  • "Truly idyllic, set in beautiful countryside, on a working farm, The Granary is fully appointed, comfortable and quiet."

The owner is very welcoming and unobtrusive, though available if needed.

  • "We all had a very enjoyable holiday in this peaceful and rural location beside the lovely river Bride."

The Booley House in Ballyduff was up to its usual high standards for Irish music and dance. Had some lovely meals in the Latch restaurant in Tallow and the Italian restaurant on the sea front in Dungarvan, the seafood platter was absolutely fabulous. The Granary owner Willie was very friendly, helpful and customer orientated.

  • "We arrived and were shortly after welcomed by the owner."

We had chosen this property as described as dog friendly with garden. We were told by the owner that the garden was for the property next door and the occupants of which would be leaving on the Saturday, but we could use it. I enquired if there were any walks across the farm land and the owner advised us of one, which turned out to be inaccessible for my dog as stile gap too short for him to get through. The cottage was very dirty, surfaces only wiped, mould and dirt in shower tray and on tiles, dirty furniture and accessories ie lamp shades, spray marks on ceiling, dirty radiators, I have taken photos which I am happy to share with Sykes. The property is not as per description, no exclusive garden or TVs in bedrooms. I paid almost £1100 for 8 days, this property falls far below what I would expect. The owner requested we turn off central heating when not in the property, which we agreed to. The next day he entered the cottage whilst I was in it alone unannounced, saying he had seen the heating had been left on and thought we were out, my husband and dog were out, so car not in parking space. As you can imagine I was very surprised at his entry but felt unable to challenge. This behaviour is completely unacceptable, only in a risk situation would I expect an owner to enter their property, certainly not to turn the heating off. I could have been asleep, showering etc and all our personal possessions were insitu, I am very unhappy about this. This was my first and last experience of booking with Sykes.

The cottage is beautifully situated but a little tired . No tvs in bedrooms ( as specified in details ) , a sofa that is collapsed ( previously commented on by others ) , the bathroom sink is coming off the wall , one single mattress needs replacing as the springs can be felt , the windows need cleaning and the cottage is generally tired.

The owner is a delightfully friendly and amenable man. He made our stay very easy and relaxing. Could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The property was as described and the view was perfect. Watching the spring lambs was a bonus, eventhough it is a working farm there was no noise, apart from the odd sheep or cow. Thank you and will definately try and visit again.

Shower needs urgent attention as it produces scalding hot water if turned off then on again within a few minutes. Fridge needs defrosting and 2 of the shelves in the fridge door are missing. It is down a long twisting lane well off the road so very safe for a dog. There are sheep, cattle and a donkey in the field in front. You could just chill out in front of the open log/coal fire or visit nearby historic Lismore with it’s Castle which is owned by the Duke of Devonshire. The extensive gardens are open to the public. Take a drive through the nearby mountains or travel a little further to the coast with it’s beaches and copper coast cliffs.
