It was very clean, spacious and had everthing we needed. The garden was lovely. It was a perfect location for us, planes and trains, beach about a 20min walk from cottage......perfect. This was our first visit to Station House, and we will definately book again, as it is the perfect getaway, especially for a chill out week!!

  • "This is the second time we have stayed in this property and we are returning next summer."

Having stayed recently in the autumn you soon realize this house lacks comfortable furniture. Lamps in the living room and a fire. This would add to a comfortable stay while spending more time indoors. I'm still baffled that a dog friendly property has continued without a fence to keep the dogs safe has not been addressed. The metal playpen was pathetic. Ok if you were bringing the rabbit. We had to bring our own fencing. We really hope this problem is sorted over the winter

Dear Mr. Slater. Thank you very much for coming to see us again. When we Refurbished the property a few years ago, the decision was made to seal up the fireplace as having open fires for the general public was not the best of ideas. A few lamps I can easily sort. When the property was originally refurbished, it was not to take pets, but as more and more people wanted to bring a dog, we thought we would make it accessible for Guest to bring their pets, This did not mean making the property in anyway safe for dogs to be loose . It mainly means that if you want to bring your dog you can, but maybe the best thing for me to do would be to retract it from taking pets at all. Kind regards. Charles and Gwen Property Owner

Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would highly recommend staying here at The Station house. Hoping to return in the near future for a longer stay. Temporary fence in the store room which is easy to assemble if you have dogs , we have 2 dogs and it was never a problem letting them out in the garden. The Station House is a lovely character property in an amazing location. We enjoyed watching the trains , also the planes from RAF Valley , especially the jet planes. Rhosneigr beach 20 minute walk or a couple of minutes drive , beaches are beautiful. Golf club near by , can go in the clubhouse for a drink and food , staff very friendly. Valley not far away and trearddur bay worth a visit. Thanks to Charles and Glen Will be booking again very soon Ian , Maxine and Rocky and Rosie ( Dogs)

Very peaceful and quiet at times with great views of wildlife and then very loud bustling and noisy when the big jets and the trains arrive at the same time.....Great fun.... Really enjoyed our stay and have booked for next year already.

  • "First and foremost I really cannot understand some of the negative reviews around the garden not being enclosed."

We booked this house a while back before changes were made to the listing and even then it was extremely clear that the garden was not enclosed. "Dog friendly" DOES NOT and has never meant that a garden is enclosed, it just means dogs are welcome, usually subject to rules like not going on the furniture. It's up to responsible dog owners to read the information in the listing and take a view on whether their dog will be ok and/or they can make arrangements. I cannot believe the review from someone who said they left early because the garden wasn't enclosed, you've got to be pretty unintelligent to not read the listing, not look at the photos, pay the money, turn up and then say you're unhappy about something that's very clearly on the photos and in the listing. I don't actually think it's possible for fencing to be put in because there's a telegraph/electricity pylon on the drive and the owner also mows the lawn using a ride on mower so would need to be able to get in. In any case we've been travelling with our dog for 10 years and I've never seen such silly reviews about the garden not being enclosed. Even if a garden does say it's enclosed you as an owner have to make your own assessment as there's always a hole or two that the dog can find. It seems really unfair that the overall rating can be affected by these reviews. Anyway, we had an absolutely amazing time. We had been camping the week before and so had with us some fencing that we use to contain our cocker spaniel which worked perfectly for us. Other solutions available to sensible people are a stake that you can attach your dog to in the garden. You will want something because as the name suggests the house is next to the Rhosneigr train station and although there was a gate at the station you just never know. Even though we had our own fencing, we never left our dog out there alone. However, you're going to want to sit in the garden whenever the weather allows Monday-Friday to watch the planes. It really was amazing. We saw the "usual" training planes as well as F35s, Typhoons and the red arrows. I'm not even massively into planes but I found it fascinating. My husband is from an RAF family so for him it was truly amazing. We liked the house so much that we actually didn't venture far much as we didn't want to miss anything. The owner of the property obviously wants people to have a nice time. The house was spotless, beds were comfy and the TV was really really good. The kitchen was well equipped - we cooked most nights and didn't find anything we didn't have. The bathroom was modern and clean and a lovely place to have a nice bath. There's a downstairs loo and our only suggestion would be perhaps to put a sofa bed in the front sitting room and move the sofa into the living/dining room so that there's more comfy seating in there and so that people who don't/can't venture upstairs can sleep downstairs. All in all this place is fantastic and we will absolutely be back, in fact I've already checked availability for later in the year. We can't recommend this house enough.

  • "Absolutely loved this house."

It was warm, comfortable and clean with excellent car parking space. Everything we needed was provided and was in good condition. We did worry a little about it being close to the railway station but it actually added to the character of the place. The only improvement that could be made is an extension to the fence around the back garden to stop pets and small children from wandering off. Apart from that, evening was perfect. Thank you.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend this for a couple or a family up to five as the property itself and garden are quiet spacious."

