  • "Property size good, needs a lot of TLC and work."

It’s up for sale and whilst we were there we had people looking around to buy which was nice! Not able to dispose of rubbish as bins full until the day before we left (10 day stay) we had to keep full bin bags in the utility room. Mice in the living room, horses escaped into the property. Pool table wrecked all pool cues no tips, balls missing. Paid alot of money to stay not worth it very disappointed.

  • "This visit was disappointing when compared with previous visits to other properties."

Firstly the instructions to reach the property were wrong - the last instruction was to turn left into the property drive when it should have said to the right. The drive was overgrown on both sides with brambles rubbing the sides of our car. There were weeds 2-3ft high outside the front of the cottage (not like the picture on the web site) and the 'lawn' at the back was a similar height (not much use for sitting out on a balmy afternoon or evening - there was no garden furniture to sit on anyway!). It was obvious the garden had not been touched at all this year and one wondered about last year! The drive and weeds were cut down during our visit, it took two men two days to do it! Inside the cottage, there were no towels on our arrival (we were told the cleaner had 'forgotten to leave them'). Three were brought on the Saturday evening of our arrival and some more 48 hours later after another reminder to the owner. No spare toilet rolls were provided, the cleaner claiming that was at the owner's instruction. Other basic items not provided but which would normally be expected in such properties were a tea pot, a tin opener, washing up liquid and more than one wine glass. Most of the cutlery and crockery was water marked so needed washing before using None of the electrical equipment e.g. kettle, toaster etc. appeared to carry PAT testing labels. The property COULD be made very attractive to visitors with some thought and attention to details

  • "It's a beautiful property with very nice location and all Greenery around it."

It's very quiet. Decent size. We were 7 people in total but I think it can accommodate 10 ppl easily. It has very nice play area with Pool, darts and football table. You can easily park 5 cars at the front of the cottage. For the host (owner) 7 stars.

  • "Fantastic property and great location, secluded and peaceful but only a stones throw away from shops and beach."

Unfortunately the heating was broken during our stay but the owner did everything to try and get it rectified, even sending someone out at 10pm and offering to reimburse us for logs for the fireplace. Could do with little modernisation but it absolutely did not bother us or affect our stay. Would definately recommend

  • "The property was spacious and warm in a lovely rural location with shops, beaches etc close by."

Unfortunately we didn’t find any improvements had been made since the review in August. Overflowing rubbish bins, wasp nest, broken furniture, stained bath, broken lock…the list could go on and on! A goodwill gesture was made by the owner but despite this we felt we had poor value for money and Sykes took no responsibility for listing this property. Disappointed.

  • "Good morning, please consider this as a complaint regarding the accommodation."

Unfortunately the photographs are not representative of the property that we stayed in and feel very upset that having paid over £800 for this property for 5 days it was not good value. The long driveway approach to the property was overgrown and it was impossible for our car to not connect with the overgrown hedges. The property rather than that displayed on your photos was overgrown with doc leaves, nettles, weeds etc. The delightful looking pony paddock in front of the property was overgrown fencing broken, the wall in a poor state nothing like the advertised view. Arrival through the back door first sight a floor standing boiler that didn't look in a good state. Gaffer tape holding the flooring down in the kitchen. Games room : Not a lovely pool table as advertised but one with rips in the cloth poorly reaired with adhesive tape. Dart board with two darts! Within minutes of arriving noticed that the recycling bins hadn't been emptied fot some time as there would be no room for our waste. Also noted a wasps nest under the roof tiles between the bedroom dorma windows. I can go on and have photo's the rear lawn was over grown, rutted and had an overpowering smell of oil from the tank. On stripping the beds when leaving one mattress was badly stained, the pillows were stained, the windows were not cleaned. The bath panel was split, the bathroom had no towel rail or even a toilet roll holder and once closed the door could only be opened by turning the lock in the centre of the handle. On top of this a holiday let that didn't even provide any outside furniture to sit on. We had to resort to taking dining room chairs outside! I'm happy to post all of this and have photos to back everything I have have mentioned but would welcome your feedback.

