  • "61 Seatown is one of those places you will never forget."

Cullen is so beautiful and the fisherman's cottages are part of the beauty of the village. 61 is a comfortable cottage with all the amenities you will need. 61 is cosy with his log burning stove as well as comfortable central heating. The kitchen is well equipped but their are plenty of eateries and shops to visit. The cottage is really close to the seafront which our dog loved . We are so pleased with our stay we aim on coming back next year. Thank you for such a memorable stay.

  • "A proper fisherman cottage with duck or grouse ceilings and doorframes."

If you are over 6ft you will bang your head! The stairs are very steep and narrow Having said the negatives - we loved our stay. It was perfect! Don't go here if you want busy...it's so quiet, a perfect retreat to let the wind and sea breakers wash away the stresses and restore you to health. Also..we were well blessed with dry weather for 6 of our 7 days. Whilst the rest of uk was suffering deluges we had blue skies!

  • "61 Seatown is a gorgeous cottage which is beautifully decorated with relevant pictures and ornaments."

It is more like someone's home than a self catering let. Very well equipped and really clean. The lovely sunny courtyard is a real bonus but spoiled for dog owners by the lack of any fencing across the only open side. Personally I felt that the hob and oven were too fancy/ complicated for a holiday property as no-one wants to have to study instruction manuals to be able to make dinner the first night!

Hi Sheona Many thanks for your lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit to 61 Seatown. Unfortunately, the council will not allow us to fence off the courtyard as it is part of the conservation area. Thanks again for booking 61. Kind regards Pete & Karen Property Owner

It is situated a couple of minutes walk from the beach. Its garden is sheltered which was much appreciated as it was windy last week. The cottage was in immaculate condition and the owners were very helpful and contacted us to arrange for an early entry if we were in the area.

  • "Overall the accomodation was fine."

Its a pity that the heating in the main bedroom was not sufficient during the night. Given the fact our holiday was in the middle of a very cold spell (below freezing) it resulted in the room being very cold. Couldnt adjust the temperature above 14 degrees. If this was rectified the accommodation would be perfect.

Ann, Many thanks for your feedback. As a result of this, we are going to install a new radiator with a Smart Thermostat valve which will work independently and allow the radiator to remain on during the night. Apologies for any inconvenience. Kind regards Pete & Karen Property Owner

Had a lovely, chilled week (again). Perfect location and well maintained. Only down side was the heating going off during the night - main bedroom became very cold. It is the first time we have had cold weather whilst visiting the moray coast (thankfully). Last visit to house we had 14 deg c during the day, this time max temp was 4 degc. Still had a fab holiday and would recommend the property.

Dear Vicky Many thanks for your feedback. We had the most amazing week staying in Cullen and after a day out it was always great to "come home" to No.61 and curl up in front of a real fire. [Just to make fellow dog owners aware the yard/garden area is only secure on 3 sides - we came prepared with a portable/foldable dog fence. Otherwise scarily there is access to the busy not too far away Inverness road]. Brilliant property, I would highly recommend and may well visit again!!!

  • "61 Seatown is a really beautiful cottage, decorated to a very high standard and has everything you need."

It was welcoming and comfortable and was the perfect place to stay. We were warm and cosy and enjoyed every minute of our stay. It wasn't a problem for us, but, the steep stairs may be an issue for some, so best to be aware. The only little thing which I would have appreciated was a dressing table and mirror by the window in the main bedroom or even a small table and mirror just to do hair and make-up. This is not a criticism just something that I personally would have found very useful. 61 Seatown was a perfect place to stay and we look forward to returning to this 'little gem' of a cottage very soon. Cullen itself is wonderful. The cottage is 2 minutes from the beach and harbour and is surrounded by great walks and scenery. The town itself has everything you need and everybody is very friendly. Cullen and the cottage make for a lovely relaxing holiday and we can't wait to return.

One thing that should be noted is that due to very steep stairs, it would not be suitable for less able people. Also the house is situated 50 meters from the junction not 500 meters as stated. Also the house is behind number 63 and can not be seen from the road.

Cottage was beautiful and absolute spotless and a minute from the beach. Very comfortable and welcoming. Nice welcome pack waiting for us on arrival. Our first time in this part of Scotland and well worth the long drive. Cullen was beautiful, clean sandy beaches and such friendly people. There were no crowds and parking was so easy everywhere we went. Magnificent views from the cliff top walks up to Bow Fiddle Rock. We, and our dog, had a great time. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful holiday away from the crowds and traffic of Devon and Cornwall. We will definitely go again.

About the location

CULLEN

Elgin 21 miles.

The Moray coastal town of Cullen is situated on Cullen Bay, an inlet of the Moray Firth, and is an extremely attractive town, originally built around the mouth of the Burn of Deskford. Modern Cullen comprises the delightful fishing village of Seatown and an ‘inland’ area, which stretches up an imposing main street from Seatown, underneath a spectacular viaduct. Although the wealth of Cullen was built on textiles in the 18th century, the town is best known for its fishing heritage, its name being given to a rich, creamy haddock soup known as Cullen Skink. Visitors can enjoy Cullen’s lovely sandy beach, the famous Ice Cream Shop, regarded by many as Scotland’s best ice cream parlour, a fine selection of shops and restaurants, and the historic city of Elgin is within driving distance.
