  • "Beautiful spot with fabulous views."

Quiet and relaxing. The bungalow had old fashioned decor but it was very clean and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable and it had everything we needed for our stay. Our dog was very welcome and he loved the garden. We had a great stay and would highly recommend a stay here. The area is just lovely and we found lots of places to walk, taking in the views.

  • "Nice and comfortable but maybe could do with a little bit of updating."

Walking from car park to property could be a problem for people with walking difficulties because of the slope and uneven ground.

Ideal location for visiting local Devon and Dorset resorts. Hope to book West Ridge Bungalow again next year.

  • "Internet only available if sitting in kitchen as WiFi is in next door owners property No sign of any recent PAT testing Sockets and light switches probably 40 years old which was slightly worrying."

The lovely Aga shown is not available to cook on Furniture very outdated , uncomfortable couch or single old armchairs to watch tv ( couch does not face tv) not very “romantic” Not a single carpet , all flooring is carpet tiles which is not very comfortable underfoot , especially in the bedroom. 2 mattresses joined together with 2 single duvets does not a double/kingsize bed make , nor does it add to the advertised “romance “ There is no washing machine in the property (Sykes listing says there is) it is in the owners house Towels need replacing , they are hard and rough. “Sky Tv “ is a bit misleading , free to air sky is only channel available . Stunning location with large garden and paddock to use at rear .( Garden not enclosed as gate on drive always open , just an observation ) Could not contact owner to let us in when we arrived as no key there , she was very friendly and helpful when she did arrive. It is worth noting that although the property is dog friendly , Seaton Beach is not , Seaton , Beer , Sidmouth and Lyme Regis all lovely places to visit Perfect location to explore from . We expected better , it was not a bargain price. There seemed to be notices everywhere , telling us not to do this or make sure we do that . If the heater in the bathroom is a potential fire hazard if left on , it should be removed ? This may sound very grumpy but is is not , just hugely disappointed …..

  • "The bungalow was quite spacious and very clean and it has great views at the front of Seaton in the distance ."

There is a large garden. However the bed was hard and I found it rather uncomfortable. The Wi-Fi only worked in the kitchen so a booster would be helpful. The furniture was adequate but very dated. If it was my place I would provide a few tea and coffee bags and a small carton of milk

  • "Slightly old fashioned furniture etc."

but appropriate to the age of the building. Great garden and paddock for our dog. Too far out from Seaton to walk but this wasn’t an issue. Entrance drive rather concealed so leaving in the car needed care. Overall good and would recommend.

Wonderful host, who is friendly and happy to help if needed . The annexe is very thoughtfully equipped with everything you could need during your stay and the expansive gardens and views are the best in the area . Stunning bay views at the front and gorgeous open countryside at the back . My dogs thought they were in paradise! Can't fault it!

  • "Enjoyed our stay but would recommend a double duvet on the double bed, NOT to single duvets."

Would also recommend new towels. The ones we had were well past their sell buy date. Unfortunately the wi fi does not extend to the lounge and was only available in the kitchen which joins the main property. Saying all that we would happily book this property again.

We're pleased that you enjoyed your stay and will pass on your comments for improvement to the property owner. The towels are new and of good quality. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Although beautiful location and lovely host the property itself needs a lot of TlC, it’s like stepping back into the 1970’s and the carpets decor and furniture all need updating."

It was very clean throughout but there is a horrible smell of mustiness you just can’t get rid of. Also the zipped together bed and single duvets means you are basically sleeping separately which wasn’t very nice for us. Unfortunately for these reasons we wouldn’t stay again or recommend. Although we complied in all our years of holidays the expectation that you have to strip your own bed linen is totally unheard of in our experience especially for the money we paid

Thank you for your comments. The owner takes great pride in the presentation of the bungalow and maintains high cleanliness standards. The bungalow was assessed by independent grading scheme earlier this year, and achieved a 3 tick rating without any major recommendations. We do ask guests to assist us with stripping the bed linen upon departure, if at all possible, but understand that some guests may not be willing to do this. As the owner lives next door, she is able to provide a warm welcome to guests, as well as suggestions on places to visit/eat during a stay. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Our stay was just perfect."

The view from the kitchen window was so uplifting as was the garden and paddock area. The dogs were able to roam free which both I and they loved. The owner was charming as were the local community especially those at the post office/general store and butcher and Colliford and Colyton are lovely villages away from the bustle of busy lives which is just what we needed.

  • "It was billed on your website many times as romantic, and it could hardly have been less so: the sofa, such as it was, was not opposite the television, just two wing chairs; the beds, though pushed together, had single duvets, not a double/kingsize, so no romance there, then, except in high summer."

The place was nice, set up for an elderly couple like us, with spectacular views and nice and engaged landlords, so it was a nice stay, but your website oversold the romance bit something chronic. It would have been a five-star rating if you hadn't. The wifi did not work in the sitting room, but it worked fine in the kitchen where the signal didn't have to go through a former exterior wall; there ought to be room boosters to enable use in the sitting room. Maybe there will be. The instructions for the TV were out of date, so we were puzzled, but it was all sorted out fast while we were there, and clear instructions left for us and future users. A folding card table would be nice for the sitting room, as anything needing a table (eg jigsaws on rainy days) had to be done in the kitchen. (We brought our own board to move it off for meals). There were plenty of holiday-style books, and useful maps. To be recommended as a good place to stay for people who are comfortable with each other. And the views really are gorgeous day-long, with beautiful large windows and clear panes for maximum pleasure.

From its elevated situation it commands beautiful and extensive views of the Axe Valley and Estuary and the sea itself. Attached to the owner's main residence, the accommodation comprises a main bedroom (with a Super king-size bed, which can, if preferred, be separated into two single beds); a lounge and a large kitchen/living-room and there is also a shower room with separate toilet. There is a large garden with a paddock/orchard to the rear.

This part of the garden looks to the North over lovely rolling Devon countryside - a particularly attractive and peaceful area.

There is an ample supply of garden furniture and level access from the driveway to the entrance of the bungalow. A variety of shops, pubs and restaurants in this small Devon town are within a few minutes drive.

Explore the stunning Axe Estuary and Wetlands, abundant with bird and wildlife, or why not visit the unique Seaton Tramway.

The mile long beach is perfect for watersports with sailing, windsurfing and paddle-boarding permanent features in the bay.

The picturesque fishing village of Beer, just a five minutes drive, is host to the famous Pecorama and Quarry Caves and self-drive motor boats can be hired from the beach.
