"Enjoyed our stay here in this cosy cottage."
Everything at hand that you required. Clean warm and cosy. Watching the various birds in the garden was amusing. Would visit again.
-
"Beautiful, spacious place with grand views in such tranquil surroundings."
-
"I love this cottage; it is very rural and is accessed via a single-lane road that was fully resurfaced last year."
There are fields and woods to explore, and lots of wild birds to watch feeding and flying around the garden (as well as the Hayne hens). The cottage is very clean, roomy, and kept in good condition, with a washing machine and tumble dryer outside in a separate building. Mark (the owner) is very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Really good location to easily get to Honiton, Exeter, Exmouth, and Lyme Regis. Bath is about 90 minutes away for trips further afield.

"The property was superb."
It was clean and lots of lovely touches. Everything had been thought about to make our stay enjoyable. The amenities were great.
-
"Lovely property in a lovely setting, very comfortable."
My dog and I enjoyed the meadow and river walks within a stones throw. You have to travel up a few narrow lanes to and from the cottage, but it is very convenient for most attractions.
-
"Excellent cottage everything you need lovely views only downside was single track road to accommodation"
-
"This is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage in a nice peaceful setting."
The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The narrow lane to the property was initially a worry but we only encountered a couple of vehicles and we managed just fine. I wouldn't let that put me off if we decided to return. I would be happy to have another holiday here as the locotion is also very good. The verandah was very pleasant to sit on and sighting the birds was a bonus.

"This was our second holiday here such a lovely cottage in beautiful quiet countryside."
Each morning we took the dogs for a 7am round walk through the hayfields on a path cut by the farmer what a way to start the day. The cottage is clean and well provided and we were left a delicious cake on our arrival, you can buy the most delicious eggs from their own chickens on request. This was a holiday with a friend my husband and I are going back for another week next month highly recommend you give it a go. If you like watching the birds flit around the garden has lots of.birds to watch eating from the provided bird feeders. Many thanks for a lovely break see you soon
-
"A very well equipped and comfortable cottage."
The cleanliness and standard of accommodation was excellent. It is a credit to the owners. The location and setting of the cottage was superb. We had an excellent holiday.

"Lovely cottage in a lovely setting worth going for the wildlife alone"
-
"This property is very well kept."
Fantastically well stocked kitchen, full set of pots, baking trays, cooking utensils. This accommodation suited the needs of my girlfriends and I very well. The walk in wet room was ideal, I brought my own shower stool, there was a handrail in shower too. Plenty of electrical sockets, so able to plug in cpap machine. Beds were comfortable. The accommodation was down a narrow one track type road, it felt as if we were in the middle of the countryside off the beaten track. It felt relaxing from the minute we walked in. The view from the lounge was amazing and we spent hours just watching nature. Would definitely stay at this property again.

"Lovely and very clean cottage in pretty setting."
Warm and cosy with little extra things like flowers, cakes, milk on arrival. Huge master bathroom. Master bed duvet could be bigger but blankets provided which covered the gap. Lane is tricky - narrow and lots of pot holes but with the right vehicle it's fine. We only met 1 car. Would stay here again winter or summer as it's so cosy and warm. Great location for lots of attractions.
-
"The cottage is very clean and well-equipped."
The garden is well-maintained and the balcony provided a great spot to watch the birds. The bed is extremely comfortable and the facilities are great. The location is ideal for both walking locally and exploring further afield including the coast. Acknowledging previous comments about the lane, we only met one vehicle during our week. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. The welcome pack was much appreciated. We would highly recommend this cottage.
-
"The cottage was very clean well maintained garden."
Lovely touches like the fresh egg, cake, milk in the fridge tea and coffee. Beautiful sweet pea flowers on the table. Even the dog had a little bag of treats. Only one down side pot holes on the road leading to the cottage. But not their fault.
-
"Great place ideally located for ourselves."
Ideal for taking the dog
-
"Lovely clean cottage and all on one level so perfect for my elderly mum."
Dog friendly too! Tranquil setting which made for a lovely relaxing break. Would definitely recommend and come back.

