"Beautiful cottage surrounded by gorgeous mature shrubs and gardens."
The property was clean, very well equipped, super fast Wi-Fi, exceptionally comfortable king size bed, one of the best showers we have used, we could not ask for more. The fully enclosed garden was perfect for us and our two little dogs to relax in after a morning exploring.
Nos 4 the Shippon was perfectly situated for our days out and we found the owners so friendly and helpful, please thank the owners Dad who although busy always found time to chat.
The highlight for us was the low light pollution and sitting outside at night on the recliners staring at literally thousands of stars was truly a magical experience.
We were so sorry to leave and hope to return in 2025.

"I’m 92 years old, stayed here for a week with friends close by in the next door but one cottage."

"The best maintained place we ever stayed."
Everytime, we go away for a break we have to think for our kid with ASD and the property didn't disappointed us. Our kid was mermarised looking at the burning fire. The property did allowed him to explore nature more closely and helped him to get the best out of him. It turned out to be the theraputic retreat for us. And would love to go back again. Time literally flies too quickly in the propert. It would be nice if there is a clock and a calander to keep the track of time.
Aw so glad the whole fmily enjoyed and we would love to have you back. Left cottage lovely and clean.

"This is the 1st time we have ever returned to the same property for a holiday as, after staying last Aug, we started looking for a place this June and couldn’t find anywhere that compared favourably to The Shippon!"
The property is so ideally placed for reaching all 4 corners of the island and is perfect for us and our 2 dogs with the enclosed garden, stone floors and the main bedroom being on the ground floor. It feels like our 2nd home now so we’ve already rebooked for Sept!!
So please you feel at home, its exactly what we are hoping for with our guest. Love having lovely guest back.

"No local literature, no visitors book (which is always good for food recommendations)."
No welcome pack, except for a few tea bags and sugar sachets in a dirty plastic box.
I have full mobility but the stairs were a challenge! In fact I slept on the sofa all week. Coffee table needed, as suggested in previous reviews. We used 2 dining chairs instead.
Lovely bedding but awful cutlery. Otherwise very clean, nice garden.
You need to look on the internet for your preferred local amenities and restaurant. Google knows much more than us, and we do not want dirty germ spreading literature. Unfortunately you did see the picture of the stairs and the sykes recommendation on the advert. You got what you booked. there is a king-size bed downstairs, so you dont need to go up stairs, just sleep with your husband, he cant be that bad. The cottage is self-catering. we provide the basics starter set inc cleaning product, tea, coffee, sugar, oil, salt, foil. What dud you expect breakfast.
There is a side table that can be used as a coffee table. A coffee table would restrict safe exit from the property.
We do not accept difficult, unrelistic people. You should have booked cottage 2 that has standard stairs. But you booked the Shippon, knowing the stairs were there. So what can I say. Do not come back.

"A cosy, comfortable stay with lovely, friendly owners in hand if needed."
The accommodation was clean, well equipped and to a high standard. The surrounding gardens and outdoor areas would be lovely in the summer. We were particularly interested in the enclosed dog exercising field on site , but it was temporarily unavailable. The local beaches were great. Thanks to the owners for their generous welcome pack and all they did to make our Christmas so special.

"Fantastic place and so tranquil."
Just what we needed. Shower was amazing and the bed was really comfy. Everything we needed was available, including some extras such as cool block and ice cube tray.
Only thing missing was a footstool as it would have been great to put our feet up after a long day of walking.

Our 17 year old loved having the mezzanine level to himself and the enclosed garden was brilliant for our 2 big bears! We also loved the grounds and being able to let the dogs off in the doggy field, wander round the orchard and stroke the horses. Hayden and Claire couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful - thanks for making our stay so lovely.

"We have been to the cottages before with the previous owners where the large fields were used for the dog exercising area."
However this time the only dog exercising area is a small fenced off area previous used for chickens. So we were a little disappointed that the larger fields weren't available however the the cottage, location and friendliness of the owners is great and would recommend. May be clearly state on the listing the dog exercising area is small.
Presuming that fields would be available due to previous owners is no reflection on us. It is not mentioned in Sykes advertising that large land would be sacrifice for the odd customer. There is a large secure dog run, small individual gardens, a top orchard, we are surrounded by footpaths and beaches.

"The Shippon is in a fabulous location."
Peaceful with pretty gardens and great views. Easy to reach many beaches around Anglesey.
However, we felt the cottage lacked comfort in the lounge with just one small sofa and a tub chair and no coffee table. The mezzanine room had more furniture than the lounge did.
Also, absolutely no reading material or maps which we are used to finding in holiday cottages.
Glad you enjoyed. Unfortunately due to the shippon being a converted farm building, the parameters of the cottages does not allow room to safely put another sofa. There is seating for 5 and an extra bed in the cottage. We do potray this in the pictures so that you know exactly what you are booking.
Reading material since covid have been removed for hygiene reasons, everyone has different reading taste and all tourist attractions are on the internet.

"A great little cottage, very well presented with all of the facilities that we needed."
Our Son particularly liked the mezzanine bedroom.
Like the rest of Anglesey the cottage and area are both very dog friendly, with an enclosed patio area, and a communal secure area where we could let her off the lead.
The owners left us to it during our stay, but when we did run into them they were extremely friendly and welcoming.

"This was a holiday to give our two grandchildren their first taste of Wales."
My wife and I usually stay in hotels so self-catering was something different. We definitely made the right choice by using Sykes to find this hidden gem in the centre of Anglesey which, while accessed via a chain of country lanes, could not have been more convenient for exploring the island and other parts of North Wales. The owners are to be congratulated for the high standards they maintain both inside the property and in the grounds outside. We would not hesitate to recommend No 4 The Shippon to others.

"I have enjoyed my stay at the shippon."
There were several light bulbs gone , the reading lamp, the light over the mirror, plus a spot light in bathroom too, The outside light didn't come on either .The extractor fan in the bathroom needed cleaning and so too the door and generally a good wipe down it got very steamy.
I was upstairs and could have done with a mirror so I could dry my hair , had to use my friends mirror in her room ?
On the plus side the kitchen was well equipped and we cooked several times .
The Beds were comfy and clean lovely white towels , TV was good and lounge area comfy, patio was useful , needs another sun chair to provide more comfort .my dog was happy and the facilities for toileting him was good .
we didnt use the heating , as it was warm enough. Very happy to go again , family were friendly and helpful .
Thanks for your feedback. We changed the light bulb that went off during your stay after you left, if you had sent a text we would have changed the bulbs. the outside light were newly installed and worked perfectly. You just had to step out into the sensor for it to light up. Unfortunately due to the roof shape upstairs there is no space for a wall mirror. But have now put a small one in the drawr for ladies who did not want to use the 2 downstairs. Please in future inform owners of any stains on bedding so that we can try and rescue them with stain removal prior washing. Please read the information leaflet provided regarding key instructions.

"Lovely property."
Very clean and beautifully set out and decorated. Centrally located for exploring the island. Quiet location which is what we wanted.
Hosts were pleasant and accommodating. We had issue with underfloor heating in bedroom and they responded quickly to try and sort it out. Would certainly visit again.
