  • "Lovely property with everything you needed."

Car parking is a bit of a struggle with a larger car. Shower over the bath would have been a great assett. With 6 of us sharing one shower it did take a while for us all to get ready. Will definitely be returning as the location is great near to so many beauriful places.

Property was clean & perfect for a large family like ours! Good base for getting around Devon.

  • "Had a lovely week here, the cottage was large enough for us and our two greyhounds, equipped with everything we needed."

Beds and sofas were comfortable, sofa in the dining room by the fire probably just needs throwing away, Garden is properly enclosed which is great. The parking space is a bit tight but we were able to park in it, Becky stopped by and was really helpful, and will get the bins out for you on bin night if she can get to them. Location wise, the cottage is just a short walk away from shops and pubs etc. and Chudleigh is great and really dog friendly and a great base for exploring other parts of Devon/torquay etc. Overall a great stay and we look forward to booking again soon!

  • "We had a wonderful week at Medland, thank you."

The housekeeper, Becky, went over & above to ensure we had all we needed. The cottage was warm, spacious, & comfortable. The parking is a challenge, and I wouldn’t want to attempt it with a larger vehicle. The sofa next to the wood burner is completely unusable, which was a real shame because it would have been lovely to cosy up next to the fire. It is completely worn out & desperately needs replacing. The sofas in the lounge were very comfortable though. We will be back.

  • "We absolutely loved staying at this house, it was comfy and clean, we had everything we needed and enjoyed the treats left for us."

It was a great base to get to the dog beach at Dawlish and the enclosed rear garden was a God send to dry off the dogs. We also loved the Brightside Dinner just up the road, really nostalgic. Couldn’t recommend this highy enough! Thank you for a great holiday.

  • "We booked Medland for a family holiday, five adults, two teenagers and a dog."

The property is ideally situated for exploring South Devon with lots to see and do. Chudleigh offers a selection of pubs, small shops and a Co-op, shame the fish and chip shop was closed when we were there. The sitting room was comfortable, though doesn't really cater for eight people, only offering a two seater and three seater sofa, plus a bean bag. The dining room was spacious, with a table and chairs for eight people. Unfortunately the sofa in the dining room isn't "a nice spot to unwind whilst waiting for those delightful meals to warm up" it's extremely uncomfortable and desperately needs throwing away. The front bedroom is very noisy early in the morning as it faces the road and the traffic noise "booms" between the buildings. We all found the beds uncomfortable, it's a shame the owners haven't taken on board the previous comments and at least replaced the mattresses. Two of our party went home early due to the lack of a good nights sleep. The kitchen had adequate utensils and pans, the dishwasher door didn't seem to close properly and a two slice toaster doesn't work very well for eight people. Parking is a challenge, but with a bit of persistence I managed with my Honda CR-V. I'm leaving this review hoping that the owners will make the effort to invest in the property, to improve the decoration, replace the tired bed linen and crockery, to name but a few things. The saving light was Becky who was extremely helpful, especially when the rain came in through the kitchen ceiling! If your a family looking for a holiday in Devon I would seriously look for better value elsewhere.

Thank you for your feedback, which we appreciate in the spirit of constructive criticism. Whilst bedding is continually replaced and updated we have since your visit replaced all mattresses and bedding with new and refreshed the decor. The roof has also been repaired, apologies for this inconvenience, this was completely unforeseen but I believe dealt with swiftly. We wish you all the best. Property Owner

  • "First I would like to say how pleasant Becky was & the welcome pack was a nice touch."

The beds were very uncomfortable & we were all having a bit of a problem by the end of the week. There was very poor water pressure upstairs & if anyone turned a tap on while you were in the shower, it would stop. It was impossible to have both showers going at any one time. The lounge was cosy and, as a party of 4, this was fine, but it would be a bit tight if there were 6 adults. Finally, I would have liked to have hoovered the lounge floor before leaving but could not find one, also no dustpan or brush? It was also very dirty, one of the chest of drawers had sugar on top of it and was black when wiped. Little things, I know but make a difference.

Firstly, thank you for staying with us, and for your review - constructive criticism is always welcome; we want to provide the best experience possible for our guests. We have noted your comments about the beds and will investigate ways to improve comfort here. The mattresses are fairly new, and with toppers, but where we can do more to ensure a good night's sleep, we will do. We have not had comments about water pressure previously, and will have our plumber look into this. I am pleased you found the living room cosy; larger families tend to find they have more than enough room throughout the house, but we will look at space-saving measures throughout the property. Thank you for considerately wanting to hoover the living room prior to departure. We do not expect our guests to do this and so don't advertise that there is a hoover in the pantry, along with a dustpan and brush. We will try to make these facilities clearer without implying that we want guests to do the cleaning. PS Couldn't agree more about Becky, she is fantastic! Property Owner

  • "Was not 'covid clean' kitchen surfaces were very sticky."

Only 1 bathroom was fully operational as the shower in 1 off them was set at 45 degrees & could not be altered. Our holiday party consisted of 6 adults so showering was extremely frustrating. Also the staircase to the top floor was very badly lit which could prove a hazard

Firstly, thank you for staying with us, and for your review - constructive criticism is always welcome; we want to provide the best experience possible for our guests. I would like to assure you that all surfaces and touch-points, including the kitchen, are cleaned with antibacterial and antiviral products between guests. The kitchen surfaces are of a resin composition that we have discovered can get sticky, especially in the heat. We plan to have these replaced at the earliest opportunity, but this has not been possible in a busy holiday period. Regarding the shower, I believe we spoke at the time of your holiday and I can understand your frustration. At that point, we sent our plumber round and found that the thermostat had seized; as we discussed, replacing it would have created a greater disruption to your holiday. We will be having this shower and bathroom replaced in the off-season. Thank you for sharing your experience that of the lighting at the top floor of the building, this has not previously been noted and we will look at how to increase lighting here. Property Owner

It has everything you need to have a good holiday. There is a welcome pack on arrival with all the essentials for a drink and a treat to have before you unpack. A welcoming housekeeper on hand if you need anything. Just a note that although it has a parking space at the side it is very tight and larger cars will not fit in the space. Street parking is very sparce as its taken up by residents and double yellow lines. Also its on a main Rd so noise from the traffic wakes you up. Situated in a lovely town with friendly folk.

Very useful to have 2 toilet/washing facilities on same level as main bedrooms. Nice back 'garden' to relax in. Need to plan entry in to car space, must reverse in. Enjoyed the nearby village facilities, particularly a more than adequate Coop which stocked just about everthing we needed. Large supermarkets not far away.
