A warm ,comfortable and well equipped "home" near the sea and in a very beautiful part of Scotland.

  • "It would be nice if there were a few glasses (of whiskey) and a few more plates in the kitchen."

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We thought there were glasses in the cottage, maybe we should supply smaller 'dram' glasses. Perhaps also add a couple more plates would not be a bad idea. Best regards Fiona and Brian Property Owner

I had to get in touch with the council on line for correct information.. The pathway at the back of the property was brilliant to allow the dog off lead all the up to the beach.

Hello. Yes the old track is handy for walking your dog. I have done it many times myself. sorry about the bin information. The council have changed it lately and I believe it was a little out of date in the folder. We hope it didn't affect the enjoyment of your holiday. Best Regards Fiona and Brian Property Owner

Having a cuppa on that bench each morning was beautiful. The views were amazing and watching the boats out the skylight of a night. Inside was lovely, homely feel and beds were so comfy. Kitchen had everything you could possibly need in it. Shower was great. Our Cassie (dog) appeared to feel very comfortable there. Lovely little walks near by. I would love to visit again :)

The host and owner were easy to contact when we had questions and were responsive. The cottage was beautiful, clean and has the best views! It was well equipped with anything we needed to eat in when we wanted. We enjoyed walking around the village and along the sea. There is no end of adventures and sight seeing close by as well! Would highly recommend!

Comfortable bed, decent sofa and chairs, powerful shower and a kitchen that had everything I needed. The garden isn’t pretty but being able to sit on the bench at the front with a coffee, overlooking the sea was perfect. I would happily recommend and return.

Hello, Thank you for the nice feedback. Sitting on the bench is also a favourite pastime for us. Sorry about the garden and we have employed a gardener to come round on a regular basis, and also looking at changing the layout a little. Best Regards Fiona and Brian Property Owner

  • "This cottage is beautiful."

It is very comfortable and is furnished to the same standard you would your own home. The water pressure in the shower is excellent, and the kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook. It is lovely and tidy, and has everything you could want. However the stand-out for this cottage is the view, I could sit and watch the sea, the boats and the stars for hours from the front window, or take a cuppa to the bench across the road and sit there and watch the world. It is a very special place, and much as I would like to keep it a secret, it’s too good not to share!

Great to hear you enjoyed our cottage. It is a lovely location which we are fortunate to have. We also offer sit on the bench and watch the birds and sometimes Dolphins:) Thank you Fiona and Brian Property Owner

Such an equipped comfortable cottage. The dog loved it too. We loved the walk from Banff to Whitehills along the walking route and beach. The views were spectacular. We especially enjoyed sitting on the bench out the front. Loved the binoculars reminded me of being a kid. Went in a fishing trip from Macduff, had a brilliant time . And the Railway inn pub, made us feel so welcome. Already booked to go back next year.

The cottage is in a beautiful position open the front door and your on the beach where we saw some beautiful sun sets. The cottage itself was imacculate with so many little extras particularly the home made short bread which was delicious. Every little detail has been thought out to make it a real home from home it's a credit to the owners and we look forward to a return visit in the future.

  • "Enjoyed my stay."

Cottage cosy after being out all day. Loved watching the waves and sunsetting. I have marked this down as the sofa and one of the chairs are awful to sit on and need replacing. Something has happened to one half of the sofa and it is completely done and uneven to sit on. I almost caused myself an injury sitting on middle of sofa and ended up on very hard section. Hard to describe but all you feel is hard, almost broken sections when trying to get comfy. Also rug at fire is a hazard and we removed it for our stay as one end completely curled up and an accident waiting to happen. May I also point out that why assume if booking for 3 people that the double bed and single will be sufficient. I booked this as there were 3 beds and luckily i had some bedding with me otherwise I would have had to buy some. Like I said enjoyed my stay but have marked down comfort and facilities for the points mentioned.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we also think the cottage is comfortable and cosy, and the views can be great either in calm or stormy conditions in their own different ways. We were aware that one of the sofa seat cushions had a drooped a little and were monitoring the situation while we looked for a replacement. This is now planned for the coming week. We did not think it would cause an injury, or we would have acted immediately. The sofa is a two-seater recliner and is not designed to be sat in the middle of the two recliner seats as this is where the mechanism is located, this may be the part you sat on. Thank you for bringing the rug to our attention: apologies for the inconvenience, we will deal with the curled corner asap. We apologise for the miscommunication re sleeping arrangements, but there is always spare bedding in the cottage in the cupboard under the stairs. We will look at moving this upstairs to the bedroom cupboard in the future. Maybe this could have been discussed during our communications leading up to your arrival, or a call on your arrival could easily have dealt with it at the time and rectified the misunderstanding immediately. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Dolphin Cottage, and once again we are disappointed that a few things may have spoiled your experience. UPDATE: Sofa replaced and new chairs also installed in to the cottage. May 2023 Best regards Fiona and Brian Property Owner

  • "Dolphin Cottage is lovely, well placed, immaculately clean."

Everything you need is there for you to enjoy your stay. We didnt find we were missing anything we needed. The owners had left things we didnt expect to find, especially with the toiletries. They left us milk and tea and coffee facilities for our arrival, also a starter pack for the log fire. We arrived to a power cut and they were able to advise us on when the power might be restored. They left a folder of hints and tips and all the manuals needed for the appliances. They deserve to be popular with guests. Lovely cottage and fab hosts. It took us 9 hours to get to Banff but we would happily book again. The cottage is dog friendly and they provide throws for the furniture. We will recommend them to anyone we know who might want to travel to that area. One tip if you are hoping to see the northern lights, ask the locals for advice on your first night. We found out that the lights had appeared on at least 3 nights of our stay but despite looking out of the windows we didnt see them, maybe we should have looked out of the back door not the front as we saw more stars in the sky at the back. All in all a lovely week in Banff and the surrounding area with a lovely cottage to go home to each evening

Good evening, Thank you for the lovely feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Would glad to have you back again. Hopefully you might manage to see the Northern Lights.
