  • "Unfortunately the bed was vet uncomfortable when told owner she said they had had no complaints before we did consider returning home but eventually bought a mattress topper £40 but still felt lumps in bed so owner allowed us too put spare duvets underneath but overall bed was still bad ."

The bathroom is very small our legs were touching the wall which with me having mobility problems which I did say too Sykes as well caused problems ,the shower door was coming off rollers which meant it was awkward too get through the door I too shower over all whilst it was loverly and clean I think it should be advertised as possibly not suitable for people with mobility problems because of narrow walk area from bed and bathroom and shower based on clean and owner I would give top marks but with the problems we had and the terrible service from Sykes poor customer care to sure we would book Sykes again plus too point out there was poor out door lights out side very dim plus on the site it was terrible the lighting and my self with mobility problems found it quite worrying

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate mattresses can be subjective and personal preference, we have had no other guest concerns regarding the bed at all but we are sorry if on this occasion it did not suit your personal requirements. We do show pictures of all areas of the bathroom so that guests can make an informed decision as to whether the property is right for them before they make a booking. The shower door did move away from the rollers as any shower door can ocasionally and apologies for that and this has of course been rectified. We would also like to reassure guests that we have two motion sensor lights outside. Thank you for your comments about how clean the property was as we do take great pride in the housekeeping. • "The directions to arrive at Jean's Place were spot on."

The communication throughout our holiday from Shelley was amazing, this is the best host we have ever experienced in the 7 years of booking through Sykes. On arrival there was a bottle of fizz and a thoughtful bag of treats for our dog, which she enjoyed. Jeans place was spotless and smelt gorgeous when entering the lodge, all the rooms were beautifully furnished and really clean. Every little detail was catered for, the box filled with complimentary tea and coffee was a lovely touch too. (fresh flowers, big, soft bath towels, slippers, soaps and all the cooking utensils you needed) The hot tub was absolutely amazing and was well used, especially after days out to places such as Scarborough, Filey, Whitby & Dalby Forest where we did so much walking

It's ideally situated for exploring North Yorkshire and the coast. The host, Shelley, could not have been more helpful and friendly. I took my mum for her 80th birthday and we all had a great time - Shelley even decorated the place with balloons and banners which delighted my mum. Highly recommended.

  • "The place was great for a weekend get away."

It was spotlessly clean with good facilities, basics tea, salt, pepper, oil etc (even though we bought our own). Found a hair dryer also. The site was quiet had a bar and play area for the children. The hot tub was a great addition and got plenty of use. The decking around was fenced in which was great for our dog so he would be outside with us when using the hot tub. The welcome gift of a bottle of bubbles and Easter egg for the children was a lovely touch. Nothing was too much trouble for Shelly the owner and she was very responsive with any questions we had. Would highly recommend.

  • "Just got back from a fantastic holiday at this location."

Lodge was excellent all round. Very clean, very dog friendly. Loved the hot tub. Used it every evening after a long walk, and most mornings to get ourselves ready for the day. Couldn't fault what was in the lodge regarding cooking, shower facilities and the other general every day stuff. The wife and I have stayed in many caravans and lodges in our time, and this one is right up there near the top. Excellent. The site is ideally placed for Filey, Scarborough, Malton, and the Coastal paths at Flamborough. All of these were around 30 to 40 minutes away. Loved Malton, with it's great choice of shops and food outlets. I got a bit drunk from the whisky shop with it's samples. In the whisky shop, ask about the "library". Whitby is also fairly close, but is nearer the hour mark for travelling. Fabulous day at the Egton Agricultural Show. There are also some excellent smaller walks direct from the site, particularly along the Yorkshire Wolds Way. I'd be hard pressed to find any fault with the accommodation and the location at all. Fabulous.

The site is under development and just off the A64 so there is continuous noise from traffic. Saying that it does mean east access to the coast, Malton & York and the surrounding areas, and there is always the hot tub to come back to.