  • "Myself and Partner and 2 border collies spent 5 nights here and it felt like heaven."

The cottage is huge! Nice big garden, and big area the other side. Somebody wrote in a review before us that it was too rural on its own. Well I agree that it is out of the way on its own as you have to go up a long drive to gert to it, which made it nice and peaceful. But it is only a 5 minute drive to shops, pubs, restaurants and beach,so you get the best of both worlds. The cottage was very clean, and very big and great value for what we paid. Spoke to the owner before we arrived and he sent key code and said if we needed to call him at any time for anything just call him. Seemed a nice man. The dogs loved being there with all of the space. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely cottage to anyone. Will certainly be going back another time.

  • "This property should be listed as remote."

It is very difficult to find, even people who live in the area & taxi drivers don't know where it is. There is a very overgrown lane down to the property and the garden is unusable (the owner did tell us he was having difficulty finding a gardener). The central heating didn't work, but the owner sorted that out 4 days later as it was a bank holiday, but in the meantime we were freezing. I think the charge of £764 for a week was very overpriced (however the owner did say that he would refund some of the money for the inconvenience). All in all I do not think this cottage is worth the money we paid, we were very disappointed.

  • "A bit more basic for the price than I expected."

House was big and clean but was expecting it to be a bit better equipped and modern than what it was for the price and out of season. I don't want to nit pick as we did have a good weekend. Chatted to John on the phone and he was very nice and helpful with directions. Found the place no problem.

  • "Really great location and felt very safe and relaxed Nice large property with flexible accommodation and good facilities."

Games room was brilliant and although the pool table had a few rustic repairs, it was still a great source of entertainment during occasional wet afternoons. Only issue is that although the description says enclosed patio, this does not mean secure for dogs. The garden is completely open and they could easily wander although you are surrounded by fields. Nevertheless because the property is at the end of a very long private drive it's easy to walk them safely off the lead if they need to answer the call of nature. Walk to the beach takes about fifteen minutes or you can drive and park if you don't fancy the walk up the hill on your return. The sandy beach is spectacular and the sea was glassy calm all week and seems to be more sheltered than beaches on the opposite side of the island. Dogs loved the walk along the beach and although they are restricted from being off the lead in one area in high season, this was not a problem and they made lots of doggie friends further along where they are free to roam. Good standard eateries/pub nearby , all of which are dog friendly and can thoroughly recommend the Bengal Hut takeway. We didn't want to come home and felt really chilled by the end of the week. Spoke with John the owner by phone and he was really friendly and available 24 hours to clarify anything. Great choice if you want dog friendly accommodation in a peaceful location but with amenities nearby.

  • "Overall we had a wonderful time."

The cottage and everything in it could not be faulted at all. We enjoyed every minute of it. The location is great to see the local area as well as a base to visit areas such as Llandudno, South stack lighthouse and snowdonia. The cottage itself it out of the way and the only company was the sheep and cows in the fields. Lovely and quiet and would gladly stay there again. Plenty of space, parking. Only negative I would say is maybe could have done with seating in the games room and outside. Also maybe new cloth on the pool table as currently has a couple of small tears which are being held together by tape. Apart from that the beds were really comfy, kitchen was large and great facilities. The owner was really friendly, gave us clear instructions on how to get to the cottage and added that if there was anything we needed to give him a call. Really didn't want to go home at the end of the week.

  • "The cottage was really spacious and the nice touch of being left, milk, coffee, sugar etc, thank you."

The only disappointment is that there are no guidance as to using the cooker/oven and also some history about the cottage as we realised it may well have been a working cottage/land in the past. It would also be advisable if waste bins could be in the bedrooms and certainly the bathroom. All in all though brilliant cottage in a lovely and convenient setting, would certainly recommend to family and friends to visit Rhous. Thank you

  • "Very quiet and secluded, we wanted quiet and that's what we got."

There were only 2 of us so more than plenty of room, definitely enough space for a big party or family. The location was great, Tesco, pub, cafe and take aways within less than 5 minutes and a lovely beach within 10. We also did Zip World which was 30 minutes away, we had a lovely break. The only downside was the rain but the games room definitely helped with that.
