  • "We had a fantastic stay couldn’t have asked for better."

House was clean and cosy. Really close to the pebbled beach. View was unbelievable. We will definitely be back.

  • "Perfect for our needs with our dog Charlie."

Comfortable, clean, homely and everything you would need. 0.5 miles from a beautiful beach. Surrounded by fantastic scenery. We had a fabulous holiday.

  • "While the property is slightly dated in terms of furniture, sofas, it was quite comfortable but the small bedroom upstairs had no lights working and no blind in the skylight."

We also could not figure out how to use the dishwasher and no instructions could be found anywhere. We enjoyed our stay in the cottage with beautiful scenery all around and only a 10mins walk to the local beech with fab views of Croagh Patrick. Also being 7kms outside the town of Louisburg didn't really matter or affect us.

  • "This cottage is in a beautiful place, very peaceful and lovely views with only 5 mins walk to a beautiful beach!"

On arrival the outside of the cottage is very run down and unwelcoming with two rusted old chairs in the garden, the garden in my opinion is not safe for children, and very disceiving from the photos! It's quite small and the wall on one side is broken, the siting room was quite cosy, the kitchen and down stairs bathroom was fine, the beds were not properly made with worn sheets in one of the bedrooms. Up stairs is very old and lockers broken and dirty, the stair are too steep for young children, I would not return to this property again.

  • "The cottage is in a beautiful location, only a few minutes walk from the stunning Carrowniskey beach."

The property was easy to find, on a very quiet lane, with the only traffic being surfers or the local farmers. The cottage is fairly basic, but offers excellent value for such a picturesque location. The beds are very comfortable, which was a big plus, with warm duvets. The view from the garden was amazing, watching the sun set on a clear evening. The whole family enjoyed our week there, and would happily return. Evelyn was on hand if we required anything.

  • "The cottage was lovely, the views were also very satisfying."

The property was well furnished and had all the conveniences, but its biggest draw was the location, absolutely perfect if you want to get away from it all, with your very own beach a short stroll down the road. We mainly dined out but had breakfast in the property every day, when we cooked an evening meal the kitchen was easy to use with all the things you need. Peaceful and relaxing and not very far away, a little slice of heaven. As it says on the way in to Louisburgh, welcome to God's pocket.

Long sandy beach is 5 minutes walk away. Nearest shops are 8 minutes drive away in Louisburg.

  • "The description for this cottage is limited and misleading - if alternative accommodation was available we would have left on the first day - the cottage is some 7 kilometres from Louisburgh on the carrowinsky strand road which is clearly signposted- the colour has changed - the entrance has a paint spillage, looks grubby with a torn and damaged welcome mat."

The inside of the cottage is not clean - the dirt is visible as you step inside - it has embedded animal hair in the lounge carpet and goodness knows what else. The electrics tripped twice during the week - the fuse box has a chair leg and a wire hanger adjacent to reset the switches!! -the problem is not new - the fridge was showing signs of rust and did not chill food - the dishwasher filter had not been cleaned - there was no splash back on the cooker with unsightly marks on the wall - the kitchen draws had crumbs in them and cutlery was not clean - the ground floor toilet door had a dead lock fitted and not a proper toilet lock which can be opened from outside in an emergency - the shower unit had the stop/start pad missing - the toilet sink taps showed green mould - the cottage was damp and smelt musty - there was a 2’’ step to the lounge which was not identified by hazard tape - the immersion heater was not insulated - furniture/beds were placed in front of radiators -the stair case was extremely steep, there was a heavy wooden safety board at the top which had to be put in place - at risk -but no safety board at the bottom to prevent access?! -the upstairs toilet was carpeted? and marked - at the rear of the cottage is an unidentified trench some 8’ long x 4’ wide and 5’deep which is not fenced off or a warning sign in place -the footpath around the cottage has a concrete manhole cover with an arched handle some 3’’ high which is a serious trip hazard, it is not highlighted or easily seen. The standard of maintenance and cleanliness of this cottage undermines all the good responsible owners who maintain and clean their properties and gives a very negative experience - it undermines their credibility - it spoilt our holiday and was not of the standard expected for the price paid - yet it is still being advertised.

  • "The bedding felt damp on the first night, we put the childrens bedding on the radiators to air."

There were grease marks under a chopping board in the kitchen, some of the cookware and delph wasn't clean. The location was fine but the map position of the property on the website was wrong. The downstairs shower was fine but the toilet seat was loose and kept slipping. The upstairs toilet was vey cramped and one could hit their head on the beams inside and outside. There was no lagging jacket on the hot water cylinder so the water cooled quickly. Around the back there was a trench leading to a basement which was not railed off and one could easily fall into it in the dark.

  • "Ocean View is in a fantastic location for Carrowniskey beach, good for walks and surfing."

The internet connnection was easily good enough for watching netflix alongside web browsing - we did have an issue with the service provider during our stay and a massive thanks to Evelyn, one of the owners who lives next door who got this resolved in a timely manner and kept us up to date with the progress. The beds were the most comfortable we have had on any of our rentals in the area, no sore backs from the stay. Be sure to bring all of the basics on your arrival, salt, pepper, soaps etc.

Holiday cottage not named and a different colour to the photos on site so hard to find. Some of the electric sockets were in poor condition and general maintenance poor. Broken glass left on top of microwave .

The house has been that color for the last 5 years. I had checked that house before your arrival and i did not see any broken glass on top of the microwave . I carry my phone with me at all times and if somebody does contact me i return a call right away and did not not receive any calls from you . i hope you had the correct number. Property Owner

  • "The property was too close to nearby house and didn't provide any privacy."

The "owners" came around the house on two separate occasions during our short stay, one time they decided to cut the grass at 7 in the evening, loud noise and streaming around our car when we came for peace and tranquility, the second time I got a phone call from the owner at 8 in the morning asking us to take our recycling bin out ( on the second day of our stay), intrusive. House was clean except the windows, nothing was provided, basic things like tea, coffee, sugar and salt, cooking oil missing. Only two toilet rolls provided for the whole stay. The owners need to make more effort with their service as all this doesn't make you feel welcome and at home. We loved the area, ocean was incredible, definitely will be back to Mayo, but not to this house.

The location is so peaceful. County Mayo is stunning. However, the house is tired and not very clean. Make sure you take all the essentials with you because nothing is provided. We would most definitely return to Mayo but not to Ocean View.

  • "In general, it should maybe advertised as a bunk house type of accommodation."

it does need some updating as it is a damp and nearly neglected property. It is relatively inexpensive, given the number of beds, but the facilities are limited for that number, e.g. one shower. With some re-decoration and updating it would be significantly better. The dog poo in the garden and broken outdoor furniture aren't great welcoming points. The windows won't clean and so maybe need professional work as the point of the property is access to, and views of, the sea, somewhat marred by streaky windows. So, maybe be a bit more careful about the advertising, otherwise we did enjoy our stay after the initial - oh - who booked this - sort of conversation.
