  • "Seaview cottage is a great "base camp" to explore and walk the wonders of Clare."

Have been returning to this property for many years now and just love Clare in the Autumn. The views from "seaview" are stunning and the house feels so "homely". Will be back again.

  • "Seaview cottage is in an absolute stunning location and we absolutely enjoyed our stay very much, but there were a couple of issues need addressing, the house in the picture does not portray a true state of the house externally, paint peeling from every part of it and weeds along the front of the house, cleanliness inside was not too bad but could be a lot better, oven had not been cleaned, burned chips in it, dishwasher was all dirty with food particles on the bottom of it from last wash."

Coffee table in sitting full of marks, no attempt to hide it, rug in sitting room very dirty, TV remote not working properly, couldn't use it, had to go a buy one for ourselves, light at back of house not working properly, cobwebs and dust in some windows of bedrooms. No outside trash bins, only one small one inside, The high chair had a lump taken out of the table part and was dangerous for cutting baby's hands. There was no bucket to take out ashes from fireplace, The host needs to have an information booklet for guests , for example where to expose of rubbish, heating instructions etc, nearby shops, doctors etc. We did love the character and spaciousness and scenery around the house and have booked to stay again in January 25. This is constructive feedback and recommendations and should not be taken for something negative. Thank you.

  • "This old cottage is in such a lovely spot with views of the Atlantic and walking distance to the beach."

I chose the cottage as it was pet friendly and my 2 great Danes had the BEST holiday...loved seeing the cows, lamas, sheep and hundreds of bunnies in the fields. There were some issues with the cottage but Josie responded immediately. If you like a firm mattress, then you'll be grand. The bathroom needs some attention and the cottage needs some tlc but despite this, I plan to return. Great value and certainly livable.

  • "The septic tank of the house was full, and the owner couldn't get it emptied during our stay."

So there was a lingering smell throughout the house of sewage. The house boasts three bedrooms, but only one had a functioning radiator. Only when we raised the issue with the owner did a neighbor come to turn them on, with difficulty. As the knobs were gripped shut, having not been opened in a long time. Even one of the radiators had to be bled, to release the built up air! Items in the kitchen were not clean (i.e., hot water kettle), and the fridge freezer was packed with ice. The microwave did not work, and the dishwasher was full of washed dishes. This property turned out to be a big disappointment and certainly not worth the money paid.

The house was very clean and really warm. The kitchen was well equipped for all our cooking needs. We had a great stay and looking forward already to another visit to Fanore and the Burren soon.

Elle aurait besoin d'un grand nettoyage général approfondi, en particulier la cuisine (le robinet d'eau froide fonctionne mal) et la salle de bains.

  • "We have just returned from Seaview Cottage, Fanore, Co Clare."

Fanore is a beautiful area and a lovely place to base oneself for touring The Burren. Unfortunately, the cottage was a big disappointment. What you see in the advertisement on your site is far removed from what you get. House needs a major deep clean. House is listed as being in the village of Fanore. It is in fact, about 3 miles from village and about 12 miles from Doolin. There is a nice pub in the village but only open at weekends. To eat out, we had to travel a minimum of 12 miles. On arrival, at appointed time of 3pm, we found the back door unlocked and key on kitchen table. On a quick look around, we found the shaving light in bathroom did not work, there was no light in the en suite and no bulb in ceiling light of twin room. Also beds in twin room were not made up We rang Josie about this and she said the shaving light had not worked for a while and would need an electrician but she would send someone to replace bulbs. No one came. There was used tissue in a drawer in twin room and sweet papers and dust under the beds. Josie said she had not had time to come to the house herself but that she had sent someone to check the house before we arrived. We later found there was no light outside the back door, the radiators in two of the bedrooms did not work so rooms were very cold. Both showers had very mouldy grouting on tiles and the taps on the bath were also black with mould. We cleaned and bleached them before we used them. (Can supply before and after pictures). Fans in bathroom and en suite were filthy and clogged with dust. Dead flies on windowsills and stuck on light shade. Woodlice in living room. Dirty greasy oven. Kitchen bin had to be cleaned before use. Recycling and refuse had to be disposed of at a caravan park which was half a mile away. No outdoor bins at house. This is a lovely area as were the people we met but the house needs a lot of attention. We would not recommend it. We left on Saturday morning, at 11am, without having met or heard from Josie. We have used Sykes for holiday bookings on a number of occasions and have always found you to be very helpful. Our disappointment is not with you. Weather is mixed but adds to the adventure. Having a good internet is a big +++++++. The coffee in Ennistymon is superb.

The cottage is well kitted out, is warm and cosy, and the host, Josie, is kind and helpful. WiFI is mostly excellent (one day was lost due to a break in the fibre).

  • "The cottage is excellent value for money and located in a very beautiful area."

It certainly met our expectations, and Josie the housekeeper was extremely friendly and helpful. Key pick up was smooth as Josie lives very nearby. Comfortable cottage, wifi excellent, tv with several channels, dvd player and discs available. Shop and pub nearby and beach also. Very good location for sightseeing in this area, the Burren, cliffs of Moher, Doolin and Lisdoonvarna on your doorstep. Well worth a trip!

Josie was fantastic, prompt, and most importantly friendly. If there were any issues they were worked out in a timely manner. The sunsets are indescribable, make sure you don’t miss them. The sense of peace and relaxation I had while at the house will be so missed. I can’t wait for my next trip back to Ireland.
