  • "We had a pleasant stay at Fern Cottage."

It is perfectly situated in the town with everything you need on your doorstep. The cottage was very clean with good quality fixtures and fitting and a well equipped kitchen. Lots of hot water, a good shower and lovely quality towels and bed linen. Winchcombe is a delightful village with beautiful countryside within walking distance and some good places to eat.

The cottage is in a fantastic location, out the back is lovely and peaceful with beautiful scenery, a great place to sit and listen to the birds while out front your in the hustle and bustle of the town. • "The cottage is as described on the website."

Although it has 2 double bedrooms, it wouldn’t really accommodate 4 adults, due to the size of the lounge. The beds and pillows are so comfortable, with a choice of soft or firm pillows to suit all preferences. The shower is hot and powerful and the bathroom towels good quality. As described, the stairs are very steep and wouldn’t suit people with mobility problems. The kitchen is well equipped, should you want to cook, however with so many great eating options on the doorstep, we chose not to. Having a parking space allocated for the house is necessary as parking close to the property otherwise would be difficult. There’s lots of fabulous walks locally and some quaint villages and towns to visit close-by too. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.

The cottage was very clean and provided everything that you could need and the welcome pack was very much appreciated. Although the cottage is is small we managed as a family of four with teenagers. The location is perfect, with Winchcombe proving a selection of places to eat, shops and a castle to visit, but is also central to visit lots of other places within the Cotswolds. As the cottage has its own parking space to the rear there was never an issue with parking when we got back from a day out. We definitely hope to return in the future.

  • "Fern Cottage was totally amazing."

It was so well equipped, we absolutely loved staying there and cannot honestly think of any negatives. It was so cosy and warm. The owners left the best welcome pack ever too, including...fresh flowers, wine, cake and Nepresso coffee pods. You have to park at the rear of the cottage, on Silk Mill Lane as there are double yellow lines on both sides at the front of the property. There was a proper dedicated space though so this didn't bother us at all. The cottage was right in the centre of Winchcombe, which was a lovely place with plenty of cafes, antique shops, restaurants and pubs...no need to get the car out. There's also a Michelin star restaurant but we didn't go so can't comment. There's a brilliant Co Op on Greet Street...a 5 minute walk. It's much better stocked then the shop on North Street. The owners left a folder with info about the history of the cottage and local walks, which we found really useful. Our Frenchie Rosie enjoyed her stay aswell...she loved sunbathing in the South facing 'suntrap' garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fern Cottage and can definitely recommend it. We will visit again as there's still plenty that we want to see in The Cotswolds :)

The property is spotlessly clean, welcoming and cosy; not to mention beautifully decorated! The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need (and more) - dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine and a Bluetooth speaker. Relaxing in the living room of an evening is a real delight, there are plenty of books and magazines, a fabulous fire and Netflix on the TV. Upstairs the Master bedroom is very comfortable with luxury bed linen and fluffy towels. The views out to the rear are incredible - a real highlight for us. In terms of location, we really enjoyed being in the centre of the stunning Cotswold town of Winchcombe, which has plenty of local restaurants, shops and cafes, plus a lovely little bakery. The cottage is a short walk away from Sudeley Castle, which is well worth a visit, whilst other local walks take in the surrounding countryside. Winchcombe is close to Broadway, Chipping Campden and Stow-on-the-Wold, as well as being a 15 minute drive to Cheltenham. We also enjoyed visiting Bath for the day. We can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into the renovation of this period property, and it is all the little details that make it really stand out from the crowd. We will definitely be back!

