  • "Amazing little cottage, had everything you need and a great little garden."

You go down some very tigh country roads so be prepared to get your car into tight spaces and scraping vegetation! The only downside for us was the rule of no dogs downstairs, which we only found out in an emailed a week before arrival and had no chance of finding another place at short notice. We have it a go and alas our dog would not settle alone upstairs without us so we decided to sleep on the sofa pull out which you can imagine wasn't the most comfiest of sleeps. This should have been stated on the website before booking as we would likely not have booked the cottage of we had known of this rule, Sykes that ones on you. We understand no dogs on furniture but why not allowed in another room in the cottage where we likely dragged his doggy hairs downstairs with us regardless. Depsite this the cottage was lovely, and we still enjoyed our stay and explored plenty of Devon and Cornwall.

Dear Lucie, so pleased that you loved our little cottage, and once again my apologies that you were not informed by Sykes of our request to guests that no dogs in the bedroom or on the furniture - we ask this for the benefit of our all guests as not everyone likes having dogs where they sleep. I hope you can understand this and sorry again that you were not aware. Thank you though for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy - it is much appreciated, and I hope you will come back to visit this lovely area of South Devon again! • "A super cottage which was very clean( I’ve found a lot of cottages can be quite grubby!"

) Very well equipped and comfortable. The only thing I would say is that the step risers to the cottage are quite deep ( necessary for the layout) but this probably wouldn’t be an issue for most people ( I have has spinal operations so my mobility is impaired) A great boot room for when the weather is wet! A lovely welcome in a super accommodation

  • "Another lovely week at the Coach House which is a very comfortable property, with many thoughtful extra touches provided and in a peaceful location."

It was not an issue for me, but I did notice a lot of cobwebs around the place and the windows could also have done with a clean. Otherwise it was spotless. Regrettably I don't think I will be returning, as this time I found the steps up from the road difficult to negotiate.

Dear Margaret, thank you so much for your feedback and I do apologise for the windows needing a bit of a clean. We will miss welcoming you to The Coach House in the future, but thank you for all your past visits. Property Owner

  • "The Coach House in Kingston is a lovely, quaint period property in a beautiful village location."

Despite the size of the property, it is quite tiny, the space is very well planned and equipped. We loved the features such as the wood burning stove, the lovely little garden and terrace (a real sun trap), washing machine, an excellent cooker and very good quality crockery and saucepans etc and the library of books. Unfortunately there is a smell of damp downstairs which could do with some attention. The property is also quite dark and could really benefit from some updating. But it was spotlessly clean and for a few nights stay, absolutely fine. Otherwise, the property is in an idyllic location - the village of Kingston is beautiful and very peaceful, in gorgeous countryside and we found some stunning beaches nearby. There is also a fabulous pub in the village which serves exceptionally good home cooked food. Overall, considering the property’s location and value for money, this is a lovely little bolthole and left us feeling relaxed and refreshed after a four night stay. Thank you!

  • "The cottage is located in a lovely village with access to a pub and walks to the beach."

The cottage was clean and the garden had lovely views out into the field. The listing states the accommodation is on reverse level which was fine until we realised this meant your head is meters from every passing vehicle. If you’re a good sleeper this should be fine but unfortunately the noise was too much for us and is something we think others should be aware of as we’ve returned from our holiday in need of a good nights sleep.

  • "The village of Kingston is ideal for a "get away from it all" holiday."

There are beautiful countryside and coastal walks from the doorstep and it is quiet and peaceful compared to the tourist towns of the South Hams. It was me and my dog, and I appreciated the total privacy of the Coach House, especially the garden, but with the reassurance of knowing the owner was just down the road. My dog enjoyed communing with the cows over the garden hedge! The Coach House is a beautifully maintained and well equipped property, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches like towels for my dog and a really comfy bed with quality bedding. I wish I had booked another week, and hope to stay again in the future.

  • "A very nice property, immaculately clean."

However, there are two important matters not identified in the property details: 1. The very steep steps that access the property, which become slippery when wet - quite unsuitable for anyone with a disability 2. The 'reverse level' (bedroom downstairs) property is advertised as pet-friendly BUT the owners instructions state pets must NOT be allowed downstairs at any time - we would not have booked if the website had stated that fact.
