  • "We had a lovely week in Meadow View cottage."

It was quiet and peaceful. There was more than enough equipment, just lacking a cafetiere but that is our preference. We couldn't find a bulb to put into the light above the mirror in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept really well. We used the General Store in Ringstead which was very handy and interesting and friendly. Our dog loved exploring the garden. We had a meal in King William IV pub in Sedgeford, very nice and as so many places around ,was dog friendly. If we come to Norfolk again would have no hesitation in booking Meadow View.

Thanks so much for your review. So pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. There is a cafetière at the house so apologies that you couldn’t locate it, I will look into where that has disappeared to, I will let the team know about the bulb, sorry if that caused inconvenience, thank you for flagging those for me. Look forward to welcoming you back to Meadow View in the future. Kind regards Helen Property Owner

The cottage is really comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. The back garden is large and dog secure. It is located a 5 minute drive to a dog safe paddock (for hire) which is great if you have a nervous or reactive dog. It is a 10 minute drive to a lovely farm shop near Norfolk lavender and Lidl’s and it is a great base for birdwatching the north Norfolk coast. We hope to come back next year

Thanks so much for your lovely review. It was an absolute pleasure to host you and I look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards Helen Property Owner

  • "Meadow View was perfect for our family stay in Norfolk."

It had the most fantastic garden, not only terrier proof but it backed onto fields where you could see hawks and owls. The quiet was the best thing. Very few cars and the view at night with the sunset from our bedroom across the fields was amazing. We'd open up both windows and look out before going to sleep. The rooms were great, facilities good, plenty of space in the kitchen to put things, fab pantry. The second bedroom is small but ideal for our 10 year old. Plenty of wildlife around the area, we rescued a baby hedgehog in the road and we saw stoats darting about. Plenty to do - we didn't get everything done. The General Store was outstanding with so much on offer. The cottage was so close to everything, Hunstanton, Castle Rising, Sandringham, Holme-next-the-sea, Holkham Hall etc. The big bonus was the AllDogs Meadow a 2-minute drive from the cottage, a field for dogs to run around in, our reactive rescues absolutely loved it! Whether you have dogs, kids, neither or both you will have a great stay, thanks Helen for having us.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at Meadow view."

A thoughtfully set up holiday home. We loved the garden and the country style furnishings. The only negative thing for us was the mattresses, I had to sleep in the second bedroom because there was a big dip in the mattress which made it uncomfortable to sleep together. Everything else was perfect for us.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Sorry to hear the mattress wasn’t to your liking, we usually get great reviews on the comfort of the beds. I shall get maintenance to check that nothing has occurred in the last few weeks to change this. Thanks for letting us know. Do hope to welcome you back in the future. • "We had a lovely summer holiday stay with our children at Meadow View cottage."

The downstairs space was extensive and really worked well for us having the front and back sitting rooms. The children's toys were a pleasant surprise and much played with, as were the children's books. It could all be easily popped back away to turn it into adult space in the evening again. The garden looking onto fields (or indeed a meadow!) really made it for us, with the fine weather, the children played outside and thanks to the owner for leaving some garden toys in the shed. We really valued having the utility room with the washing machine which worked well and the downstairs shower which was really useful after trips to the beach. We were pleased at how clean the cottage was and settled straight in as a home from home. Overall we found this a good base for us to see the sights of the North Norfolk coast and the owner had clearly put a lot of time and attention into the property. The recommendations in the info book were helpful and we did the walk across the fields to the Gin Trap and General Store twice(!) as it was so good and went to the village playground - many thanks for the voucher which was a nice treat and prompt to visit. We would happily stay here again and explore more of this beautiful part of the world. Many thanks.

About the location

SEDGEFORD

Heacham 2.7 miles, Hunstanton 4.3 miles, King's Lynn 16 miles

The village of Sedgeford rests within the Norfolk Coast AONB, a few miles south east of Hunstanton. With a long history dating back to the Doomsday Book of 1086, there are remains of Roman architecture, Iron Age artefacts and Neolithic flint tools, suggesting the village has been inhabited for centuries. The River Heacham flows through the village, and there is a village hall, two churches, a post office and a hotel with a pub & restaurant. For keen cyclists, the National cycle route 1 passes through Sedgeford and the Peddars Way is close by and easy to access. The village of Heacham is 3 miles away, closer to the coast, with a great selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, along with a golf club and two picturesque sandy beaches. The seaside town of Hunstanton is slightly further afield, and is one of the few places on the east coast where you can observe the sun setting over the sea, and offers attractions such as a SEA LIFE Centre and Heritage Centre & Museum, as well as Old Hunstanton Beach and nearby cliffs. Explore the coast further and discover the Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve and family-friendly Holkham Hall, with woodlands and a walled garden to enjoy.