We had an absolutely wonderful time there and we honestly couldn't fault any part of the trip. Nick, the host was in touch soon after the booking to check on our needs and was always on hand for anything we needed whilst we were there. The cottage itself was exactly as described, extremely clean and tidy and had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay without having to bring lots of stuff from home - it was clear that the design of the cottage had been well thought out, Nick even left some bread and cake for our arrival along with charcoal for the BBQ and most importantly (for us anyway!), some coffee pods for the Nespresso machine!! - There was also plenty of local information once you arrived, with walking books and maps all available. Rooms were all very comfortable and extremely comfy pillows meant that I ordered one on my return to London! Location wise, great! We'd never been to the Cotswolds and Winchcombe is a lovely small town (but very much feels like a village) a short drive away from Broadway, a beautifully quintessential Cotswold village with lots of independent shops, boutiques and places to eat and drink (although due to COVID, we played it safe and stuck to an ice cream on a grassy verge!). Broadway tower was also a short drive away and well worth a visit, very well set up with cafe and a beautiful view across the surrounding countryside. I've already recommended the cottage to my family and would most definitely return. A thoroughly enjoyable trip.

The cottage was cosy, spotlessly clean, had everything we could possibly need for our 3 night stay. On arrival Friday 14th February (St Valentine's day) there was a lovely welcome pack for us which included, delicious crusty bread, butter, milk, eggs, sticky toffee pudding (and cream) and even a bottle of prosecco for us to celebrate St Valentine's. So very unexpected and thoughtful (even down to a bunch of daffodils in the kitchen). Before we arrived we had an allergy related request which was accommodated without any fuss. The owner even phoned to advise that this had all been sorted. We had a super relaxing time in this beautiful cottage and the owners attention to detail is second to none. We found our week in Fern Cottage really relaxing, thanks in no small part to the supremely comfortable pillows, mattress, duvet and luxury bed linen. We appreciated the stylish finishing touches - the plants, ceramics and pictures - and the useful extras - books, maps, guides, magazines and radio. We particularly love the view from the back of the cottage with your pretty garden and the borrowed landscape of the silver birch, sheep in the fields and wooded hills beyond. Apparently I was only the 6th person to enjoy a stay. The cottage has been extremely well renovated and the furnishings were of a very high standard indeed. The furnishings and ornaments made it seem very much a home rather than a holiday cottage. The bedding and furnishings were of excellent quality. Sleeping in the very comfortable bed was just like home. The kitchen was equipped with every appliance, pots, pans, utensils, glass, crockery and cutlery you would need to execute a meal. The welcome pack of milk, bread, butter and cake was much appreciated. The added touches of good quality soaps and lotions in the bathroom was a nice thought. The cleanliness of everything in the cottage was superb. The garden was well kept and the dual access from either the front door, or through the garden to the designated parking space was very useful. Winchcombe is a lovely Cotswold town with plenty of amenities and good local produce. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I have no hesitation is recommending Fern Cottage. Believe me you will enjoy your holiday there. Thank you very much to the owners for their love and attention to detail.

  • "Fern Cottage is absolutely lovely."

We've stayed at around a dozen cottages in the last couple of years alone and Fern Cottage ranks amongst the best two or three that we've stayed in. As a couple, we have high expectations - and Fern Cottage delivered on all counts. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped, with plenty of chopping boards, sharp knives, oven ware and more tools and gadgets than we are used to having at most cottages. There were dishwasher tablets, washing machine pods and a handwash in the kitchen, too - and trust me when I say that not all cottages provide these essentials. For entertainment, there was also a digital radio as well as a Bluetooth speaker in the kitchen alone. There was also a generous welcome pack with bread, eggs, milk and a delicious sticky toffee pudding. The bed in the master bedroom was wide and the mattress very comfortable. The shower had excellent shower pressure. There was a bottle of handwash and hand cream in the bathroom - as well as a room fragrance. The whole cottage was clean and has been renovated in a fairly contemporary but sympathetic fashion. Adding to the overall ambience, there were plenty of framed prints, paper weights, books and other objects that made it feel very homely and warm. The long, narrow garden and patio were tidy and we enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine that streams into the garden in the mornings and at lunchtime. Our dog very much enjoyed wandering up and down the garden and sniffing to his heart's content. The host (Jen) sent a warm email asking if we had any questions. We had no questions or problems so didn't need to get in touch with her. But I got the impression that she would have been warm and friendly if we had needed to contact her for anything. We would definitely recommend Fern Cottage.
