  • "Lovely house ."

Fabulous facilities just difficult with the small steps from drawing room, dining room and small sitting room . Not really suitable for under 2/3 year olds , or elderly with sight problems . Two of our toddlers had several falls ! But survived and no harm done ! Noisy with stone floors , it would be great if chair legs could have some sort of pads applied to reduce the noise, both in kitchen and dining room. A kitchen mop would have been helpful. But honestly it was a great house and we loved it . Flowers ,cake and milk on arrival a thoughtful and welcome touch . Thank you again . We will return another year . Private chef, from Outside Inn Cuisine Team , recommended by Mrs Cunningham, was an absolutely treat. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable. Jakki

My family loved the whole experience. Our parties are range was from 11 to 73 and all loved it. The kids were a bit disappointed with the quality of the Wi Fi however the adults were delighted with poor reception. Piece. The indoor pool was a great success as the heating for the outdoor pool had driven down. The surrounding garden was a great hit on the warmer days. A couple of trips into Tavistock were very successful and enjoyable ( lovely little market town) We would have no hesitation in recommending The Coach House and would love to return in the future. Thanks for allowing us to holiday in your lovely home.

Comfortably furnished and beautifully decorated with great attention to detail (art work and ornaments). The kitchen is very well equipped with every size of pot, pan, dish and plate that you could want or need (but a new can opener is needed). The gardens are perfect. Shrubs for interest in every season surround the sunny and sheltered seating area and the neatly kept lawns are great for games of all sorts. The additional facilities of games room, heated outdoor pool, endless pool and sauna are perfect for families of all ages at all times of year.

The house was super well equipped , a nice touch having some basics for cooking and dishwashing. Some fresh eggs and brownies were a welcome surprise on arrival. Very cosy once the fires were lit as it was an exceptionally cold spell when we were there.

What a lovely place in stunning surroundings. Very helpful but unobtrusive owners, an extremely spacious house and plenty to do in the surrounding area. Our kids 3 1/2 and 21 months absolutely loved the play room, garden Wendy house and pool as well as the friendly sheep in the field behind the garden. Lots of excellent places too eat too - Bearslake Inn, Dartmoor Inn and The Cornish Arms, Tavistock come well recommended.

Our party of 4 adults, 5 kids (aged 5 to 9) and a dog had plenty of space and the children in particular loved the indoor swimming pool. The house feels very homely and we enjoyed cooking and eating at the very large dining table and sitting by the fires in the evening. As a minor point some of the cooking utensils need replacing and the food processor lid was broken, but this did not impact our stay and I would highly recommend this house for families.

  • "Have just spent a week in August in The Coach House."

The house is very comfortable and accommodated our family of 11 from the age of 4 to 70 very well, plus Honey the dog. The weather was warm but it was overcast with occasional showers most days. The outdoor pool was just across from the house and we made good use of that every day, then had a dip in the indoor pool and warmed up in the sauna. We had bikes with us and cycled part of the Devon coast to coast cycle route and Drakes way cycle route. Made good use of the tennis court and games room, and walked through the farm onto the moors, so a very active week! We loved Tavistock for easy shopping and fish and chips. Enjoyed a pub meal in Lydford one evening. And for our last evening meal together bought a leg of lamb from the farm and with some vegetables from the walled garden, next door to the house, had a delicious dinner. Another summer holiday with the family making memories.

The property

There are few more picturesque places than this Dartmoor farmstead surrounded by trees at the end of a private farm lane.

Along the lane is this spacious coach house, complete with your own indoor swimming pool, games room and sauna, meaning the family will never be bored, whatever the weather brings.

The accommodation is elegant and comfortable with lots of windows and big rooms to relax in.

Chill out by the open fire in the big living room fireplace, gather around the table or the piano in the dining room which opens to a patio, or cook up a storm in the smart kitchen.

A den with wood burner and second TV is another cosy room, and the children get their own little snug with toys too.

Upstairs, the master double with its handsome mahogany bed boasts an en suite shower room, and there are four more bedrooms.

The beauty of this wonderful farmstead is the range of activities available, with a shared outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, games room and gym.

You can wander where you choose on the 250 acre farm, with its pond, animals and plentiful wildlife, and help too if you bring your wellies.

Get stuck into country pursuits in the shape of clay pigeon shooting, archery and mountain biking, or bring your own horses on holiday and ride on the moors which are just beyond the farm’s fields (small extra charges may apply).

You will eat like kings on this traditional farm, with eggs and fresh seasonal veg often available, or the friendly owner provides a sumptuous menu of evening meals; for eating out, Lydford is renowned for its two excellent food pubs.

If you can tear yourselves away from the farm, there is dramatic Dartmoor to explore by foot, bicycle or car, plunging Lydford Gorge and a ruined castle.

Water sports are on offer at Roadford Lake and Tavistock is an historic market town full of interest.

This is an ideal spot for a family holiday with lots to do on site or in the area.
