  • "Black damp behind headboard."

Step in kitchen. Clothes got damp even in wardrobe. Blunt knives. Entrance by the house looks like a caravan scrap yard. Plus side good location. Toastie in the living room with wall heating and fire lit. Lovely view. Good walking and secure garden.

The property

Kilchoan 4 miles.

A charming stone-built detached cottage, superbly located on a hillside in the small, isolated village of Portuairk, the most westerly settlement on the British mainland, at the western end of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.

From its elevated location this Scotland cottage provides breathtaking views over the sea to the Isle of Skye and the small islands of Muck, Eigg, Rhum and Canna.

This Scotland self-catering cottage would suit those who want to appreciate the tranquillity and stunning landscape, with its fabulous sandy beaches and abundance of wildlife.

The cosy accommodation in this Scotland cottage includes a well-equipped kitchen, a bright sitting/dining room with woodburner and also a double sofa bed if needed.

The double bedroom is very spacious and comfortable, ideal for a restful sleep after a day of boat trips, sandy beaches, island-hopping and good walking.

All the windows of this Scotland cottage look out over the sea and across to the fabulous sands of Sanna Beach, a short walk away.

The neat and private front garden has a patio with dining area - a great place to enjoy an alfresco meal or drink.

The nearby village of Kilchoan has a well-stocked shop and is also the ferry terminal providing regular daily trips across to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, so why not nip across the waters to enjoy a meal out on Mull or perhaps do some shopping in the nice array of shops Tobermory has to offer?

The nearby Ardnamurchan Lighthouse is well worth a visit, with its welcoming tea room, and there are some good hotels within a short drive of your Scotland cottage.

In fact this is a wonderful place to visit, whether for outdoor pursuits or to simply relax, chill out and enjoy the hills, sea and beaches.

About the location

KILCHOAN

Tobermory 7 miles (via ferry).

The pretty village of Kilchoan is the most westerly village in mainland Britain, situated on the stunning Ardnamurchan Peninsula and surrounded by magnificent mountains and breathtaking coastal views. The area close to Kilchoan offers a choice of quiet sandy beaches and an abundance of wildlife with eagles regularly spotted overhead. Until 1900 the village was only accessible by sea, but now access is via a single track road that leads through some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland. The village has good local services including a shop, pub, restaurant and community centre. From Mingary Pier there is a regular ferry service across the Sound of Mull to Tobermory which gives the opportunity to explore the islands of Mull and Iona. There are wildlife excursions on land and sea and the new Ardnamurchan Distillery and Natural History Centre are added attractions. A short drive away is Ardnamurchan Point complete with its own lighthouse and visitor centre which is well worth a visit, or perhaps you simply want to sit on the glorious Sanna Beach and enjoy the views across the clear blue sea to the islands of Muck, Eigg and Rum?
