  • "We enjoyed our stay, the only problem was we were told that there was building work nearby, it was next door,we had no problem with that apart from the skip and 5 vans parked outside making it impossible to park during the working day."

    Otherwise it's was lovely accommodation.

  • "**Review of Ty Coed Cottage, Beaumaris, Anglesey** Ty Coed is a charming and warm cottage, ideally located for exploring the beautiful island of Anglesey and within walking distance of Beaumaris."

Its quaint and old-world appeal sets the tone for a relaxing getaway, and the convenient location is perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the local scenery and attractions. However, despite its charm, Ty Coed was unfortunately let down by several issues that need addressing. The most noticeable was the poor cleaning standards: there was mould on the windows and shower, and the towels were stained, yellowed and marked, which made them feel unclean and in need of replacement. The bedding was stored in plastic bags in a mould filled cupboard or under the bed, the cutlery drawers in the kitchen could do with a deep clean, and so on. Additionally, we were greeted with rotting flowers in a vase on the windowsill with stagnant, smelly water—a rather unpleasant first impression. The shower door was stiff and difficult to close, making showering a cumbersome task. We also encountered a more serious safety issue with sharp carpet tacks protruding from the carpet; both my son and I stepped on them, resulting in unpleasant shocks. The guest book provided in the cottage felt outdated and hadn’t been updated in quite some time. It included inaccurate information, such as the promise of complimentary Nespresso capsules, which were not provided, and incorrect instructions for filling the outdoor bins. These discrepancies added to the overall sense that the property is not being maintained to the standard one would expect. Finally, the description of Ty Coed mentioned the opportunity to “sit outside and watch the world go by,” which was a key selling point for us. However, this was misleading, as the outdoor space is entirely occupied by bins, leaving no area for sitting or enjoying the outdoors. While Ty Coed has the potential to be a lovely holiday retreat, these issues significantly detracted from our stay. With improved cleanliness, maintenance, and more accurate descriptions, this cottage could truly live up to its potential. For now, though, it falls short of the charming escape it promises to be.

  • "Guest book - previous guests kept referring to excellent "Welcome Pack", presumably from a previous owner of the cottage."

Our only Welcome Pack was the starter pack of logs for the fire. General appearance and condition of the cottage was pleasing although closer inspection revealed cracked ceiling in the kitchen (a piece of the ceiling fell onto my partner's head!), wallpaper coming off the wall in a few places, tired sealant in the bathroom and shower, heavy dust on the lamp in living room. No shaver socket, which is unusual nowadays. No cupboard storage for food. The bags for dirty laundry mentioned in the Visitors Guide were not present. Never got the hang of the woodburner and because of no instruction, it was a struggle to burn the thicker logs. All the appliances worked well and the furniture and beds were comfortable. The shower worked well. TV and WiFi work perfectly. Kitchen was bright, clean and modern. Carpets were in excellent and clean condition - so there is PLENTY of good news! It was noted that the property was up for sale which possibly explains some of the flaws. Sorry if it sounds like nitpicking but a little more attention to detail would go a long way. Nevertheless a troublefree stay.

The cleanness was awful my friend found black bugs in the bed and I also seen them all upstairs plus when stripping the bed on the final day there was no mattress protector and the mattress which I had been sleeping on for 4 nights was stained and filthy.

  • "A very comfortable, tidy and well located cottage."

Ideal for a couple. We were able to easily park outside for the duration of our stay. It is an easy walk into Beamaris where there are good places to eat and drink. Would use the cottage again and there were no significant problems. An enjoyable stay.

  • "We found the cottage to be clean, comfortable and cosy."

The heating was on a timer so we didn’t need to worry about it, it was warm when we needed it. There was everything we could have needed. There is a pod coffee maker but no cafetière, that would be useful, not a problem though as we brought our own with us. There was a very generous welcome pack which had been thoughtfully provided. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend for a couple or two friends, or two siblings as we were.

  • "Wonderful holiday cottage!"

We stayed at the end of October and had a lovely time. The cottage is comfortable and cosy, we loved the wood burning stove in the lounge. It was clean and tidy on arrival, with a thoughtful welcome pack. We had all the amenities we could need, and was useful to be able to park outside easily - much easier than we've had previously staying further along the main street. It was an easy walk to the lovely shops and restaurants in Beaumaris, and was a great spot to explore the island from. Thanks for a great stay!

  • "When you enter the property it smells of damp in the lounge."

The double bedroom had no bulb for the main wall light. Parking, although on the street was ok, even if we couldn't park in front of the property there was usually plenty of room. The heating was very efficient. The lounge could do with a stronger light for reading. It was a good base for exploring Anglesey!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, we are so glad you enjoyed Angelsey! The lights you have mentioned have been replaced. We have not noticed any damp in the property, this could be a result of the weather, the location or the age and style of the property, we will, of course, have this checked with a tradesperson at the earliest opportunity. • "We always have a great time on Anglesey."

Sykes properties are of a high standard and usually very clean (the last two were spotlessly clean), but whilst we enjoyed our latest stay Ty Coed wasn't up to the cleanliness standards we have experienced before. Best if we explain. The PROS: beds were very clean, the kitchen was clean, (apart from green mould growing on a chopping board inside a cupboard), the owner didn't check before we moved in; can't have done, she was there when we arrived! The bathrooms were clean. But, the living room definitely smells of dog/dogs. We hate covers on furniture and the carpet in there smells of dogs. There was thick dust on all the stair bannisters, lots of cobwebs on the ceiling beams, over the fire, some with dead insects hanging in them. The exterior window sills at both front and back were dirty. The tiny backyard is filthy, (covered in fallen detritus) with a dog bowl full of green water, broken sticks, lots of cobwebs full of insects, some mud and dirt and the windowsills were totally covered with dirt and tree debris. The wicker draws in the bedroom, once pulled out revealed, uh, grime dirt and thick black dust. The front door sticks very badly and my wife could not lock or open it. In fact, it needs a UVPc guy out to service it! Having had this problem ourselves, at home I know that this will eventually catch guests out when the shot bolts go. The handle is so stiff its hard to open and lock, very hard. The bedroom door catches on a ceiling beam and needs a few millimetres plaining off it. Going toilet in the night could be tricky for someone with a disability (the front door definitely would be an issue). It gives us no pleasure to mention all this, but at £830 for the week we expected much, much better! The dirt and other issues mentioned looked to have been there for weeks, some months, not days, so it does need a proper deep clean in the aforementioned areas. Rest assured we won't stay at Ty Coed again! And have several pictures of all these dirty areas as well!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at our lovely home, however we are deeply disappointed that you found parts of the property to be unclean. Due to your arrival prior to the check-in time, some areas may have been missed, although if you had mentioned this at the time of our meeting, or any time during your stay, any issues would have been rectified swiftly. Guests are also able to contact Sykes Cottages if they have any concerns. The property is not dog friendly, and no other guests have ever mentioned the property to have any undesirable smells, we have excellent feedback overall, with the guest staying the week before leaving lovely comments in the guest book. The area that you highlighted outside the property, is only used as an area to store the logs and not somewhere for guests to spend any period of time there. This is why this area is not advertised on the website. The property is of an age, where little quirks might appear like the stiff door, and as quickly as we clear a cobweb away another can appear. We are sorry to hear you will not be visiting Ty Coed in the future, we only wish we had been given the opportunity to rectify the issues during your stay, instead of reading them in your feedback. We have taken the feedback you have provided onboard, if you had made us aware of any issues, these could have been rectified or compensation could have been offered, but as we were unaware we can not act on this retrospectively. About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
