Lovely house well equipped and maintained In a great location Would suggest that the size of the parking space is highlighted owing to the enthusiasm of the traffic wardens It was difficult to park a large vehicle without over lapping onto the pavement Would certainly consider rebooking for another holiday

  • "We have stayed ar Shipwrights several times and rebooted again."

The property is very much a rental and is well equipped and perfect for larger families. It could definitely do with new bed mattresses and pillows. The main bedroom mattresses is incredibly soft and lumpy as are the pillows. Also, there is no airer for drying clothes when the English weather gets the better of us. Still really enjoyed our stay and like I said I've rebooted for next year.

We are glad that you enjoyed another stay at Shipwrights in spite of indifferent weather this time. We have promptly asked Coast & Country to inspect all the mattresses to see if any springs have gone which might explain any lumpiness. If that is the case then of course we shall replace and we shall also look at all the pillows. Good idea about an air dryer - we shall investigate options. A few additional upgrades are also planned for early summer. Property Owner

  • "The house was in a good location ,well equipped and nicely decorated."

It did have a parking space but for two families the need to keep finding parking in and around Salcombe is a nightmare. Not the owners fault but I do think all the owners could feed this back to the local authority!!!! Over a period of 30 years of visiting it has become progressively worse with permit holders only and double yellow lines and a much reduced Batson car park . We will return but will be looking for more parking space at a property unless the situation improves. Big thanks though for a lovely stay!!!!

Very glad you had a good stay. The house does certainly have a parking space which suits all but the very largest vehicles. Parking in Salcombe is indeed a challenge for a second vehicle. In winter Batson car park capacity is reduced due to half of it being a boat park and in summer the town is of course very busy everywhere. Our recommended solution is to pay £3/day and park at the top of Bonfire Hill in the Council's Park & Ride area. That is just a five minute walk to/from the house. We know that the Town Council is very aware of the car parking issue and we shall reflect your message to the Council members who we know are seeking to improve the situation for all. Property Owner

  • "Lovely house, great location."

For us with a family of 6 adults and a 3 year old there was plenty of room downstairs. We loved the kitchen diner and garden were fabulous and well equipped. Things that could use improvement were; The twin bedroom at the top of the house had no storage for clothes etc which was very inconvenient and we had to use the drawers in the bunk room and wardrobe in the main bedroom in the lower floor. The rope hand rail leading up to the top floor came apart at both ends in my hand which could have been serious but luckily wasn’t is was dangerous and requires immediate attention because this has obviously happened before. There were several signs of attempts to repair with black tape. The remote controls for the TV in the living room didn’t work and on further investigation we found corroded batteries in all 3. There were new batteries provided but not the right size. It would have been really nice to have had a welcome pack containing tea, biscuits and especially milk, just to give us time before heading to the supermarket. It’s a nice touch that we have appreciated in other holiday rentals and the welcome guide needs refreshing and updating, however the laminated instruction signs placed in strategic points were very helpful. Thank you it’s a nice house.

Thank you for your helpful comments. We are planning a winter overhaul to the house which will include replacing the rope handrails to the top floor with two oars as found on the stairway to the first floor. The top floor twin is small but your comment is acknowledged: we shall see if we can create an improved clothes storage space there. The TV actually only requires the larger control to operate it. The smaller control unit is for a now redundant DVD player (so that will explain the corroded batteries). We shall discuss with C&CC the options for including a welcome pack although we expressly ask the cleaners to leave tea bags and coffee available in the top cupboard by the oven and also to leave our quite extensive range of herbs and spices available to tenants with the request that they replace any that they finish. However the possible addition of milk and some biscuits is noted. The local Co-Op is just two hundred yards down the road and is usually open until 10 pm. Property Owner

It is in a great location and has everything you could wish for. We enjoyed the top floor bedrom. The garden is a delight. Only slight issue is parking on the drive with the slope and the high kerb. Having said that we only moved the car twice as we were blessed with great weather. Thank you.

  • "We had a wonderful time."

The house is well equipped (even though I always take my own knives and cooking basics) and we loved the open plan dining kitchen area. Sadly the weather wasn't too good so we were not able to make the most of the outside space. There is now a gate down the alleyway so it is safer for little ones. We managed to get a Golf plus on the drive parked on an angle so that was a bonus. Many thanks for a great stay.

