  • "Firstly you should mention that the stairs terribly steep and not suitable for a retired couple."

But all bedrooms are upstairs. Secondly the central heating doesn't work,it was quite cold from the kitchen onwards. The cottage was nice for our family of eight, and the area and countryside was also nice.

  • "A wonderful cottage and great stay."

There is some really useful info in the cottage, however the font of the text is really hard to read, some info about bins confusing and out of date (bin dates). E.g. the four wheeled bin at the top of the drive for rubbish, the recycling - put the bins or the bags at the top of the drive? We did our best. The central heating instructions were non-existent so we had a guess at how to use them - would rather have had instructions so we didn't break anything (needed as the kitchen end of the cottage gets quite cold). A little fan on the fire (specific ones for fires) would be great to help push the heat into the rest of the cottage. I did raise the (potential chimney) water leak in the kitchen with the office, so hopefully the owner has been made aware as the ceiling is bowing in the alcove. A little bit of chicken wire or netting on the bottom of the large gate would be great to stop the dogs escaping - we used the windbreaks so we could relax and not worry they were heading out for a swim! None of the above was a major issue at all, just hopefully a bit of info to help improve the property. It was really very lovely and felt like home, thank you :-)

  • "What a lovely cottage and spot."

There has clearly been a lot of thought and effort put into making it comfortable and welcoming. The log burner is a beast and was more than up to dealing with the cooler weather, the supply of logs more than generous. This made for cosy evenings. How to improve? Very little needed, but it would help to augment the excellent range of cooking gear with a pair of large tongs for picking up cooking food, and the frying pan is wonky... cooked breakfasts are de rigeur in winter. I found the instructions for all the appliances, were they signposted? I feel these are minor niggles against the high overall standard that Millwater Cottage offers, even the ancillaries like a short walk to the pub were spot on!

  • "This is an amazing property if you have a dog, I have stayed in a few ‘dog friendly’ properties that are really lovely but have cream carpets, white sofas and a really high end spec that just isn’t realistic if you have come on a walking holiday with your dog."

Millwater cottage is absolutely perfect, all the floors in the main area of the property are easy to sweep and mop, there are doors to shut off the carpeted living room and stairs and the boot room is perfect for using after a muddy walk. The enclosed garden was also brilliant for our dog, there was a very small area where the wall was low enough for an escape attempt but as long as you are outside with your dog it’s not a problem. It was a really comfortable stay and so nice not to be given a huge list of chores to do before leaving, plus a slightly later check out time than I have experienced previously which made the leaving process less stressful. I would recommend to anyone looking for a stress free holiday with their pet and we hope to come back again. Thank you!

  • "It’s lovely cottage and very clean and fresh linens, Only issue we had was the must and damp smell, had few issues with bath tub leaking but we had the maintenance fix them immediately."

I guess it’s expected when we visit an old property. Anyone visiting should be warned about the people around maintaining the surrounding we had our car badly damaged ( it has costs us now about £500-£600 for repainting and scratches in the glasses) from them cutting the edges. They didn’t had the courtesy of informing us to move our car parked in the our parking space. I would kindly like to advise the visitors to be informed in advance to avoid such inconvenience caused and set them back from enjoying such a lovely property.

The cottage is in a rural location surrounded by fields and countryside. From time to time local farmers will undertake hedge trimming but we would not be advised of this. We are sorry to hear that your car was impacted by this and will make the property owner aware as they may well know the local land owners. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner
