  • "Property itself is lovely and clean."

Location is a nightmare. We were lucky the road was empty as it took us 20 minutes to squeeze our way through the street as it was extremely thin. We ended up reversing up on the last day as the property was closer to the end of the one way system. This was extremely stressful. We were also not made aware of the regatta or that there would be a local 5k, both leaving streets shut for the day. The company would benefit from communicating with their customers as we could have planned our day out differently for arrival.

  • "Misleading description of property."

No help to solve problem. The stairs were a real problem - told by booking office to use a wheelchair! Property clean and comfortable. More suitable for a young family. Road extremely narrow and was not wide enough for normal size cars. Damaged car on the lane and it took a week to rectify. Neighbours very friendly and helpful.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We were made aware by Coast and Country that you booked Huffin believing it to be on one level. The property description is clear as to the lay out of the house over three floors. This is an unfortunate mistake and I am sure it impacted on the enjoyment of your stay but we are satisfied that the agent is in no way at fault. We are pleased that you found the property comfortable and we will pass on your kind comment to our neighbours. Property Owner

  • "Property was very nice although being on 3 levels would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues."

If you are not a confident driver then this property would not be good for you as the road the cottage is situated on is very narrow. When we arrived the lower bedroom and bathroom had not been serviced but was quickly rectified. The outdoor balcony desperately needs attention as I slipped on it and needs a deep clean and some anti slip protection on it

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Guests are encouraged to read the listing carefully; notes are provided as to the lay out of the house and the width limit on South Ford Road. We note your comment about the outdoor balcony. As such, it is being refurbished this week. Property Owner

  • "Very well modernised and nicely maintained, but quite compact, particularly in top bedroom."

Stairs are quite narrow and steep, so guests need to be relatively agile. The one way access road is restricted to 6ft. Max, width, so care is needed when approaching, particularly after dark..

  • "Spotlessly clean , modern well presented property."

We were very comfortable here. It had all the facilities we needed. Good location , short walk into town, off road parking .Narrow lane to get here we just managed with a Ford Focus to get here wouldn’t want to try with our bmw. The house not suitable for anyone with mobility problems however . One little glitch there were no towels and one room didn’t have duvet cover or pillowslips. It was a great stay thank you !

Thank you so much for your lovely review of Huffin and we’re glad you had a wonderful time. As Huffin actually has three bedrooms, guests are always welcome to request additional bedding and linen but thank you for raising this; we have followed up with the agent. We hope to welcome you back to Huffin in the future! Property Owner

A wonderful comfortable house ideal for 2 couples or a couple with 2 children. It’s so central to all Dartmouth has to offer. A few minutes walk & you’re by the river for ferries to Kingswear & buses to Totnes, Torcross & Plymouth. The kitchen is well equipped & the washing machine was a real bonus. The road is extremely narrow but to have a car park space this central to town was fantastic.

  • "As with previous reviews of this cottage, there is a definite damp and cold problem on the lower floor where the best and largest bedroom is."

The problem is made worse because the heating doesn't work. The "heated" towel rails didn't work so consequently we had to hang up our constantly damp towels on the airing rack which of course just added to the dampness. This cottage could be excellent had it not been for the above issues.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you experienced problems with the heating and hot water. We understand that the matter was quickly resolved and the boiler has now had a full service so there should be no further issues of this nature. owners response Property Owner

  • "Huffin, a delightfull, upside down cottage!"

. on a VERY steep lane, as was expected in Dartmouth! As an 80 year old, i managed to drive my car up and down this narrow , steep lane! luckily i took my mobility scooter with me so i could go down to the town quite easily when we wanted to go to the market, shops etc. The cottage stairs very steep, I just about managed them! i would suggest the owners put a hand grip in the upstairs shower cubicle, as the step quite high, and no anti slip mat on cubicle tray. the cottage very well appointed, had everything we needed. the duvet ag the car with too much stuff bit too thick for summer months, perfect for the first 3 days whilst the weather cold, but too hot after when the weather got warmer. may i suggest a thinner duvet with a throw if it should turn cold. There was even picnic utensils, but we had brought our own as we didn't know they were there! might be worthwhile putting this on the details.

Thank you very much for this useful feedback and we’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

The shower in the downstairs bathroom needed repaired but Sykes dealt with this very promptly. The upstairs bedroom and en-suite is very cramped. There are few Freeview channels available so a smart TV would be a welcome addition. Cottage is in a quiet location and the lounge is very comfortable. We would return as long as we did not need use of the top bedroom.

  • "Firstly the property was lovely and was furnished to a high standard."

The kitchen was very well equipped and the balcony outside gave us a real holiday feel! We enjoyed our stay there very much. There are a couple of points I think worth mentioning though as while they didn't really impact on our holiday others may find them more problematic. Firstly there is nowhere at all in the property to hang clothing other than two rails with hooks on them, designed I would think for coats. There is some limited storage in drawers and in under bed drawers but some guests may want more I think. The other point is that the road to access the property is very narrow indeed. For some drivers and for those with larger vehicles this might be an issue.

Many thanks for your kind review of Huffin. We are so pleased that you found the house to be comfortable and we really value the feedback. There is a wardrobe with space for 20+ hanging items in the bunk bedroom. Guests are very welcome to use this even if that bedroom is unoccupied. We are fortunate to have the large parking space and manoeuvring area in front of Huffin given South Ford Road’s 6ft foot width limit. Hopefully this made things a little easier. We would encourage all guests to drive slowly and with care, especially if arriving by large family car or small commercial vehicle. Devon roads can be challenging! Once again, thank you for your comments and we are delighted that you had a lovely holiday. With all good wishes Huffins owners Property Owner
