"This is an ideal place to explore that area of Scotland."
-
"Excellent. Well equipped and very comfortable."
Quiet location but good access to attractions and places of interest.
-
"Owners very friendly and helpful."
Peaceful country setting with lots of wildlife including a flock of swallows. Good long walks. All facilities we needed and comfortable. Thank you.
-
"The property is very comfortable and has all the equipment required for a week’s holiday."
The provision of a beautiful homemade sponge cake on our arrival was a lovely gesture which we appreciated. The location is good for visiting several places of interest eg Dumfries House, Drumlanrig Castle. However, it was difficult to find anywhere locally that provided evening meals which was disappointing for us. However, anyone who is happy to self-cater for a week can purchase provisions locally.
Thank you Judith for your feedback, great that you visited Dumfries House and pleased that you enjoyed the cake. Property Owner

"A great place to stay, in rural setting with great access to explore Scotland near and far."

"A beautiful home, very clean and has everything needed for a home from home stay."
Owners had gone to the trouble to put a Christmas tree up which was much appreciated. Great location, quiet, and easy to travel to points of interest. Owner took the time to check in on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The only thing worth noting is the mattress on the double bed, it was uncomfortable, almost dipping in the middle; minor and would not put us off returning. I fully recommend this property to families and we would definitely return. Thank you for having us in your lovely home.
Hi John Mattresses have been replaced in both bedrooms last week. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you in the future happy new year Jason Cristy and Erin Property Owner

"A super cottage in countryside / farm setting with views stretching to Arran in the distance."
The cottage was well proportioned with everything we needed for our stay, plenty of room to spread out and ideal location to exploring the wider area of Ayrshire.

"Wonderful cottage excellent hosts."

The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. Would recommend and stay again
-
"Our stay was fantastic, we had a glorious week of sunshine and to top things off the cottage was beautiful inside and out."
We would definitely recommend to our friends and family and hope to return very soon!

"We had an absolutely lovely stay at Darnhay Cottage, the weather wasn’t kind to us on a couple of days, but the comfort of the cottage more than made up for it."
We did manage to get out and about, even though it feels like the middle of nowhere, you aren’t far away from anywhere. We loved the big TV and the log burner was great, the beds were extremely comfortable and the linens and towels were very nice. We especially enjoyed the beautiful cake that was waiting for us on arrival. Thank you.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay."
The cottage is very clean and the surroundings are beautiful. So peaceful and quiet. Plus the lovely cake was a very nice and kind gesture
-
"Very comfortable, peaceful and relaxing stay - and the cake was delicious."
-
"Lovely clean, well-equipped cottage."
Despite the weather, we had a great much-needed break and the cottage was so good that we didn’t really worry about not going out too much. Saying that, we did have good days out travelling on the coastal route (beautiful views of Arran) and walking in the grounds of Dumfries House. The Victoria sponge on arrival was an extra bonus and delicious!

"Lovely clean and welcoming cottage which was very well equipped."
. Only negative was it was a bit cold as heating was set at 21 degrees . Highly recommend and would stay again
-
"Unfortunately I was cold in the cottage and the owner controlled the heating temperature setting."
No logs were available to purchase from the owners either. I also found the bed extremely uncomfortable.
Julie, we are disappointed with the feedback you have left. The heating is on constantly during winter months and is controlled by a thermostat that the occupant has control of. Regarding the logs I can only sell them if I have them and they are readily available from the local shops and supermarket. I would not sell people unseasoned logs which can be difficult to burn. Regarding the beds which there are three we have not had any bad comments on any and one is a new mattress this year, but we all have a different preference on mattress type. Property Owner

"A lovely quiet cottage, well equipped and in a good location."
Friendly hosts who were around if needed. We explored the coast, had a day on Arran and a leg stretch at Loch Doon. We would return if we plan to holiday in this area again.
-
"The owners, Jason & Cristy were very friendly, approachable and helpful with regard to places to visit and eat in the area."
Basically they were there if we needed them otherwise they left us to our holiday - ideal hosts!
-
"Came as a last minute booking."
The cottage was excellent for our party of 4 adults. Well equipped and a lovely cake on arrival! The hosts were friendly, gave us all the information we needed and left us alone to get on with our holiday. Had we needed them, they were available and very approachable. An excellent spot, plenty of parking, great views and loads of bird life. Would highly recommend, it's a brilliant location for seeing this area. Thank you Jason and Cristy.