"This is a lovely property which was very clean and comfortable."
I would stay again if able. The sat nav doesn’t seem to be accurate and the road is a single track with nasty potholes. Once there however , it was very, very nice.
We provide directions direct to the property to overcome reliance on sat nav systems. Postcodes in rural locations such as this cover several properties over a wide area. The country wide problem with potholes is ongoing in this beautiful area as well and as residents we are constantly reporting them to the local authority and occasionally they get filled! "This was one of Best Cottages we have ever stayed in, it was spotless and the owners had taken great care in making sure the Cottage was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need."
The only thing they couldn’t provide was ‘The Weather’ We had a very nice Welcoming Pack ‘lovely home made welcome cake’ Our very best wishes to Mark & Ann. Barbara & Roger

"We had a brilliant stay again at your lovely cottage."
We actually saw a woodpecker as well as other beautiful birds just outside the patio doors. Lots of places to explore in the local vicinity
-
"Lovely relaxing week spent at 2 Shippen cottage."
Cottage has everything you need and was very clean. Watching the birds is addictive. We enjoyed a daily walk up the field with the dog to rope swing and when it was clear to see the sunset. All in all a very enjoyable week.
-
"We had a beautiful stay here."
The cottage is exceptionally well-equipped and the surrounding area is gorgeous. Only 20-25 minutes from Lyme Regis/Seaton beach where we spent most of the week. Milk in the fridge and cake on arrival was a lovely touch. Beds very comfortable. The balcony was great for evenings. As a note, the cottage is down a single track country road with limited passing places. We had very few issues meeting other vehicles during our stay but something to be aware of when booking.
-
"We very much enjoyed our stay."
We felt we were in the middle of nowhere. We felt the road in from the A303 was much better than coming in from the A35 for our vehicles. Enjoyable walks from around the property. Warm Welcome.
-
"Holiday cottage was clean and tidy and owners were very welcoming."
Good location for exploring Devon and crossing into the Dorset border.
-
"This is an amazing property."
I can't say enough good things about it. Extremely well equipped, tastefully decorated and in a beautiful, quiet location. It was immaculately clean. Lovely gifts on arrival were very appreciated. Location is nestled in the hills with a lovely deck and garden and less than 30 mins drive from a plethora of activities for families. Our two young kids particularly loved the meadow and the chickens. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
-
"Clean, comfortable and well equipped, the cottage provided a great base from which to explore Sidmouth, Branscombe, Seaton and Lyme Regis."
We enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders in the garden and our dog enjoyed his runs in the adjacent fields. Thank you for the welcome gifts - much appreciated. We hope to return.
-
"This is one of the best holiday lets we've had."
Everything was spotlessly clean and it was well equipped.
-
"It is a beautiful cottage in one of our favourite counties and would definitely recommend it to anyone who asked."
We would book again when we return to that area. The fresh eggs were much appreciated.Lesley Ray & Harry.

"We stayed here last year and loved it so much we came back for another visit this year."
Lovely garden, many different birds visited us. Cottage was very comfortable, and well equipped. Would highly recommend. We enjoyed visiting Lyme Regis (Our favourite place along the coast) and also would highly recommend a visit to Seaton Tramway and Seton Wetlands,

"Great place to stay, has everything you need in a lovely location."
Very comfortable.
-
"It is so clean and wonderfully spacious and has extras to make your stay comfortable."
The setting is so peaceful, just our favourite kind of views and lots of places to walk nearby. There are even maps kindly provided if you've not researched before your stay.

"We really couldn't fault Shippen cottages!"
Warm, clean and tidy. Beautifully presented with everything you could ever need. Amazing views and wildlife. Lots of walks right on the doorstep. In a peaceful location but only 15 mins drive from Honiton. We wouldn't hesitate to return or to recommend to anyone. The only thing to be aware of, which is no fault of the owners, is the condition of the lane leading to the cottages. It's tight and twisty with many potholes!
-
"A lovely cottage ideal if you are looking for a place to get away from it all."
Situated in a remote position, quiet and peaceful. The cottage was very comfortable, warm, clean, spacious and very well equipped. Fresh baked buns provided by our hosts were a welcome surprise, and delicious. The days prior to our visit had been awful, several days of torrential rain and strong winds, so we were unable to explore our immediate surrounding area, incredibly wet and muddy, much to my dogs disappointment. However, we made up for it by taking her to Lyme Regis, a dog friendly resort, which was very enjoyable, even warm and sunny! To sit and look out over the valley and gardens was an absolute joy with the added enjoyment of watching in close up, a huge variety of birds on feeders, including two Woodpeckers. Sadly our visit was cut short, but we have no hesitation recommending this cottage, and hope to return in the future.

