Also there was plenty of space for our family of 5. The owner Dez was really nice and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely book again and would recommend the Chapel to any one considering booking.

Derek , the owner was very approachable when we told him the TV wasn't working he didn't hesitate in coming to fix it. One very minor niggle, there was no hair dryer. It doesn't say there is one in the description of the property but normally everywhere we stay has at least one. We would definitely recommend capel mawr to everyone. Debs.

The only downside is that the kitchen lacked a few utensils such as a jug (if there is one we couldn't find it) and we could only find one cloth to wipe the sides with after cooking. The bathroom is lovely but it's a shame there is only one bathroom, with there being 6 of us and one bathroom was the only downside, overall though this is a beautiful place to stay.

There are a couple of suggestions I would make. A separate toilet would be first. Could also do with some small sharp knives for chopping and for steaks. But otherwise it was a lovely enjoyable stay and would consider it again. It's situated in a great place for exploring the surrounding areas and definitely plenty to do.

  • "We really enjoyed our week at Capel Mawr - it was well-equipped & spacious & in a great location for exploring north Wales."

The flat was spotlessly clean & the beds comfy, with possibly the best shower ever! Parking wasn't an issue as no one was in the downstairs property at the time. There was no sign of the raised decked seating area or summerhouse, so no outside space. Having the only toilet in the bathroom was inconvenient, but we knew to expect that. The 2 main issues for us were: The lack of washing machine (which could have easily been added to the huge kitchen, or put in the walk-in cupboard next to the bathroom). The total lack of storage in the main bedroom. There were no drawers at all. There was a shelf in the bedroom and a shelf in the room next door (dressing room?) as well as a few hangers, but no where to unpack clothes. There was LOADS of space to add some suitable furniture, so this was strange. My husband left all his stuff in his suitcase, & I piled things on a shelf & put socks in a casserole dish! We would also recommend hooks to hang coats, a rack for shoes, and more comprehensive information for guests, including details on bins/recycling. But we'd definitely stay at Capel Mawr again. It was perfect for our holiday with our 2 grown-up children - plenty of space for everyone to spread out. We also recommend the fish & chip shop around the corner, and the Garddfon Inn in Y Felinheli.

  • "Although the stay was an experience we felt the ousting was inaccurate."

The listing stated a games room and parking for 3 cars. There was also no mention of two flights of stairs. Thankfully the ground floor flat was considerate and therefore we were able to our cars in driveway, there was no mention of shared parking. There was also a mention of pull out bed which we couldn’t find, however we had packed a camping bed for toddler. Also garden with summerhouse was listed and this was not accessible as large Boulder was placed at back of gate entrance. Heating was on constantly and there was very little ventilation.

Thank you for your feedback. There is parking for two cars which is advertised on the website. We have amended the listing to show two flights of stairs. We will address your comments about the Summerhouse and the boulder being placed at the back gate entrance. Heating can be adjusted, had we been made aware we could have rectified this. We do hope you had an enjoyable stay. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "The apartment is beautiful."

A lovely refurbishment. We loved the space (with 3 teenagers) the location for exploring north wales. The quality of the beds, pillows was high therefore good sleep! We were concerned prior to the holiday we’d hear the guests in the downstairs apartment but we never heard a sound. Downsides were… only 1 toilet. Bathroom was beautiful and great shower but with only 1 toilet and 6 of us it was difficult at times. We knew this prior to the holiday but we’re used to more. The cooker also has no temperature markings so made life slightly difficult. We feel if you wanted to, you could easily convert the storage cupboard next to the bathroom to a toilet and basin as the plumbing is already there. It would be much appreciated!! But for comfort and glamour we loved it

Most of the apartment was beautifully furnished and the bathroom had a luxurious roll top bath that we all enjoyed. Bedrooms were large and the beds were all comfy - as were the plentiful large sofas in the lounge area. A second toilet would have been super useful but wasn't a deal breaker. Notes on how to use the oven would be ideal - particularly since all of the markings have rubbed off so we were having to make guesses as to which knob to use and where we thought the right temperature would be. Overall, we had a really pleasant stay - thank you.

It is extremely comfortable and has so many nooks and crannies to sit and enjoy. It was immaculately clean upon Which goes a long way to the enjoyment of this apartment. Have to say the acoustics are great if you fancy singing whilst staying. The village has a Co-op, Spar, fish and chip shop and a hair and beauty salon. It does not have washing facilities so may be worth considering a trip to the laundrette in Caernarfon. However, be prepared for a climb of 24 steps up to the apartment on arrival and every time you go out. This makes it unsuitable for the elderly (unless fit) and the infirm.

  • "An hour after we arrived we experienced water coming through the kitchen ceiling (it was raining) and called the owner to report the situation."

