  • "A very well equipped cottage."

Very close to shops and restaurants. Everything was very clean and tidy. We enjoyed our visit to Dartmouth very much.

  • "The property felt damp and we would not choose to stay in the winter."

A knife sharpener would have been great asset. No

Thank you for your comment. I’m disappointed but also surprised that you found the property damp as a great deal of work has recently been carried out after the wettest winter on record which particularly affected Dartmouth as a coastal town. In addition to some internal damp proofing, we also installed a top of the range Meaco dehumidifier which has been plumbed into the building and switches on automatically whenever humidity reaches a certain level. If this was not working then it’s a shame it was not reported so that we could have arranged a fix during your stay. We’ll aim to add a knife sharpener to the kitchen, but I’ve never seen one myself in a holiday rental. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage right in the centre of town, close to amenities and some lovely restaurants, but tucked away enough so that it's not noisy (if you ignore the seagulls!"

). Perfect size for our family of three.

  • "Two things worth a comment 1."

When we arrived our car was parked in the very tiny street when we got into the flat we couldn't find the parking voucher for Mayor CP. Eventually it was found on a chair under the dining table tucked in. Cars were in the street waiting to pass. The shower curtain makes it very difficult to have a shower without soaking the floor at the tap end. Everything else was great and we enjoyed our stay thank you.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in this delightful property."

It has a secure and secluded private entrance and is very quiet, despite its proximity to shops, restaurants and the vibrant harbour. Light floods into the open plan living area through a large south facing window which features an attractive window seat, while the kitchen and bedrooms enjoy the afternoon sun. There is striking attention to detail throughout, with tasteful decor, quality furnishings, themed vintage pictures and imaginative lighting. It is clear that expense hasn't been spared in making this property feel like a home. The attractive and well equipped kitchen appears to have been recently fitted, as does the stylish roll top bath with its overhead shower. Both bedrooms have been furnished with comfort in mind and the mattresses and bedding reflect the same emphasis on quality that is evident elsewhere. The second bedroom is small but charming, with fun seascape themed pictures and curtains, a comfortable truckle bed and an ingeniously compact set of drawers/dressing table and wardrobe. It was a lovely break in an excellent property and we'll definitely be back!

  • "The flat is thoughtfully refurbished and well equipped."

The bathroom floor was a delight. It is ideally situated for shops, restaurants and other town facilities. It could do with some hooks; e.g. back of bathroom door, wet weather hanging space? The bathroom also needs a chair/stool. It was a bit short of cleaning equipment e.g. a mop for spillages!

  • "A lovely ground floor flat close to the centre of Dartmouth."

Very well equipped with all you should need and has a very comfortable bed. My only negatives are that the non-slip shower mat needs to be replaced, it was mouldy and also the property would benefit from some hooks to hang towels, tea towels etc

We are really glad you enjoyed your stay at 34a Clarence Street. We have now replaced the shower mat, thank you for pointing this out and we have passed your comments on to the owner regarding hooks. We hope to welcome you back again soon, The Coast & Country Cottages team. Property Owner

Sofa a little uncomfortable to sit on and welcome hamper a little basic but a great little cottage in a brilliant location. Would stay again

  • "All was great until the battery in the smoke alarm expired!"

I was woken at 4.30am by the piercing beeping that follows! So loud it probably woke the whole street up! No way was it safe for me to try and unscrew it so I packed up and left!! Such a shame!

  • "Someone entered the property without letting me know."

This put me on edge as didn't know if someone was going to enter at anytime. It doesn't say on the listing for the property that there is a washing machine when there is one. I think blinds are needed in the kitchen window and over the top of the door. A welcome folder would be great as well to inform people of where to put things such as rubbish and recycling. Telephone numbers of what to do in an emergency. (Out of hours) etc. The property itself is excellent but these things are letting it down.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
