The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday and the owner and family are so friendly and helpful. We could have stayed forever!

Even managed some swimming. Shame about the weather, but still a wonderful holiday home from home. Very friendly welcome, with selection of tea and coffee left for us. Anyone wanting a Devon holiday, this is the one !

  • "We have stayed in the Cider house on many occasions and have always loved it."

Its a spacious cottage for two (or two plus a little one as we are now). Our son loved going to see the ducks, sheep and geese. The new sofa was good too. Sadly it will be our last time for a while as we now need a cottage with a bed for the boy, but one day we hope to come back!

  • "A beautiful property in a great location."

Kim and family couldn't have been more helpful. The very large bed is extremely comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. We had several BBQs in the communal garden next to the pool and really enjoyed being within the working farm environment. Thank you Kim for a great stay.

  • "Everything was better than expected and we really enjoyed our stay."

Plenty of space in living area, bedroom and bathroom and plenty of storage. The only drawback was the instructions for the hob and oven. It was very confusing. I believe for the unit to work the clock needs to be set to the correct time first before you can operate it properly. It wasn't. The hob was most difficult to use. This is true of many holiday properties. But we really enjoyed our stay on the farm !

  • "As soon as we had walked into the Cider house, we felt a pleasant calmness, and indeed it was extremely comfortable, with a rustic charm."

The kitchen was really well equipped, the bedroom was brilliant, with lots of storage space & lovely old beams, with a gigantic sized bed. The toilet, bath & shower were clean, with plenty shelves for all your nick-nacks. The only drawback from our stay, was the Wi-fi being quite slow & playback on Freeview very difficult to watch.

  • "The cottage was beautifully appointed, well equipped, and conveniently located for a supermarket, and to the town centre."

Also very spacious, with a great history. If there was one small thing I could add, is that the wifi was very weak, so we couldn’t use Netflix or any catch up tv. I’m not sure if wifi was listed with all the many amenities, but it did a have a smart tv. However luckily we used our i pad and own data to watch some of the programmes we wanted, and watched a couple of dvd’s provided. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this cottage. Though we didn’t see Kim, I would like to say thank you. Carol

Stairs leading to bedroom coul do with another hand rail no hand rails on bath as such we could not use also shower very high for disabled people also no first aid kit otherwise very good

Thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry you could not find the first aid kit and didn't speak to us about this as we would have been happy to help. Unfortunately we cannot and do not advertise the cottage as suitable for disabled guests as it is a converted cider barn and heavy horse stable on two levels and the stairway between the two is too narrow for two handrails. I hope this and the shower tray height which is installed to ensure adeqate drainage flow did not spoil your holiday. Sykes have numerous cottages specifically advertised for disabled guests and I am sure they could find something more suitable for you another time. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely perfect and exactly what I was looking for."

I stayed at the Cider House for a week on my own, a bit of a solo retreat as I wanted somewhere peaceful I could just relax and swim. The cottage itself is gorgeous, so cosy and full of quirks, also incredibly spacious with everything you could need/want in the kitchen. The bed and bedding were some of the comfiest I’ve ever slept on :) Having access to the pool was dreamy - it’s shared with the other cottage residents but generally had it to myself when I wanted to swim (several times a day) and was wonderful to be able swim with farm animals all around! Location was great too - felt very rural and peaceful but literally 3-4 minutes from a big Tesco and only a few mins more to the town of Bideford and also a great location for exploring Devon, and has the gigantic beach at Westward Ho! under 10 mins drive away. Family fun farm and everybody was so friendly and helpful, quick to respond etc. All in all 10/10!

  • "Hi all, We just wanted to say what a fantastic week we had staying with you, we left early doors this morning, we would have liked to thanked you face to face, but nobody was available, I should imagine you were all exhausted after the previous day’s work."

The experience was amazing, the facilities were fantastic. It was lovely to chat with you regarding the the sheep shearing. The cottage is absolutely beautiful with lots of interesting history. You were all so welcoming, I know you run this as a business venture, but honestly, it didn’t seem like it, even when you were all so busy with the the day to day workload on the farm, and I know, as a youngster, I worked on farms, everyone still had time for a friendly chat with your guests. Thanks to all. John and Jac Ellis

  • "Great location for exploring North Devon."

Appledore & Instow we're our particular favourites. First holiday for our 8 month old cocker spaniel & she was welcomed. Only grip was that we couldn't walk her in the fields on a lead. Which I don't think was clear on the listing. However, there was a shared garden area where she could go & found a local footpath towards Eastleigh about half a mile from farm were she could have a run early in the day. We were blessed with fabulous weather & made use of the heated outdoor pool. Great views & friendly hosts. Would like to return one day.

Thankyou for taking the time to give us feedback. I am glad you had a lovely holiday and hope you can visit us again with your gorgeous little dog. I am very pleased you found somewhere else to take her for a walk closeby in addition to our picnic area and lane as unfortunately although humans are very welcome to walk around the farmland itself, for a variety of reasons linked to the health and safety of the many sheep and lambs on site we cannot extend this permission to dogs although we are exploring the feasibility of putting in a secure dog exercise field at some time in the future. Friendly but unobtrusive owners who just left us to a quiet peaceful break which was brilliant. No garden BUT surrounded by fields, footpaths and lanes ( 6 cars a day is busy!!) so plenty of walking from door. We left car at cottage and walked into Bideford, Instow(great beach for dog) and lovely pub at Westerley. Many thanks for treats left for us (and dog!) on arrival and milk in fridge was a real bonus so thank you. Would recommend Cider House and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