He answered and said that he would be round the next morning to take a look. He did not arrive the next morning and we never received a call or text to say he was not coming. In fact he did not come round or contact us all week. We therefore had a kitchen bowl and towel on the kitchen floor all week collecting the water leak from the roof each time it rained. The cleanliness of the kitchen was disappointing. The dishwasher stank and we refused to use it on that basis. There was no spare dishwasher salt that we could use to try to rectify the problem. The cooker and oven had no labelling (temperature settings etc) which effectively rendered it useless. The crockery and cutlery was unclean and not of a standard we would have expected in a rental property so we washed items that we wanted to use. Some of the kitchen cupboards were full of junk. Island counter surface was dirty and having lent against it on the first morning had to change a jumper. All handles felt sticky and dirty to touch. Several lamps needed new bulbs which we did find and change. The toilet handle drips every time you flush it. The toilet brush was shocking. On our return home we sent the owner a photograph of the roof identifying a missing roof slate which was probably the cause of the leak. We also expressed our disappointment that he had not come round or had the courtesy to contact us to which he responded "Didn't want to disturb you as you seemed to want to keep yourself to yourself" We don't know how he came to this decision as we had contacted him immediately that the problem arose when we arrived. Overall our experience was a lot lower than we had expected. If asked if we would stay here again it would be a no but on a positive note the apartment was a great space but rough around the edges. We will choose yes to publishing our feedback. However it would be your decision to maybe see this property for yourself and make your decision as to what is acceptable for your website reputation.

Sometimes the room as shown on the website is slightly bigger than you find in reality. Not so with Capel Mawr. The property

Capel Mawr is an impressive and stunning apartment forming part of a converted chapel in the centre of the village of Llanrug, which is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only three miles from Llanberis.

This stunning property is perfect if you’re looking for something a little bit different, somewhere to celebrate that special birthday or anniversary perhaps?

Or just a great base to get together with friends and family to discover and experience the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, stunning mountains and scenery and the superb coastlines this area has to offer.

This magnificent property has an elegant ground floor entrance with two large glazed double doors opening into the entrance vestibule which immediately gives you the feeling of space.

The two original staircases sweeping to the left and right, one of which leads up to the magnificent first floor apartment, and is just a taster of what’s to come!

Upstairs the unique circular open plan living area is immense and naturally divided into three areas, a wonderful sitting area, kitchen area and a dining area on a mezzanine platform, this is a wonderful space for socialising.

Capel Mawr has been lovingly restored by its current owner, and has been a true labour of love with so many original features and attributes skilfully restored with other parts of the chapel being adapted to form integral parts of the property.

You are immediately drawn to the beautiful ceiling painted in pastel shades to emphasise the ornate coved ceiling with central roses and cornices, all enhanced with spot lighting.

The sitting area is so relaxing and comfortable, perfect for chilling out after a long day walking on the mountains.

The dining area, on a raised exposed timber mezzanine provides the perfect place for a more formal dining experience and is dominated by a massive circular window, and to the left and right hand side of the dining area a small flight of stairs lead down to a lower, more discreet seating area providing a nice little hideaway for you to enjoy some quiet time to reflect.

The kitchen area is very much in keeping with the original building where further parts of the chapel have been utilised to create a bespoke kitchen.

Everything you could possibly need is catered for and the large pitch pine island and breakfast bar with stools provides a less formal place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or late supper over a bottle of wine and reminisce over the day’s adventures.

Three spacious bedrooms, two double rooms and a twin room, plus the family bathroom all radiate off the living accommodation.

Each bedroom is tastefully furnished and individually styled and all feature the original arched windows.

The main bedroom benefits from having a feature sink in a carved ornate surround and a double door leads through to a dressing room with full length wardrobes and a sofa bed, lending a little more flexibility to the sleeping arrangements and accommodation.

The bathroom is beautifully appointed with a modern roll-top bath on clawed feet, perfect for a long relaxing soak after a long day out walking; nothing like it to ease away those aches, there is a separate shower cubicle and washbasin inset into the original chapel pulpit.

Outside there is a crushed gravel area providing parking for 3 cars and a raised decked seating area and summerhouse, ideal for sitting out after a busy day and relaxing with a glass of something chilled.

Just a short stroll from this apartment are two village pubs, both serve meals and there are walks in abundance.

Llanberis is just three miles away and offers an array of shops, Electric Mountain which is well worth a visit, plus there are numerous watersports on the lake, as well as it being one of the main starting points for hiking up to the summit of Snowdon.

Fancy something a little less strenuous then take the train instead, or jump on the narrow gauge steam railway that runs the length of Llyn Padarn and enjoy a five-mile return trip taking in some wonderful scenery on the way.

Slightly further afield, why not visit the town of Caernarfon with its historic and majestic castle and the Isle of Anglesey is just waiting to be discovered?

Whatever you fancy doing there is something for everyone and Capel Mawr provides a wonderful base from which to explore from and is a very special place to spend some quality time with friends and family.

This beautiful property will have you wanting to return time and time again.
