  • "We had a great holiday."

The owners and their daughters were very welcoming and helpful. Nothing too much trouble for them. Dogs were so friendly, such characters. The countryside around the property is delightful with lovely walks and lots of wildlife. If you spot eggs for sale at the end of properties in the local lanes, buy them. They are so fresh and delicious and much cheaper than the shops. Thank you also to the owners for the gift of Butty Bach, Weston's cider and local crisps. Certainly great introduction to local produce which we've bought to take home with us.

  • "We had a fantastic week in this gem of a cottage."

It is close to lots of places but feels a million miles away. The cottage was clean, well maintained and had everything you need, a real home away from home. Mr and Mrs Mitchell are friendly and helpful and the alpacas, sheep and dogs were an added bonus. We are already tempted to rebook for our next time off as we enjoyed ourselves so much. Thankyou!

  • "We had a pleasant stay at Valley View last week."

Paul and Edwina have created a very comfortable space in an old cowshed. They have decorated and appointed it to a very high standard. We had long conversations with Paul but unfortunately weren't able to meet Edwina. Monty and Hector (their dogs) also kept us entertained. Their alpacas and sheep are also lovely. We had great lunches at various pubs from Hereford to Walford and would particularly recommend Wellington Inn near British Camp and The Mill Race at Walford very close to Howle Hill. Do not rely on your car GPS to get you here, you will reach Edge Hill Farm accurately with What 3 Words. Road from Coughton via Sharman Pitch going up Howle Hill is slightly wider and in good condition, therefore easier for a first time visitor. Thank you Paul and Edwina for the milk, coffee, teabags, crisps, local cider and ale, much appreciated.

  • "We had a lovely week."

We know the weather at the end of Feb is unpredictable but we enjoyed a 'change of scenery', local visits and a relaxing week in a warm, comfortable cottage. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Directions to the cottage were quite vague, we had to phone the owners late Sat afternoon for directions. Some key 'pointers' would have helped - ie some signs to look out for rather than the broad/general directions given.

  • "We've just returned from a week's stay at Valley View, which was very enjoyable."

We were made to feel very welcome and found the accomodation comfortable, warm, clean and relaxing - everything we wanted. The cottage is well appointed and in a great location, particularly because there are so many lovely local walks on footpaths, bridleways and quiet rural lanes that run right from the doorway. The autumn colours in the surrounding woods were stunning. Paul gave us lots of useful information which helped, including where we could see the local zebra! It was very special to be able to watch the alpacas and sheep in the paddocks right outside the cottage too. To celebrate a special occasion, we also followed Paul's recommendation to eat at The Moody Cow, where we had a wonderful meal. The Hen and Dot cafe nearby, was a great place for coffee and cake too. Thank you Paul and Edwina - we hope to return to Valley View again in the future.

  • "We have just arrived home this afternoon after a fantastic week staying in your lovely cottage."

Firstly, we want to say Thank you for a great time. Cottage was beautiful, clean, comfortable and so peaceful. Your Daughters were also lovely. They invited us to help feed and shower the Alpacas last night which was so so lovely. Maybe a couple of ideas for the cottage : A guest book where people can write comments about their stay, any recommendations of things or places, inc pubs etc, they have been to and would recommend or vice versa. A step going into the front door maybe as I slipped stepping out of the door one evening, this being due to knee replacement. A ramp or tape where there is a small step in the kitchen as even though we knew it was there Graham did trip couple times. We will definitely be back, bringing a stand up paddle board for Graham and a fold up chair for me!! Thank you so so much. Love Helen & Graham. X Ps we hope you had a fabulous holiday.

Very tricky to find initially even using Sat-nav. Found the sofas a little uncomfortable but not too bad. Spiral staircase was no problem for me but could be awkward for some. Lovely to see the Llamas, sheep and especially the friendly dogs!

The owners were friendly and there is a welcome basket. The downsides were the tiny staircase leading to upstairs bedroom which is pretty small and has no toilet facilities. The bed was not the most comfortable. Despite listing WiFi the cottage definitely doesn’t have this. You have to go outside and find a place to stand near the owners cottage to use theirs. Despite this it’s a really lovely place and extremely well equipped. Cute friendly dogs. It’s great for walkers who are used to country roads

And I had a lovely week of exploring the area but I think the owner really needs to bear in mind that the phone signal there is virtually non existant and they dont provide wifi so as a single traveller myself its important for me to be able to keep in touch with family. I was having to walk up the road every night to get a phone signal. The owner gives you the password to their own wifi but you can only get that if you push your equipment right up against the wood burning stove and then its very weak ... the cottage next door couldnt get any signal at all . The complimentary jam crisps and cider were a very nice touch but after a 180 miles drive all you want is a cup of tea so a complimentary tea and coffee tray would have been great

The cottage was extremely well furnished and the kitchen area included a dishwasher and washing machine. The luxury bathroom had a walk in shower. Although a bit off the beaten track the quietness of the location and beautiful views from its high vantage point made it ideal for those looking for a peaceful holiday. It's just a 10min drive to Ross-on-Wye and 5mins drive to the Mill Race, the nearest Pub/restaurant. A friendly place recommended for meals. Also worth visiting is the No.3 Restaurant in Ross-on-Wye. Paul and Edwina made us feel very welcome. A nice touch was the welcome basket which included some local goodies. A bonus for keen gardeners is Howle Hill Nursery, just a couple of minutes walk away. This is a gardener's paradise which has won 9 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower show, so well worth a visit. We had a week of hot sunny weather so the coolness of the cottage with its thick walls, made coming back to it after a day touring around, a pleasure. Highly recommended.
