  • "The property is in an excellent location, but back from the main road so that you cannot hear any traffic noise."

Bars, restaurants, shops , museums, and the beach are all close at hand and parking is off road just behind the property. We have not stayed in Lyme Regis (or visited) before and it way exceeded our expectations. Everyone we met was so helpful and friendly we were blown away. The property is well maintained and quirky with excellent facilities. The welcome pack was a very pleasant surprise and much appreciated. We couldn't visit without fossil hunting on the beach and had some finds. The fossil shops and museums were excellent and very interesting. All in all an excellent choice. A couple of minor maintenance issues, the outside light on the end of the sitting room wasn't working and thus the lighting of the outside stairs was poor, and the windows in the downstairs double bedroom/bathroom had swollen and couldn't be opened , so there was a lot of condensation in the mornings.

  • "We asked some questions before we came down, 1) are there more keys, you said no; there were 3 provided!"

    2) asked if there was a rubber bath mat, you said bring your own; there were 2 there! 3) asked if, as there was a small toddler with us, to check in early if at all possible; you were not going to ask or check. Clearly you did not know the details of the property that well! It’s a lovely cottage and we enjoyed our stay. Only comment it says “step outside into the courtyard” and the picture and description seems to indicate it is just outside which we wanted for the toddler. This was not the case the door was not useable from the lounge and the private space was not that near. Think this property perhaps not aimed at children. FYI, there is a leak in the top bathroom back of the sink. Beds were comfortable and we did enjoy our stay overall. Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We apologise that there was some confusion for you before your check in but hope to welcome you back to Dorset another time. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "The property was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed apart from a dryer."

I am disabled and booked based on your description, this was inaccurate. The property was hard to find and accessabiity was around zero. There was scaffolding in the front acces so wheelchair/ mobile scooter ( or even a pushchair could not pass through and it was difficult to walk through. There was no patio are only a step outside! as described. You had to walk some distance away from the property down steps and then up steps again to access the property from the back or go to the the fenced in, small paved area adjacent to the parking lot with a patio bench set with a washing line above, allocated to the property. The door and seating shown were there but the door was locked with no way to open so certainly not a step outside as described and in no way private. There was rubbish from workmen strewn accross the the small passage access to the only openable door making it a massive trip hazard for me. The bin could not be put out as requested because of the scaffolding and rubbish/ builders equipment in the way so my husband took it by the back a access a very long and difficult way around to the front. Some of the rubbish consisted of sky dishes, aerials and builders equipment so may account for the very poor tv and wifi signal we had at the property all week. We only had one key ( difficult to manage for 3 couples so we had 2 more cut and advised company to give all 3 to their next guests) By the way when we arrived at the property we could not find it as there is no sign or number on the front alley gate .A very kind local had to take us to the property via the back we would never have located it on our own a simple number or name on the alley gate and sign at the back would be helpful.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you had some trouble during your stay. While we appreciate your points, we do feel that the property is marketed appropriately and states that the enclosed patio is next to the parking area whilst additional seating is located outside the property. We can only apologise for the scaffolding and the inconvenience caused, it seems a neighbouring property was having some work undertaken. This is now completed. The Lyme Bay Team. Property Owner

  • "A fabulous cottage with everything you need and just a two minute walk to the beach front."

We had a wonderful stay at Tudor Cottage. A cosy and welcoming house with comfortable beds, all with en-suite bathrooms. Kitchen is very well equipped and clean. Added bonus is having two parking spaces which is hard to find in Lyme Regis. It’s a shame the enclosed garden is not directly connected to the house, but if you know Lyme then you know any garden access is hard to come by. Overall we loved our stay here and will definitely be back.

  • "The property is very well located and gave the impression of being clean, well maintained and equipped, making the most of its central location despite the obvious limitations of internal and external layout in a property this of age and type closely surrounded by others."

There are some nice homely touches. A generous welcome pack was provided. The beds were comfortable and the plumbing and heating worked well. Key arrangements are inconvenient, and probably unmanageable for guests travelling by public transport (as in the case of one member of our party). When we arrived there was a strong unpleasant smell in the passage to the outside of the property and the yard area at the back. This smelt like “drains” masked by bleach/disinfectant. It gradually faded during the week. There was a handwritten note on the hot water tap in the twin bedroom ensuite on arrival advising that the tap was broken and should not be touched – the plumber had been called. This was not fixed during the week. Parking for the property is very awkward. Two parking spaces are advertised and indeed provided but it should be made more explicit that these are suitable only for small cars and how difficult it can be to manoeuvre in and out of the car parking area. Others guests and residents using the area may have large cars and may not park considerately. No fire risk assessment was provided so it is was not clear how the property conforms to the latest regulations (Oct 23). In particular we had concerns about exit from the attic room in case of fire.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the location of the property, being just 200m from the sea is just wonderful. The tap issue has now been resolved but thank you for bringing it to our attention. Lyme is known for its limited parking options so to have two spaces in the centre of town is unheard of. The property's Fire Risk Assessment is in date until next year. The Lyme Bay Team. Property Owner

  • "We love Lyme and have holidayed many times."

This is a perfectly located cottage and having parking is beyond a bonus in Lyme. We were on the high street in less than a minute and the beach is so close. It was very clean apart from the oven and oven trays, luckily I'd bought my own as this is often an overlooked area. I'd seen the reviews about the lounge but we were 2 couples meeting up and we don't watch TV. However we could have done with some jiggling around. We loved it and my reason for 4 stars on comfort is how incredibly cold it was at night particularly the bedroom we were in and the mattress was so soft that we disappeared into it!

