  Lots of special touches that we appreciated. The hamper was a treat; my son and granddaughter (from Brazil), took some items back home with them! A pleasure to come home to each evening. Loved the views. An enjoyable walk down to the beach, good restaurants and an ideal spot from which to explore many nearby places.

• "Great place to stay in Lyme."

  We had no heating for half our stay in cold weather. Your refund of £50 was inadequate.

  We were sorry you experienced some problems with the heating. Sadly if you had used the emergency phone number with the booking agent we would have been able to provide you with heaters and put the immersion heater on for hot water whilst waiting for the engineer. Sadly you didn’t report the problem for over a day. It was then dealt with efficiently. We were pleased you found your four day stay a great place to stay, even though you experienced this problem and we hope you come again. Property Owner

  Also very quiet at night. Its a very short distance down to the sea front but its a very steep hill to climb back. Cannot really find anything negative about the property, thoroughly enjoyed the stay

• "It was lovely to return to Bucket and Spade, not least because the owners make it so welcoming, and also provide excellent instructions on how to use the equipment (which we need!"

  ). The tremendous views along the coastline are still outstanding... It would be good if the bedside lights in the main bedroom could have brighter bulbs for reading in bed. We'd also like to thank Lyme Bay Holidays for responding so swiftly and efficiently (within a couple of hours) to sort out our problem with the dishwasher.

• "We’ve stayed at this property so many times and we now consider it our home from home."

  It’s ideally located near all the facilities of Lyme. It’s got parking and plenty of space for everyone. We especially love the views from the French windows upstairs. No matter what the weather you can watch the skies and sea change colour between Lyme and Portland, if you are lucky. Can’t fault this property and we are grateful to the owners Tim and Sue for sharing their lovely home

• "You have a wonderful house, superbly done and beautifully looked after and I adored the views from the massive opening window at the front of the living room My only feedback would be to change the beds in the 2nd bedroom to ziplock double We had two couples on our holiday and one couple had to be in singles."

  When they could have been in a double - the room is big enough, this is more flexible than two singles that can’t be pushed together Otherwise wonderful and I’d definitely come back. The benefit of parking too which is hard to find Lyme Regis was an added bonus

• "Superb accommodation !"

  We had a wonderful stay at this stylish, comfortable home for 5 days over Christmas. The reality is so much more than the photos show. We would love to return in the summertime to make even more use of the fab bi-fold doors which give a great view of the coastline. • "We’ve stayed at Bucket and Spade on numerous occasions and we will continue to do so for two reasons, firstly we love Lyme Regis and secondly we now treat this property as a home from home."

  It’s comfortable, it has off road parking and fantastic views over the Jurassic coastline. We would definitely recommend this property to both families and couples as it is well equipped for both. We actually returning to this property in December to get a taste of Lyme as we near Christmas

  Superbly appointed property with everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. The facilities are first class with stunning views around the coast. A real bonus is the close proximity to the town and seafront in walking distance from the property. We are already looking forward to our visit next year as in our opinion this is the best place to stay on the Jurassic Coast!

• "Except for Covid, we've been coming to B&S for 12 years."

  We last came in 2019. Everything fine but, being elderly and unfamiliar, we had to fumble with the new cooking instructions - a tense and trialing experience when tired. Otherwise all as splendid as usual. But, sadly, we may not be coming again as prices are likely to be beyond our pensioners' budget.

• "The property is advertised exactly as it says."

  The kitchen is very well equipped and the layout of the kitchen, dining area and lounge with it's bifold doors opening out to views of the sea is both restful and heavenly. The beds were very comfortable and everything was spotless. We had a most wonderful stay and our leg muscles improved over the days with our walks to and from the sea.

  Hi I had to ring ahead and spoke to a Lovely lady called helen who went above and beyond to find out if the house had an upstairs toilet for My mother in law , I missed her phone call back and didn’t want to miss the opportunity so I booked online but i wanted to personally praise her as she was very helpful , first time using Sykes and I will definitely use again , house was beautiful as was Lyme Regis only downside was the weather so next time can you please guarantee us sunshine ( haha )

• "We recently enjoyed a 3night stay at Bucket and Spade."

  We found the location with parking excellent.The house is superbly appointed,with great views .The welcome goody bag was a lovely touch,and we enjoyed the contents thankyou. The only downside for us was the overcomplicated oven/microwave.We would have liked to find a standard oven which most people are familiar with. This resulted in us not being able to dine in.

• "Excellent property in a great location."

  In fact Bucket & Spade is better than the pictures show on the Sykes website. New sofa and chairs in the lounge and refurbished bathroom downstairs. We were almost put off booking because of the bathroom with a hand held shower in the bath, but this has now been replaced with a free standing shower head, new bath and tiling. Cannot fault this property.

• "We have stayed in this property numerous times as we love both Lyme Regis and the peace of mind of knowing that we are in the safe hands of Lyme Bay Holidays should anything go wrong."

  The advantages of staying in Bucket and Spade are numerous. Firstly there is ample park space for two good sized cars which is a huge plus around Lyme. Next, the accommodation is of high quality throughout and finally the views from the upstairs lounge are superb whatever the weather. As usual the house was immaculately cleaned by the LBH team and there was a welcome pack of goodies awaiting us on arrival. Towels are provided which is a help and the kitchen is well equipped should you choose to dine in. There is also a smart tv with all the usual apps as well as the option of Apple TV, a PlayStation and a DVD player for those rainy days. We would recommend LBH and this property to anyone who wants a truly comfortable stay in a lovely part of Dorset

It is good to highlight the support services provided to any potential holidaymaker when booking through Lyme Bay Holidays, as you and ourselves have experienced over many years; nothing is ever too much trouble. We have been letting our cottage through Lyme Bay Holidays for nearly twenty years and no matter what assistance is required, they always provide a prompt and professional service. We agree that having off-road parking for two vehicles directly next to the cottage is a bonus in Lyme Regis, with so many properties having no parking, inconvenient parking, or requirements to park in local car parks, all of which can lead to a stressful holiday when you consider the narrow streets around Lyme Regis and the need to drag suitcases over long distances. Thank you for mentioning views across the sea from the cottage upstairs lounge area, as images on the website do not portray just how beautiful the view is across Lyme Bay, to Golden cap and even Portland Bill on good days. • "We had a wonderful stay at Bucket and Spade."

  The house is beautifully designed and decorated to a very high standard. The open plan living area works really well and has a fabulous panoramic view over the bay. There are many folders with instructions and Lyme Regis is only a few minutes' walk away. There was a very generous "Welcome Pack' of biscuits, fudge, coffee etc which was very thoughtful. • "We really enjoyed our week in Bucket and Spade."

  It is a beautifully furnished and equipped house. The location is great too and nicely set back from the road. We could see that the owners have continually updated and modernised the property and we benefitted from a newly fitted kitchen and bi fold doors. Our suggestions would be a new set of frying pans and a silicon spatular (to prevent scratching of the pans) plus tongues. A few more mugs would be helpful and some more large glasses. Otherwise everything was pretty perfect. Thank you for a lovely stay.

• "What a lovely holiday cottage!"

  We really enjoyed our stay and the view from the front window was just amazing. The cottage has everything we needed, was incredibly clean and was an easy walk into town. All the appliances and fittings were top of the range. My only negative comment would be that even though I googled the user manual, we weren’t able to get the dryer part of the washer-dryer to dry any clothes. It might be more straightforward to have a separate dryer, on top of the worktop. Also would be useful to have an electric fan available for each bedroom. Overall, we would definitely return to this lovely cottage!
