  • "The location close to Saint Keverne is great and the rural surrounds with garden are really nice."

Liked to watch the bats fly around the adjoining firlds and house at night! The cottage is now a bit dated and could do with a refurb but it was fine for what we wanted close to the Lizard for walks with the dog.

All the electrical equipment has been updated in the kitchen.OK it is not a modern kitchen with integrated white goods but that is just it. A rural cottage!. Yes the bathroom is not the generic modern tiles and units but I suspect the grading and rental reflects this. The property is redecorated each year as well.Sorry but I describe it as traditional not dated. Property Owner

  • "We had a great time."

Clean and well equipped cottage, friendly host, beautiful surrounding, peaceful location and close to beaches and shops. It was everything we hoped for.

  • "Cottage is comfortable, with all the expected equipment."

As the owner pointed out, putting their mobile phone numbers in the key collection instructions is pointless. There are no mobile phone signals in the area of the house. In this respect the actual property listing is very accurate....a stay without phones or internet. Excellent! The only suggestion to the owners is that the bathroom is quite dated, and the it would benefit from an update / upgrade, possibly with the addition of a shower pump to improve the shower water flow. The owners took the trouble to welcome us on arrival, and tell us how to contact them, as mobiles do not work. They also provided some local info, such as the best walk to the village. Very friendly and helpful, and not intrusive.

  • "Great location, and the hosts were friendly and welcoming - they allowed us to leave bikes and bike carrier in their garage, thank you."

The accommodation is in serious need of an update. Most I could live with for a week, but the rock hard beds and very thin mattress made the stay almost unbearable. I realise it's been highlighted in previous reviews, but did not anticipate having such a bad sleep every single night. The hosts just need to stay there themselves for a week to appreciate that just a few small changes would make a massive difference to peoples experience. Such as shelves and hooks in the bathroom, replacing the washing machine (everything came out smelling worse than before), brighter light bulbs (it was very dingey in the evenings). There was no point raising these issues at the time, but hopefully honest feedback will help future guests have a more comfortable experience.

  • "Great cottage."

Friendly hosts. Amazing location. Only thing is the double mattress could be changed with a newer one.

  • "Lack of wi-fi and poor signal meant that we were unable to book excursions on-line whilst staying at the cottage."

It would be helpful for people to be aware of this before they go on holiday.

The cottage details do state now wi fi some customers have commented they like getting away from it. Property Owner

  • "Lovely little clean cottage in a remote part of the Lizard with great walks from the property."

Ideal if you are looking to get away from everything. The weather became inclement the last half of the week so it was good to have the electric fire for cosy feel. Please be aware that the steps into the cottage were very high, not a problem for us but some might find them difficult. The only down side was that unfortunately we did find the double bed extremely uncomfortable.

I have slept in this bed and did not find it uncomfortable but the single mattresses I do find firm. However the customer opinion is important and from 2022 all the mattresses are new.I hope I have picked a good all rounder. Property Owner

  • "The cottage has not been refurbished or updated since last year so the bathroom is still rather basic with a shower that is weak to say the least."

The double bed in the main bedroom has seen better days, during our stay we both suffered from sleepless nights due to suffering from back pains during the night. This resulted in my wife being in great discomfort by the Thursday and deciding to cut our stay short and leaving for home on the Friday morning. A four foot bed with an old mattress is not good enough in this day and age. Although the kitchen is sufficient it, like the rest of the cottage needs an update along with the two couches in the lounge which have also seen better days and are too low and far too soft. This is a lovely cottage in a super location it just needs some TLC.

About the location

ST KEVERNE

Helston 12 miles.

On the eastern side of The Lizard Peninsula, the pretty village of St Keverne, lying just 1.25 miles inland, is the focal point for this area, with its village pubs and shops surrounding the village square, and an impressive church spire, at one time used to guide the Cornish fishermen home. From St Keverne, you can easily explore the natural and spectacular beauty of the Lizard Peninsula by car, bicycle or on foot. You will find walled fishing harbours, tiny secret coves, sandy bays and dramatic clifftop walks along the South West Coastal path. Just north is the Helford River, a yachtsman's dream and home to Frenchman's Creek, and picturesque Helford village. A short walk takes you to Roskilly’s Farm, where you can tuck in to ice cream to die for. Further afield, visit Falmouth, with one of the world's largest natural harbours, Pendennis Castle built by Henry VIII, and of course you cannot miss out on a trip to The National Maritime Museum.