We are glad you like the cottage & enjoyed your stay. However, there is no need to be cold at night, as the central heating has 2 thermostatic control zones which guests can control manually & all radiators are fitted with adjustable TRVs. The memory foam mattress topper on the King Sized bed on the top floor, aims to add height & comfort to the firm mattress. Thank you for leaving feedback. Property Owner

  • "We booked as it as sleeps 6 with 3 bathrooms, which it does."

King room needs a shower or at least an attachment that is not split ( did report). Lounge furniture is the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on. The chairs are musty as well as uncomfortable, the sofa is clearly a sofa bed & as soon as you sit on it, it all slips forward. There is only seating for 5 although the sixth can sit on a dining room chair, which quite frankly is more comfortable. If you all want to watch Tv, because of the position you can’t all see. Would be better swapping sofa & tv position over ( would only need to run Ariel around skirting board). Kitchen is good, but kitchen utensils are cheap plastic and bend as soon as you use them. You need some extra knives & forks otherwise you are forever washing up to feed 6. You provide a washing machine but no airier. Position to town / beach is fabulous. However for a winter holiday you are wanting to be in the house for some or part of the evening & the comfort of the lounge lets it down.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed Lyme and how close the property is to the beach. We appreciate you raising the issue with the shower hose, this has now been replaced. The airer, it is kept in the tall hall cupboard. We are sorry to hear that you felt the living room was uncomfortable. The property regularly receives reviews stating how comfortable it is but we appreciate that it is a personal taste. We hope to welcome you back to Dorset soon. Property Owner

We have stayed a few times in this cottage and will definitely be back. The cottage is so clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. I love the fact I can just cross the road to walk along the promenade with my dog. Also we can park the car in the parking space and not use it again and faff with parking in Lyme which is expensive and busy.

Tudor Cottage is centrally situated and having two parking spaces is fantastic in Lyme Regis. The cottage is well-equipped and is very quirky, the sloping floors in the bedrooms are memorable!

It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We do try to be up front and honest with guests if we are aware of an issue that could impact on their stay, and make every effort to avoid such issues being of inconvenience. • "This was our second stay at Tudor Cottage."

We like the house and its position in Lyme Regis. The cottage is comfortable and when there was a problem it was responded to immediately. However there are a few things that we think would really improve the cottage and the comfort of people staying there : 1. The top floor bathroom would be greatly improved with a shower attachment fitted to the taps in the bath . this would improve body washing and rinsing and more importantly allow for hair washing. .2. the bathroom in the twin room would be greatly improved with a hand held shower attachment fitted (rain showers are not good for everybody) 3. the seats and access to them from the door in the lounge - the seats are old and tatty and not comfortable - they are outside the door in the lounge but this door is permanently locked. It would be nice to access them from the lounge. Not as critical as the bathroom issues but a nice to have. This is not necessarily for publication, more for action please. Thank you

Thank you for your helpful comments. We are glad you like Tudor Cottage & have returned for a second stay. The outdoor seats have been fully redecorated since your visit & you are welcome to use the 2 outdoor cushions, which are available in the tall hall cupboard, when sitting outside. (Please return them at the end of the day, to avoid rain & seagull mess. Thanks.) The twin room shower has been replaced and includes a hand help shower spray. There is now a shower spray attachment in the top floor bathroom. Property Owner

Really enjoyed our stay once again, thank you. I noticed that most of the interior walls have been repainted during the Winter which has freshened the place up. Only recommendation is that we are provided with a second set of keys (we had two last time) and a better quality of binbags - they pretty much all split(!) Thanks again - we look forward to coming back.

It's great to hear that you love the cottage and are planning to return for another holiday in June. Unfortunately it is starting to feel a bit tired. The first bed in bedroom one is the main concern. We found it so uncomfortable. To the extent that it badly affected our sleep. This is a shame. because otherwise the cottage is in our opinion ideally located to enjoy Lyme Regis.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you found the mattress in bedroom 1 uncomfortable. It is always helpful to receive feedback so standards of comfort are maintained & improved. Perhaps also slight ventilation as in a window fan as they do get rather misted up and could cause dampness.

  • "The cottage is quaint and plenty of space."

The cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The carpets were so dirty the odour especially on the stairs was really offensive. The smell from the dishwasher when opened was due to a clean wash being needed. No salt therein. The compartment in the washing machine was completely full of mould. But the worse aspect was the sofa, when the cushions were removed the old food and hair shows this cottage only gets a wipe over and not a thorough cleaning inbetween guests. The microwave which we needed to steriliser baby bottles blew the fuses. A replacement was needed and a much older version was delivered. We loved Lyme Regis and the closeness to all the amenities made up for the cleaning we had to do to make the cottage more acceptable.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of these issues but I can confirm that the cleaning problems have now been resolved by the Housekeeping Manager. The dishwasher has had the salt topped up. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know and are happy to hear that you loved Lyme. Property Owner

The house was cosy, comfortable, and perfect for a family holiday. The location was also pretty ideal since it’s tucked behind the high street, a stones throw away from the beach. Also, this might be more subjective, but I thought the bedding very comfortable as I slept really well while I was there. Finally, I realise it’s just a small thing, but I really appreciated that there was plenty of well-thought-out closet space in the bedrooms, since it’s such a pain when you can’t unpack properly! (Oh, and it was good that the cottage had its own parking spaces, because I got the impression that Lyme isn’t the easiest place to park in otherwise.)

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are so glad you enjoyed your time at Tudor Cottage. Property Owner
