  • "Throughly enjoyed our stay at Valley View Farm Annexe."

Lovely & warm friendly welcome from Jill, the owner & she even helped us with our bags!!! Such a lovely lady & nothing is too much trouble. Lovely welcome goodies & pint of milk to make a drink, so thoughtful. The Annexe is just perfect & very cosy & bigger than you think for two people. Looking forward to visiting again in May. Thank you again Jill. Tracey & Tony x

  • "Jill was a wonderful friendly host; she took time to explain the cottage facilities, grounds and local area, and provided a welcoming tasty local food basket."

The Annex was clean and well equiped ; it is situated in beautiful countryside next to a dairy farm so there is the novelty of watching the cows walk by for milking. The Annex is a pleasant walk downhill into Lyme Regis and there is an hourly daytime bus service from Lyme Regis to Uplyme, but remember the uphill walk back to The Annex! We had great fun feeding the pet sheep! The Lyme Regis Museum fossils talk and fossil hunt on the beach is recommended.

). We enjoyed the secluded spot and the welcoming atmosphere. It was great to be able to walk into Lyme Regis (having parked the car in Uplyme to avoid steep lane!). It will be our choice again if staying around Lyme Regis.

Couldn't ask for a nicer host, Jill was very welcoming and provided a lovely arrival pack, which I begrudgingly shared with my husband, did only let him have one of the delicious biscuits. Would definitely recommend

Very kind of owner to leave some essentials like milk and eggs, and some little luxuries. The annexe is compact, comfortable and convenient for touring the area. The owner was very responsive when I couldn’t work things out. Although only a short walk down the farm track to the village, it felt very peaceful. Looking forward to staying another time when the weather is better.

  • "Two words. Excellent (the property."

) Exceptional (the owner.) Our car battery went flat in Lyme Regis, the owner offered to come and get us but the RAC got us going again. When we arrived at the property the owner put the battery on charge over night, I didn’t have to ask. The property itself is high quality, everything we required was catered for.

The property was spotlessly clean, with all "mod-cons". The welcome pack of "goodies" was very nice, and the helpful advice of owner Jill on our arrival was very useful. We enjoyed our stay very much, and would recommend this property as the perfect countryside retreat, with Lyme Regis just down the road, and super pub food in Uplyme village, just a walk away! • "Ot as expected lots of unexpected stuff."

No cooker only a microwave that was also a oven not good unable to cook more that 1item this was a problem as 1veggie and 1meal eater. Only 2 ring hob so same problem. It was very musty/fusty/damp smelling. I know it’s on a farm but no mention of a1 vehicle wide track and how actually far it is up the track. No way is this a 5star luxury property. Plastic table cloth, rickety chairs. Views out of windows of either what looked like a landslide and a pile of slaps. Very cold but heating was good. Bed excellent. Lack of storage for clothes we keep them in our cases as didn’t fancy putting them in smelly fusty wardrobe. No cupboard space as it was taken up with stuff and damp collector. Very disappointed. Requested to remove shoes but slippers provided were very used So no way we would use those. Bathrobe provided but again we’re probably new when it first open not using them.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. It is very disappointing to read that you had all these issues yet did not bring any of them to my attention on the several occasions that we saw you during your stay at the property. The information online is extremely clear in regards to most of your points, and we ensure this is kept up to date so your expectations are met on arrival. The property is clearly described as being on a farm, therefore you wouldn’t expect a normal size road. It is a tarmac road and residents are very accommodating and will reverse to allow holiday guests easier access if they meet on the smaller parts of the road. We advertise our property as a 4 star property not 5 star. Although guest feedback is, that it is of a 5 star standard. It’s a shame that you didn’t have the same view. Cooking facilities are more than adequate for two people, but I can appreciate maybe a little bit more difficult if one guest is a vegetarian. Certain things are put in place to protect the property, like the oil table cloth and slippers to protect the floors. All linen, slippers and bathrobes are washed on every change over, even when we know they haven’t been used. This is to ensure everything is kept to a high hygienic standard. The property is a little older but we do not have an issue with damp and as it is continually booked, therefore it wouldn’t have the opportunity to smell musty or fusty as you state. The views out the front of the property are of a lovely garden setting and the surrounding areas have all been done to a high standard with lots of nature friendly areas, as owners we feel very strongly about being eco-friendly and encourage our guests to enjoy the outdoors as much as we do. We are pleased you managed to stay the full length of your stay despite the issues you incurred and hoped if you did visit again, you would let us know of any problems whilst in the property, to give us that opportunity to rectify whilst you are there. We couldn't fault it in any way. It was so clean and comfortable and in a perfect location. Seeing the calves and cows on the dairy farm just opposite was lovely too. Thank you to Jill for all the goodies that were left for us on arrival and the swan towels, they were masterpieces in themselves! We were sorry we didn't get to meet you Jill. A lovely location for the coast and surrounding countryside. On arrival we found a lovely welcome in the form of some wine, eggs, biscuits and marmalade. The whole of the property is well designed and has everything you would ever need and more. Little touches everywhere show how the owner goes above and beyond to make your stay special. We only wish that we had tried some of the course offered on site and next time we definitely will.

It was nice to be adjacent to a Dairy Farm with all the noises one would expect. The gardens for the property were delightful and it was a joy to be able to have meals outside during the holiday. The property's own nature reserve kitted out with features such as a tree house was a delight to explore. From the highest point a view to the sea with Uplyme and Lyme Regis in the foreground. Several walks started from the property which was lovely as the car could be left behind.

The annexe had everything you needed and the cleanliness was excellent which is very reassuring in the current climate. The views over the valley are amazing and our only neighbours were the cows in the adjoining farm. Walking into Lyme Regis along the river was peaceful and also a good workout getting back to Valley View. We would recommend without any hesitation and hopefully will have the opportunity to return there ourselves.

Only a short walk or drive away from the Uplyme village is a beautiful seaside town of Lyme Regis, famous with fossil enthusiasts.

The walk along the river takes around 30 minutes.

The return is uphill, so you may wish to take a bus home.

Lyme Regis centre has many independent shops as well as there’s a specialist fossil shop and the acclaimed Town Mill bakery with delicious pastries.

You may wish to dine in one of restaurants such as Hix’s Oyster and Fish House.

If you wish for a beautiful getaway to Dorset countryside a short distance from the beach, The Valley View Farm Annexe is a perfect choice. Nature Reserve and Woodland In early July 2018 the owner of the Valley View Farm has been trying to attract a wider range of fauna and flora with water, additional nest boxes and trying to enhance the natural habitat for the benefit of all, including the guests.

Even though the property has been home to animals and plants for many years, the owner is making this a paradise for wildlife even on a higher level.

She is planning to install cameras so that the guests could experience wildlife from the comfort of the armchair, some kind of ‘Spring Watch’.

Jill, the owner, hopes that the guests will enjoy using the area and even try and make a camp or something similar.

With many branches and plenty of dead vegetation that might help with building works, that’s an ideal place to enhance your bush craft skills.

The owner has checklists and clipboards if you wish to take this seriously and see what you can spot!

It may encourage future guests to take upon a challenge and tick off sightings of their own. Courses Would you like learn to build a Devon Stone Wall or make your own bird boxes?
