Thank you for your feedback. We’re delighted you had a lovely stay at our house. We would like to disagree with your comments in regards to the cleanliness of the kitchen and the lack of utensils as there is enough of equipment for the number of people the house can accommodate. Also there to say that there is a wardrobe in every bedroom in the house. Property Owner

  • "As the owner will be aware we had an unfortunate start as the door code provided was not correct."

Efforts to contact the named person were initially unsuccessful. When we did so he said that he was unaware the code had been changed and speculated that it was often changed without updating him. We tried several alternatives whilst waiting outside and marvellously got lucky. Inside the property seemed clean and appliances ready to go. It became obvious that a number of lightbulbs were not working – it’s a shame that in such a big house no one thinks to check these things. The most annoying revelation was the lack of additional entertainment in the property. The TV was only connected to a SKY box with no access to an aerial so we were unable to cast to it from our own devices. None of us has a SKY account. There was a second equally useless TV in the bedroom without an aerial cable. Some provision should be made to allow guests to access the TV! We all experienced problems using the fancy shower fittings. Whilst there was plenty of hot water supplied to the sinks for some reason this did not extend to the dual showers. Very disappointing for all. We noted that there appears to be some wet rot in the floor boards of the family bathroom upstairs. We are mystified that the property could have won an award in 2019. There was no written welcome, advice on WiFI etc. It was hard to escape the conclusion that Guests’ needs were an afterthought.

  • "We had a great stay here."

The house is very spacious, clean, well equipped and perfectly situated on Mulroy Bay. Enjoyed our evenings on the balcony with the 5 perfect sunsets that we were lucky to get. Spent our days on the beach, Fanad Lighthouse, Murderhole beach and Port Salon. I would highly recommend this holiday home. We were a party of 12 and still found places for quietness. Also had our dog Tim who enjoyed the spacious garden. Great place.

  • "Nice house let down by lack of maintenance."

Entry code changed without notice. Up stairs bathroom had an out of order notice. An upstairs ensuite room had a blocked shower and no lights. Door handle fell off in the other upstairs unsuite room. Food left in freezers from previous residents. Freezers had not been defrosted in months. So bad drawers could not be opened. No manual for appliances, where to find WiFi password etc. Final Insult could be booked cheaper on Air B n B.

  • "The property is amazing!"

So much space outside for the kids and dogs to play safely, and so much space inside for us all to live comfortably. There was plenty of cutlery, utensils, bowls, plates, pans etc which was great. Everything was very clean and tidy. It was also very warm which was lovely after a day on a cold beach! Only a few slight negatives: the water in one of the showers kept going hot and cold and the showers were a bit weird, the lights in the kitchen don't seem to work properly.. we ended up taking the bulb out of the main light as we couldn't turn it off! But overall we would definitely stay here again! Thank you

  • "This is the second time I have used this property and I didn't leave a negative review after the first time as I felt the lack of care was due to the busy summer season but instead of improving the overall care based on other negative reviews this property has got worse."

Obviously it is a business and I have no issue with that as long as it is run well but this is not. There were no batteries in the tv remote, no instructions as to use the electral items (including the very technical shower systems). No basic cleaning materials like floor cleaner or scouring pads for the trays. The windows are filthy and there are cobwebs in many places, i.e. the corners of the velux windows. In the bedroom we slept in, there were at least 50 flies in the light bowl in the bathroom. There wasn't even toilet roll in all of the bathrooms! Considering this property is so remote it is not acceptable to arrive and have to go straight out to find batteries! For the amount this property cost, this was definitely not what you would expect and although I would give the property itself a very high score, the maintenance of the property is really poor.

Hi Sue, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I am sorry you had issues and disappointed you did not contact me at the time. Although rare, minor issues can sometimes occur, however I have both maintenance and cleaning staff on hand whenever there are visitors staying. Although on this occassion it was not reported and I was therefore unable to address any concerns you may have had, I am always grateful to receive feedback and will continue to maintain the high quality our guests have come to expect. No property booklet with general information on local services (Doctors, Dentists etc.) and location. T.V. had Sky notification on BBC 1 which took up half the screen making it difficult to watch, many other channels had "Insert Sky Card" notification which we did not have. Large bathroom jacuzzi bath did not work. Not enough clothes storage in bedrooms. Incorrect postcode on booking information made the property difficult to find

  • "We were very pleased with the property and the grounds surrounding it."

The only issue we had with the property was with the ground floor bathroom door which did not lock and there was a leak from the bath. A downside to the location was that we could not leave the house on foot as it is on a country road, cars travelled at high speed, it was too dangerous to walk with the children and dogs. The nearest shop was approx 2.5/3 miles away. The food at The Village Inn in Kerrykeel was good and reasonably priced. The area is beautiful and there is a beach not too far away. It doesn't take long to get to Fanad lighthouse and seaside towns, Downings and Dunfanaghy. We enjoyed our stay but area is remote.

  • "All good things come to those who wait!"

We ( a group of 6 life long gal pals and one dog!) booked our stay at the beginning of the year for a week's adventure in Donegal in mid September. It was epic from start to finish! From our arrival into County Donegal we were overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the area visible at every turn....seascapes, lakes, mountains, national park land, beaches...all within walking or short driving distances from the house. The sun shone for the whole of our stay which was unexpected but very much appreciated, and added to the joy of the trip! Hugh's house was everything advertised and more! Immaculately presented, warm, spacious and airy with lots of space for everyone to hang out together or to just mooch around and quietly relax. The kitchen was very spacious with double sinks and freezers, a wine fridge and lots of equipment/ utensils etc making for easy cooking and entertaining. The bedrooms were a great size and the bathrooms had a variety of spa baths and double showers to enjoy . Lovely lawned garden spaces surround the house, hosting a variety of outdoor eating options - the decking at front of the house in particular was ideal for enjoying a glass of fizz while watching the sun set over the water across from the house. We took the opportunity to see as much of the area as possible and can recommend trips to Fanad Lighthouse ( do the tour- Treasa our guide was very knowledgeable and hilarious), the outstanding beaches at Portsalon and Downings to name a few, wonderful walks in Glenveagh National Park, day tripping in Tory Island and a little retail therapy in Letterkenny. We could have done so much more if we'd had more time - we now actually need a holiday after our holiday in delightful Donegal!

Hi Yvonne, So happy you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Donegal. It is glorious here but esp so when the sun shines. I’m glad our holiday home contributed positively to your stay. Thanks for the amazing feedback! Regards, Hugh Property Owner

.. Kids loved the big garden outside. We had a family get together, loads of space for everyone, nice comfy couches. Your literally 15mins away from so many beautiful beaches (portsalon is fab, downings is a drive on beach) there's, pitch and putt /foot golf close by, rockhill caravan park has area 50 for kids lots to do in there, there's go karting not too far away. Also if you drive to letterkenny there's areana 7 for rainy days/cinema/soft play areas. There's magherabeg Leisure centre 20mins away for swimming. Wildlife park about an hour away! Seriously loads to do with kids, lots of restaurants and bars in Milford which is 15mins drive , and there's a couple of places in kerrykeel too which is closer again about 10 mins drive. There's also horse rides across the beach in the town of Carrigart. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay will definitely be back