Local facilities are nearby as are the golf course, beach, shop, pubs and restaurants. There are not a lot of these as Rhosneigr is only a small town. We particularly enjoyed the training aircraft flying overhead from RAF Valley. We even saw a red Arrow ( only one ). The train station is obviously very nearby but trains are few and far between and quiet with hardly any at night. I recommend a visit to Newborough with a walk through the forest all the way to the lighthouse. We saw a red squirrel ( only one of these as well ). Beaumaris and on to Pen Mon isn't a long drive and we enjoyed a visit to Plas Newydd with it's gardens and view along the Menai Straits including Bridge. You can walk across country via the lake to the Oystercatcher without going through town. ( 30 mins ). We have been to about 30 different locations over the last 10 or so years. West Coast of Ireland, Cornwall, North West and East, Scotland mainland and islands and we found this property to be our favourite. Thankyou.

  • "The cottage was really nice clean and comfortable, the down side was no enclosed garden to allow our dogs to play outside, although the cottage owners allow pets and maintain dog friendly unfortunately without an enclosed garden its not a dog friendly environment."

Had we had realised there was no enclosed garden we certainly would not of booked the cottage, that was a huge disappointment which led us to cut our holiday short by two days, some previous holiday stay customers in their written review at the cottage stated the same comments on no enclosed garden for pets, really surprised the owners hav,nt reacted on these comments and fully enclosed the garden (some comments were over a year old) if at anytime in the future the owners were to enclose the garden we would certainly consider a return visit, everything else about the cottage was good and positive but not dog friendly.

Dear Steve . Thanks for your feedback, I am really pleased you enjoyed our station house. I am sorry about the not being able to let the dogs run outside.I have asked Sykes to reiterate that the garden isn’t enclosed more in the listings. Thanks again for your feedback . There are only two things I would draw the attention of the owners to. Firstly the instructions regarding the heating system are too brief and we never managed to turn the hot water on without the central heating. Secondly we struggled with the single bed quilt cover which kept sliding off the protector which was very slippy. One that closes at the end (buttons or zip) would help. Overall we loved the property and the area and were sorry to leave.

Thank you Jackie for your info, we have ordered covers with zips . Also the hot water always comes on when you turn on the tap , you didn't need the heating on , i shall correct that in the information booklet. Best Regards Charles and Gwen Property Owner

The house has been beautifully furnished and the facilities are excellent. The kitchen has everything you need, the views from the large windows are lovely. The large bathroom is a great room for a relaxing bath. There are plenty of walks to do and the village is within walking distance. My favourite room was the sitting room with a wonderful bureau. We were lucky to hear and see 2 F35 aircraft which made our day. We will certainly book to stay again. Thank you very much for a wonderful and relaxing holiday.

Perhaps a better information package, giving instructions on recycling and what to do with the bedding. A 4 slice toaster and possibly a mat by the patio doors. There were also quite a few dead flies on the landing and in the back bedroom that I cleaned up. But these are only minor things and overall I had a great break. Thanks

  • "The cottage was excellent."

The only very minor problems were that we could not lock the utility room extension and remove the key from the outside, so we locked it from the inside and exited from the other door. The bathroom brass knob fell off. We could not find the screw or I would have fixed it as I had my tool kit with me. We were soon used to being careful to turn it carefully so that it stayed on. Our friends were at the last minute, unable to come so we only used one double bedroom and left the other two undisturbed. Otherwise the accommodation was excellent, comfortable, very clean with adequate cooking facilties, crockery, cutlery electric kettle, toaster and hot water. The password for Wyfi is on the back of the router near the front door.

Good off road parking for 3 cars, great WiFi and 2 tvs downstairs. Garden not fully enclosed but we used the plastic fencing in the shed to help prevent our dog from wandering off. The immediate area was very nice, town within walking distance and also a good walks to the beach in-between the caravan park and golf course, good local restaurants and takeaways near by and 2 local shops. • "Although it states it has a secure garden and is suitable for dogs, unfortunately it isn’t."

The garden isn’t secure and our dog immediately ran into the train tracks which is directly located on the driveway of the property. There is also an electric fence behind the property which is easily accessible to the dog. We required a secure area in which to let our dog relax and so we could relax. Unfortunately we couldn’t do that. The property itself is very clean and has plenty of amenities. Bring your own salt, pepper, oil, sugar etc. washing products are provided.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you were found the property clean and amenities plentiful, however as a self-catering property perishable cooking items are not provided for hygiene reasons. We are sorry to disappoint you with this, also with the description of the garden. Although the property has an enclosed garden to the rear, we can never guarantee a secure area for dogs. We are sorry to hear that your dog escaped, the train station is opposite the property and is fenced off from the road. The electric fence is not part of this property and keeps a neighbouring pony in his field, usually switched off. Thank you for bringing these aspects to our attention, we are constantly monitoring ways which we can improve guest experience and will take your feedback on board. We hope that you enjoyed the area and all it has to offer along with the other aspects property. Thank you, The Menai Team Property Owner