So glad you had a lovely stay. Property Owner

  • "What a delightful stay!"

Even in April when it's a bit cooler, it always feels like summer in Salcombe. The property has a large convenient layout and is very well equipped. Estuary vies from the attic room and the garden is a sun trap. Co-op a 5 minute walk down the road. Everything you need on your doorstep and best of all you can see the stars at night, no light pollution and no passing traffic. I Would highly recommend.

Delighted you had a good stay. Many thanks for taking the trouble to provide the 'constructive feedback'. The baking trays are kept in the kitchen drawers with the saucepans and other kitchen utensils. All of the lights in the dining area work perfectly and have always done so; maybe it wasn't obvious where to switch them on. We only have one large green bin which is collected by the Council every Monday under a 'trade waste' weekly contract. If for some reason it is not collected then Coast & Country can report a missed collection to the Council and if necessary can arrange for the waste to be collected by a private contractor. We have promptly added a pizza cutter to the other kitchen utensils. Property Owner

Lovely and warm with all facilities. Would have appreciated a television in the kitchen/dining area. Also the back garden not secure for small children and or pets as previous reviewer mentioned. Wall is not very high with a side passage adjacent to this. Easy to step right into back garden. A side door leading off this passage would benefit from a bolt for extra security.

Very clean, every thing you need to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and and has all the equipment you might every want. Excellent location in Salcombe, only negative is the parking, the drive is small we have a Peugeot 208, it still hanged over the drive. Have to pay for parking in town We thought the TV in the lounge, was a smart TV so could access our Netflix and Amazon accounts, but its not connected to WIFI, there's a sky box and remote which doesn't work? Would absolute go again

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were really pleased to read that you found the property comfortable for your stay and that it provided you with everything you required. Thank you for bringing the parking situation to our attention. There is a car park nearby. Unfortunately, this proves busy in the summer. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. • "A lovely house to stay in a great place to holiday, well equipped, great location."

We feel relaxed after returning from a weeks holiday. Couple of things to note, car parking is not great, if you cannot fit your ‘small’ car in the front of the house the surrounding area in the street is either permit or double yellows, parking is then available about 5mins away, and payable - bit of a potch! At the back/side of the house there is a gully which is accessible and open to the garden, we had a couple of occasions where people used the gully and were practically in the garden, a bit worrying if you have children or a dog - would be great if a fence could be erected to make it more private/secure. Recycling in the area appears to be poor, everything in one bag, with bottle recycling down towards the car park.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay. We were only sorry to learn that you had some difficulty with the parking arrangements, the summer period proves busy here in Salcombe. Thank you for your comments regarding the garden, we have passed your concerns onto the owner and very much look forward to welcoming you back soon. The house was wonderful, in an excellent location. We especially loved the kitchen/dining room extending into the beautiful garden, which we made use of every day as we had amazing weather. The older kids loved the top floor bedrooms and bathroom, the master bedroom was airy and spacious, all of the beds were very comfortable. The only thing we thought it lacked was a downstairs toilet, but that certainly wouldn’t put us off booking again....it was quite possibly the best house we’ve stayed in over the years!

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review of Shipwrights. • "The pictures on the website do not do the property justice."

Lovely house with many home comforts, it is evident that the owners obviously go there themselves. Kitchen area with extension is particularly nice and bright and a good place for families to enjoy a long breakfast or lunch. Having said that, it would be good to have the wall lights repaired as they are not currently working. Stairs to upper floors are very steep, so care needs to be taken but you soon get used to this. As advertised, parking is for medium sized car only - it is no problem using the local car parks, although at busy times there can be a short delay finding a space, but again this is a minor issue. Thanks C&C once again for your assistance.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your kind review in respect of Shipwrights in Salcombe. We were delighted to hear that you had such a lovely time and that the weather was far better than expected. Your feedback regarding the property is noted greatly appreciated. We have now checked the wall lights and these are in working order. There is a sliding switch which works alongside the normal light switch, this acts as a dimmer. We hope to welcome you back to the Salcombe area very soon. Property Owner