"Beautiful fresh clean cottage."
Upstairs well appointed but low combed ceilings. Watch out for the edge of the bed frame upstairs it can catch your shin by surprise! Everything necessary for a relaxed holiday is provided. The wood burning stove is so warm and welcoming and heats the whole house in no time at all. You need a car to get about but not far from Ayr to enjoy a walk on the Promenade there are plenty nice restaurants to enjoy in Ayr also. The Sorn Inn in Sorn is also very welcoming for a good hot meal. Even in October we enjoyed excellent weather and were able to sit out on the patio and enjoy a glass of wine. Great place to unwind. We all enjoyed our stay. Many thanks to the friendly owners !

"Me and my young family had a brilliant time in Darnhay Cottage."
It's a fantastic barn conversion suitable for families of four or couples. Christy is a welcoming host, and you can easily explore Ayrshire and Galloway from the base. We also ventured north to Loch Lomond, which was a bit further, but certainly manageable in a day. Would thoroughly recommend Darnhay Cottage for anyone keen to explore the stunning scenery of the area!
-
"Excellent cottage, clean, well maintained and cosy, in a peaceful location."
Comfy beds and nice log fire, which was lit on our arrival. The on-site Owners were very accommodating with great knowledge of the area, they gave help when needed and recommended good places to eat. Situated close to Ayr for shopping and the beach. Within walking distance of Mauchline and Sorn, in a lovely part of Scotland and we highly recommend this cottage.

"We’ve stayed in quite a few cottages over the years now and this is the most stunning one we’ve had it was extremely clean and well looked after."
The weather was very kind to us considering we went on the 16th November no rain whatsoever! The wood burning stove was very welcoming once it was lit and extremely warm in the cottage. We had days out every day, Glasgow, Edinburgh Ayr and Kilmarnock all within 1&1/2 hours from the cottage 11 out of 10 I would give it if I could thank you for a lovely week

"Fantastic fantastic fantastic!"
!! We had a fabulous week at Darnhay cottage. The cottage is beautiful and has a lovely modern traditional feel. The cottage is very well equipped with all mod cons such as washer and dishwasher. The owners are very welcoming and happy to help in any way. The cottage is in the middle of nowhere, which for us was lovely as it was so quiet and peaceful. There are shops, pubs and local take aways a short 5/10 mins drive away. It was a perfect base for us to stay and explore Scotland. It was 1.5 hours from Edinburgh castle which was a fantastic day out, Ayr beach is lovely and clean and an hour away from Weymiss port to catch the ferry to Bude which was a brilliant day out. As a note, I am a wheelchair user and the cottage was very easy to access due to the slope to the front door and due to the cottage being open plan it was very easy to manovre around. Highly recommended from a family of four - would definitely return!! :-)

"We had a warm welcome."
The cottage is well equiped with everything you need.
-
"We were booked into Darnhay Cottage but because the owner was doing work on the cottage we were up graded to the Milkhouse Darnhay which had recently been finished being renovated and was pristine and very new and great."
On a clear day you could see the Isle of Arran from the picture window, the surroundings were exceptional and in a good position to get to most attractions easily. All in all a very very pleasant week.
-
"Lovely cottage in peaceful surroundings."
Owners very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Excellent base for visiting many historical places. Weather was a bonus for February.
-
"A beautiful very clean cottage set in lovely countryside."
Hosts close at hand if you need anything and very friendly - a wonderful home baked cake was left for us on arrival.. A beautiful quiet setting but within easy travelling distance of the coast and many local towns. The main downside is no internet connection but the owners advise that this is due to be remedied in the near future. We would not fail to recommend the cottage.
-
"A lovely cottage providing excellent accommodation."
It is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding areas.
-

The owners on site were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We had some enjoyable days out without having to travel too far. We fully intend to stay there again.
