  • "Lovely cottage, fully equiped and very comfortable."

very close to Clifden and very quiet.

  • "Rainbows End is a modern, beautifully appointed and maintained bungalow 5 minutes drive from the truly wonderful town of Clifden."

Sadly anybody with mobility issues might struggle with either a fairly steep slope or steps to reach the property. I say ‘sadly’ because once inside this cottage has everything that you would need. Great kitchen, dining area and a cosy lounge with an open fire. Crazy 20 degree weather in late September meant that we didn’t use the fire. The garden is a bit underloved but our aging pooch was fine with that. Clifden is just a gem, wonderful Wild Atlantic Way drives in several directions or Abbeys and Mountains, plus many pubs and restaurants to enjoy. We highly recommend Rainbows End, and look forward to a return visit.

The owner of the property was great, and when there was a problem with the cooker he fixed it as quickly as possible. Thank you.

  • "The directions were incorrect both on the details and when provided over the phone."

It was difficult to know it was the right cottage as there is no name on the gate but at least the photo looked like the property. I have some mobility problems and was a bit shocked at the high steps and steep slope up to the property, it was particularly difficult to carry our bags up from and down to the car. No problems with the cottage except that the heating did not work on the timer, so it was on with the switch and turned off when we didn't need it. Otherwise everything was fine especially the friendly Robin!

  • "We found the house to be well located and on the surface very clean."

But for a four day holiday rental which quite honestly was not cheap there was much need for improvement. Not one knife was sharp, so difficult and frustrating trying to cut anything. No big deal really but a little annoying. Nowhere to hang your coat. It’s the west of Ireland. It rains A LOT which it did while we were there, so might be a good idea to put some coat hooks inside the door. Also not really a big deal but not great sitting against your wet coat as the only place to put them was on the back of dining chairs. Cheap, nylon duvet covers in two of the bedrooms. It’s really not that difficult or expensive to buy cotton bed clothes making your guest slightly more comfortable. Finally what really compounded all the above points. The cleanliness. Our bedroom sheets were stained as in they were washed but old stains on the sheets and both bathrooms had hairs in the showers + bath. So basically the house was not cleaned well before we got there. We felt having paid quite a bit the standards and the level of care for guests was not very high. I have never complained about accommodation before. I do not want this to be published as I think all of these recommendations can be fixed. I wonder will we hear anything back from anyone or do you just want the guests money and don’t really care about them.

I would like to respond to some of your comments: 1. You are the first person to complain about the sharpness of the knives but we do appreciate that it was your experience and we will add sharper knives to our collection. 2. You are correct in that we need hanging space for coats etc. and we will rectify that. 3. Your comments about duvet covers are a little harsh and in fact the covers were poly cotton and were chosen to co-ordinate with the room's decor. and the linen in the other rooms were cotton. 4. Our aim is always to have spotless and clean linen and we can only apologise if you found any stain. 5. We will make a complaint on your behalf to our cleaning lady with regards to any hairs found in the showers as usually her standard of cleaning is very high. 6. Your last comments are very unfair and you should know it is very important to us that our guests enjoy their stay and we value your comments as it will help us to improve our service and its not just all about money for us as we are constantly investing in the property to maintain a high standard. • "The house was lovely."

A lot of things were thoughtfully provided and made it a real home from home. Having a dog means the options are reduced so we were delighted to find this house close to Clifden. There was a smell coming from the en suite and Pat had someone out within hours of me informing him which was really good. The one thing I would suggest is that the towels and bed linen are updated. Both are multicoloured and a bit worn. Maybe the sheets could be all white for example. I know someone else has previously made a comment about tidying up the approach. I would tend to agree that if the outside was tidied up, it would maken a fantastic first impression. That being said, I would certainly rebook Rainbows End again in the future.

I am happy your enjoyed your stay and thank you for the positive feedback. We are currently updating our linen and towels and we will keep in mind what you said about the surrounding space and gardens around the house. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is well positioned on a hill and surrounded by Connemara beauty and the lovely smell of turf."

The layout of Rainbow's End is lovely with ample space for our family of 5 and black Labrador. The range of dvds and books etc was also a lovely bonus to relax with, on the recliners in the living room, turf fire lit. Outdoors, there is a good patio to enjoy a coffee and the sunsets. There is a range of condiments available and plenty of toiletries which we appreciated. Close to Clifden itself with the Lidl and Aldi enroute. A few more hooks on which to hang coats, bags and better water pressure would allow me to give happy 5 stars. That said, our 16 year old did not want to leave! Thanks to Pat.

Thank you for you very positive response and I am happy you enjoyed your stay. Point taken about the hooks to hang coats etc. and we will be sure to correct that Water pressure is usually excellent but maybe because of the hot weather is was a bit less. Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay and would definitely recommend."

Everything was very clean and we we were well accommodated for. We are planning to book again and bring friends and family and have recommended the cottage to them, Cottage is close enough to do a day trip to the city centre and is close to all the scenic parts of Gallway. Only took us 50 minutes drive to get to the ferry for the islands. Very close to the Connemara national park and quite a few visitor attractions on the road from Clifden to Galway. We didn't want to leave and the cottage defiantly felt like home while we were away!

Thank you for your very positive response and I am very happy you enjoyed your stay at Rainbow's End. Property Owner
