  • "Very much appreciated the cake, flowers, biscuits and wine."

The house and quality of the bedding, towels, etc. is very good. We have stayed here twice and are sorry not to be able to return if the house is sold.

Many thanks for your feedback and we are delighted you’ve enjoyed the house not only once but twice - if anything changes with our circumstances then Oakhurst might well remain available again - we enjoy sharing it! Property Owner

  • "Lovely house."

Very spacious but homely with comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen & many added extras, such as: children’s & adults’ books, games & wine. Beautiful location with glorious views though tricky to navigate narrow lanes. Quiet and so peaceful. We loved staying here with the family and Maddy was such a help with baby safe guarding equipment for 1 and a half year old. Must mention beautiful Lustleigh which had superb friendly village shop including pizzas on Thursdays & excellent food at The Cleave pub.

Many thanks for your wonderful response - Maddy really enjoyed helping your family and we are so pleased you made use of everything at Oakhurst - including the peace…. Delighted you enjoyed the house and village so much - we will let the Dairy and Cleave know of your positive feedback - as it will encourage them too - Kind regards Property Owner

  • "The house is lovely but we were taken aback by the approach road and parking."

This was definitely a negative for us. The kitchen could do with a thorough clean as there were cobwebs everywhere. The shower and toilet on the first floor makes an alarming noise when used, presumably this is a Saniflow system. The shower does not drain well either. There was a smell of sewage from the drains. Whilst at the property I received notification from Sykes that the cost of renting this property was reduced for future bookings, which I found rather annoying, having paid full price. We enjoyed being in Lustleigh and will probably return in future, but not to Oakhurst.

Many thanks for your honest feedback - we will address all your concerns - so pleased you enjoyed the house and your time away - we do not know of a reduction of price and so not sure what that was about - just to reassure you - kind regards Property Owner

  • "Oakhurst was fantastic."

It’s a beautifully maintained house - there’s a very well stocked kitchen and a lovely attic level - and its position just above the valley makes for incredible views. In every direction there’s an excellent walk. Maddy was very helpful and all the instructions were clear. I’d recommend Oakhurst very highly to any family looking for a stay in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

Many thanks for your review - we so appreciate your encouraging feedback and for leaving Oakhurst so tidy after your stay - Maddy was delighted to support you all and I know will extend her thanks too along with ours. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our time at Oakhurst, well equipped and generally comfortable."

We did feel the garden could do with some tidying and a deep clean in the kitchen would be good..... bit mucky between cupboards etc. However none of this prevented us having a great family get together. I would also like to thank Maddy for going beyond reasonable expectations to make our stay comfortable. Advice to others is to make sure you request cots and highchair equipment at time of booking...I forgot and it did result in some stress. Maddy very kindly sorted it. Local pub is a great place to eat.

Many thanks for your honest feedback - and have addressed where your concerns were - we are delighted you had a lovely holiday at Oakhurst. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay in this wonderful house."

The house has everything you could want and everyone commented how comfortable their beds were too! Nice and quiet and a nice view of the village from the front windows. We were holidaying with grandparents, children and two dogs and it worked well for everyone. The housekeeper was really lovely and accommodating also. It took us a while to get used to the roads as they are very narrow and steep immediately around the property but so long as you are aware and careful all is well. We ventured out everyday and enjoyed visiting the local area and Dawlish, Teignmouth, Torquay and Paignton. Overall a good week despite the great British weather!!

Wonderful you all had such a great holiday - thank you for choosing Oakhurst. Property Owner

The cottage was beautifully furnished, filled with all the comforts of home and the location was absolutely stunning! The pretty village with it’s quaint little shops, thatched cottages, church and pub was just a short walk from the property. The surrounding areas were stunning with lots of beautiful countryside and woodlands to walk your dog. Many thanks Maddy for a wonderful stay and thank you very much for the gorgeous hamper and delicious cake!

  • "Lovely house in a beautiful valley."

Great location within walking distance of a lovely village with a great pub. It was a shame the top bedroom had no blind on one of the velux windows so we had to stuff a blanket to cover it to enable the grandchildren to sleep. The lovely kitchen/dining area would have had a great view across the valley but there was an awful large Conifer tree obstructing any view.It was at the end of their neighbour garden so maybe the owner could persuade them to have the tree removed.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you had a lovely stay. The owner is currently looking into blinds for the velux and we hope these will be fitted soon. We hope to see you back again. Property Owner
