The Sustonica certification focuses on four key areas: energy conservation, water conservation,
waste reduction and promoting inclusiveness. They are on a mission to become the most widely
recognised sustainability standard for holiday rentals and a catalyst to reduce emissions of holiday
lets and influence guests to reduce their own household consumption too.
Properties that display the Sustonica badge have successfully passed the criteria,
which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards,
and their owner has made a commitment to look after our planet as well as you.

It was in a lovely quiet spot in very nice grounds. It was a cosy place to come back to after trips out. I would recommend it and am missing being there.

"The quilt was a 13tog which was far too hot, and uncomfortable."
On entry the property smelled very strongly of a musty smell, which remained even after airing the property.
There were lots of moths.
The parking became very fraught as my husband had mobility issues.

"A very comfortable and clean little cottage for two people."
We used this cottage as a lovely base to explore Charmouth and Lyme Regis area. After a day of exploring it was very nice to come back to the cottage and prepare a meal in the well equipped kitchen. There was also space to park the car almost in front of the house, which was very convenient. I would definitely recommend the cottage to other visitors of the area.

"Everything inside was very good."
Our only problem was the fact that we were in the midst of a lot of housing which wasn’t apparent from the pictures shown on the website. Some people came straight past our window and were looking in.
It would be good to have a designated green waste facility. We took our green waste with us when we left.
A sink strainer would be useful to prevent unwanted debris being washed down the plug hole.
Thank you for your feedback. I agree with you that the information doesn't give any indication that the bungalow is on a holiday home site. I have asked that the letting agency put this right.
I'm sorry that you had people looking in the windows. We have stayed there many times, and we have regulars who have not mentioned this. It is very likely that because the laundry room is just past our bungalow people are glancing towards us when they are looking for the laundry room.
We do the garden ourselves when we are able to get there. We put green waste on a huge composting pile along with the leaves that fall in the autumn..
There is a bin for recyclable waste at the top of the Fernhill estate.
I hope you were able to to enjoy your holiday despite these few niggles.

"A very comfortable and well appointed property in a very quiet and pleasant site although there are quite a few properties there."
Surrounded by woodland there are footpaths around the area but beware if taking your dog as there are warnings of ticks.
Handy for the village of Charmouth with 2 nice pubs and a lovely fish and chip shop.

"The property was clean well equipped no problems there nor with Charmouth ,the beautiful location of Accommodation has one very big drawback as a Dog owner ."
.. there area of Fernill Heights is infested with Ticks !!!, our dog is now on a expensive course of treatment .
I am very sorry you had trouble from ticks. It is not a problem just at Fernhill Heights. You will see warnings on many entrances to wooded areas in country locations about taking precautions.
My daughter frequently stays in the bungalow with her own dog.so we are aware of the ticks. For that reason, among the items stored at number 39 Fernhill you may have found a tick removal tool.
I hope your pet has recovered and your experience has not put you off staying in the West Dorset area again. Even if not at Fernhill Heights.

"I had another lovely stay at 39 Fernhill Heights."
The property is very comfortable and welcoming. Great location for exploring the Jurassic coast, West Dorset and East Devon.
There is a good selection of books, games and DVDs, and everything that I needed in the way of kitchenware, even a dog bowl! Everything was clean and tidy, with nice touches such as the beach-hut print curtains and cushions. I felt very at home.
I love being able to watch the birds from the kitchen window and walk down to the lake where I saw a kingfisher. We enjoyed having breakfast out on the sunny patio in the mornings.
There are lots of lovely walks from the bungalow. We enjoyed walking down into the village and on to Charmouth beach.
We always pleased to hear that our return guests had another enjoyable stay. We hope to see you again in the future.

"Very comfortable bungalow to stop in."
Quiet area around the bungalow and the stay was very relaxing.
My wife has even commented about the bed being one of the most comfortable she has slept in whilst being on holiday.