"This is a lovely holiday cottage in a beautiful setting."
We were well located to visit friends in East & South Devon and West Dorset, as well as visit many of the nearby coastal towns. The cottage is warm, comfortable and spacious, and the decking/garden is south facing.

"Lovely cottage in a lovely rural location."
The owners had made a lovely cake for our arrival which was very much appreciated. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped, I can not fault it at all.
-
"The views from the balcony were beautiful, such a relaxing place to stay leaving all the hustle and bustle behind so that you can enjoy your holiday in peace."
-
"Great location, great views, Great holiday"
-
"Cottage very relaxing & comfortable, but is close to a number of nice places to visit"
-
"Beautiful cottage, very peaceful."
Lovely gardens, Particularly enjoyed the many different varieties of birds that visited us. Hosts exceedingly hospitable. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay, the cottage facilities were excellent. We had not been to this part of Devon before, and particularly enjoyed Seaton Tramway and Lyme Regis. We would love to come back sometime in the future.
-
"Fantastic location, a lovely cottage set in beautiful surroundings in a quiet lane, close to attractions in the area."
Helpful hosts and good communication. Will look forward to a return visit sometime.
-
"Access to the cottage was a single track tarmac lane with few passing places so you have to be careful, lovely cottage in a lovely position and very quiet."
Brilliant.
-
"Very welcoming hosts."
Great location for a relaxing break and great attention to detail in the cottage. Extremely comfortable and clean. We would consider returning in the future.
-
"Beautiful cottage, owners very friendly and helpful."
Received a gorgeous chocolate fudge cake on arrival and the dog even got treats. The en-suite is an added bonus, and the shower is fantastic ....... The windy road from the main road to the cottage is Something you get used to, hoping you don’t meet a car coming from the other direction
-
"We had a lovely welcome and the ‘goodies’ left were greatly appreciated."
The cottage was super, one of the best we have stayed in, comfortable, clean and well equipped. The only downside was the access, which was a shame, it was very steep and narrow from both directions, I wouldn’t like to visit on a frosty day !!
-
"The cottage is well appointed in a very quiet and pleasant setting yet close to all the local attractions."
We would certainly recommend it. The weather was great so that helped as well!
-
"Fantastic cottage, with wonderful views!"
Very helpful owners who left us home-made chocolate cake and fresh eggs on arrival. Cottage was extremely clean, only downside were the cluster flies. Very large living area with well equipped kitchen. Good size bedrooms with comfortable beds and huge ensuites. The single track road up to the cottages is narrow and steep in parts with no passing places ( we only met 4 cars coming the other way, in the whole week we stayed) Great wifi signal.
-
"We loved it."
The cottage is beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The view from the balcony at the rear is stunning as are all the different species of birds some of which became quite tame. The whole area is superb. We stayed in the twin bedded room and felt that could do with a bit more drawer space. Other than that small comment, the whole experience was brilliant.
-
"The best cottage we have ever stayed in for cleanliness and home comforts."
They had a little of everything in the kitchen and bathrooms to make life easier. Plenty of information was provided on places to visit, the surrounding area, walking and how everything worked. They had put a lot of thought into making guests welcome but we're not intrusive.
-
"We arrived and were welcomed with a vase of wild flowers, milk in the fridge, plenty of tea/coffee and sugar and the best ever homemade fruit slices."
Honey, our dog was also pleased to find a bag of dog treats waiting for her! The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout and much bigger than we expected. The beds were really comfortable and the wet room and shower in the bedrooms were perfect in every way. Everything has been thought of and a bookcase with plenty of reading material along with numerous bird identification books came in very handy. In the cupboard was a great collection of games. The wildlife in this lovely remote spot is amazing and kept us entertained for hours. We were really delighted to see three deer in the garden one morning, a great spotted woodpecker and a nuthatch. The strategically placed bird tables were always full of feathered visitors and we just had to sit on the comfortable sofas and look out of the French doors or go out on the balcony to see them. A pair of binoculars and a torch was also provided. We would have been happy to just stay and relax in the cottage, but actually found it to be an ideal central location for visiting the surrounding areas like Honiton, Seaton and Lyme Regis. The owners were excellent hosts and we felt honoured to be allowed to stay in their wonderful cottage. We will definitely be returning and are already recommending it to our family and friends.

Mrs Pammenter had kindly made a banana cake for us which was very welcome, and Mr Pammenter makes honey from his bees which you can purchase from him .Well worth it .We wouldnt hesitate to return to the cottage again .
