• "A lovely barn conversion, only 5 minutes from the A30, so it’s a great location to explore all parts of Devon and into Cornwall."

  The barn has everything you will need, is comfy and is the place to be if you need to unwind. At night there are no street lights, no light pollution and no traffic…total bliss. Mandy and Nick are great hosts, nothing is too much effort and they are always available should you need any help or assistance. All in all a great stay……thank you

• "Wow, what a fantastic property."

  The pictures on Sykes website do not do it justice. Very clean, very well equipped and the design of the property works really well. Very nice owners who live behind the property who are very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. It was a lengthy journey for us, 5 hrs plus, but if we decide to come back to this part of Devon again we wouldn’t hesitate in booking Brightley Mill Barn, can’t fault it in any way.

  The property was well equipped and all was clearly explained. Location was good and the road was quiet. We had no problem with disturbance or noise from the adjacent business and parking was good and easy. The upside down design of the barn worked well and we would generally recommend it as a place to stay with no major problems and a helpful and friendly but unintrusive host

  The barn was spotlessly clean, well provisioned and very comfortable. The bathroom was a highlight of our stay as was the large and airy living space, filled with lovely tulips for our Spring stay. Great thought has gone into the conversion and it is tastefully decorated and warm throughout.The kitchen has quality equipment and the fridge, though small did have a freezer section in it which was very adequate for our needs.The parking was large and easy. The grounds leading to the weir are superb and the seating area outside is perfect.The owners are charming and made us feel very welcome. All in all this cottage is a winner!

  It was spotlessly clean and finished to a really high standard. It was warm, comfortable and contained everything that we needed. There were a couple of extra bonuses, fresh eggs, milk and freshly cut flowers. The owners were attentive but not intrusive. The location was also very convenient. Finally, the private walk down to the ruined mill was the cherry on the cake! We would definitely return again.

  The cottage was in the perfect place to do stuff all over devon and even venture into cornwall. The couple who own the property are super lovely and were super supportive if we needed anything, also tbe barn was stocked with laundry powder and dishwasher tablets and all the essentials you could need was super good. 100% luxury stay in a lovely house.

  I travel around the UK and the rest of the World extensively for work and leisure and I can honestly say this is one of the best places I have stayed. For a family holiday it was perfect. Key collection is really convenient via a key safe system that the owners tell you the combination for on the day. There is parking 2 meters from the front door so really convenient for getting all that food shopping into the property (there is a Waitrose, Coop and Lidl all nearby). The barn conversion is brilliant - very well appointed to a high standard and we immediately felt comfortable, relaxed and at home. The cleanliness of the Barn on our arrival was simply impeccable. I am very fussy about these things and it felt like we were the first to stay. There is underfloor heating throughout and a woodburner in the living room. The kitchen is really well fitted with oven, hob, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. Granite work surfaces and a large butler sink - couldn't ask for more. The main living space has very comfortable clean furniture and a large flatscreen TV. The bathroom has a large roll top bath and large walk-in shower/wet room. Bedrooms are really comfortable. I can't recommend this property enough, my family and I will definitely be returning. It was a chance discovery by us, booked last minute and what a find.

• "When I booked I informed the gentleman that I would like to book for the Friday arrival for one week but may not be able to arrive until the Sunday which would reduce my stay to five nights."

  There was no change to the price so financially no loss for Sykes or the property owner but out of courtesy could he check with the owner that this was ok. I was placed on hold for a while, the operator came back and confirmed this was fine. However when I spoke to the property owner she had not been made aware that we may only stay for five nights from the Sunday so I was disappointed with this.

  Just outside Okehampton, so near to amenities. Plenty to do in the area or just chill around the barn and its surrounding land. Everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage. The property owners are really lovely and helpful. The barn is very homely and is furnished fabulously. The milk and biscuits were much appreciated on arrival ready for a much needed coffee. Will definately return in the future.

• "Fantastic little cottage, the decor was neutral and modern, the level of finish was very high and the bathroom was wonderful."

  Being of an ‘upside’ down arrangement made the bedrooms much cooler, which was lovely in the middle of a heat wave. The garden was brilliant for our son, who played football in the field, played on the rope swing and waded through the river, which he loved doing. Although. the owners were away on holiday themselves, Mandy text several times to make sure everything was okay. Overall a fantastic relaxing break.

  As such it was designed from the start to be a holiday let. This shows in the quality and layout of the barn, I couldn't fault it.Well done to owners and builder...... My wife and I both agree its the best holiday stay we've had. Owners were very approachable and are there to assist if needed. Ask them about the small walk at back of property along river. Barn was very conveniently placed for walks on Dartmoor. We did a lot of walking and didn't have travel more than 45 mins to furthest side of Dartmoor itself. We will definitely be going back.....

  The site is perfect for its tranquility and ideal for us as we cycled the Coast to Coast route, in sections, and wanted a central base halfway along the route. The owners provided us with secure storage for our bikes and even provided early learning books/toys for our baby granddaughter who visited for a few days. My wife and I are seasoned travellers and can honestly say this was one of the best rentals we have ever made. Congratulations to the owners for getting everything spot on.
