  • "The apartment is clean, however, the animal hides need to be removed and the sofa and bed are uncomfortable!"

The Hot tub shown in pictures is misleading believing it's part of the apartment it is a short walk away from the property and could be shared by others!! We were disturbed on the final night by music playing throughout the early hours we called the host at 3.30am to complain...

  • "It was very nice and overall not at all dissapointed."

Value for money. Excellent central location for visiting all areas of Devon. Wonderful and affable hosts. Access signage could be better. Hedge clearance (especially emerging onto Station road) would help access and parking could be improved. There's work in progress so maybe we are being picky. On the whole a nice quirky property that served us well. Just a few tweaks to the access would make all the difference.

  • "Fantastic weekend away."

Friendly welcome from Yvette, no fuss, straight forward introduction to the beautiful property and what it has to offer. Very clean and everything looks just like the photos. Canadian hot tub is real touch. Very helpful list emailed by Yvette suggesting local pubs, restaurants, bicycle hire etc. We got lucky with the 3 days of stunning sunshine, which really made it a weekend away to remember. We shall return.

  • "Wonderful stay at Lily Pad, which is a really romantic place to stay."

Loved the décor and facilities (especially the hot tub) and the owners were always on hand to help. Okehampton has a really lovely park and great amenities for a small town e.g. cinema, great fish & chip shop (Graylings), pubs etc. We could walk to the nearby railway station (recently reopened after 50 years and looking like a preserved railway) to have a fantastic cooked breakfast.

everything you need, space, secluded but still near shops, pubs and people, beautiful cedar wood hot tub and lovely host. would 100% recommend this beautiful house.

  • "Fantastic little cottage."

It was perfect for what we needed. A little break on the edge of a little town. If you’re feeling fit then the walk into oakhampton is ok. The walk back. May need a little extra energy. The cottage was clean and tidy. We loved the quirky feel with the wall paintings. It had everything we needed.

  • "Hidden paradise in the forest."

Despite being in Okehampton (10 min walk from center and pubs) you feel totally in the forest, there is an old mansion, few cottages, a yurt and a tree house. We stayed in the cottage and it was full of character, with an old fireplace and attention to detail in the decoration by Yvette. It feels warms and comfortable, all equipped kitchen, modern bathroom with plenty of hot water, comfy bed in immaculate bedroom. Yvette was very welcoming and gave us a lot of advices on the best pubs and the moors. It’s a fantastic location to explore Dartmoor national park and we did great hikes around the torrs and it has the conveniency of a small town with pubs and lovely Georgian shopping arcades. The Canadian hot tub was great to relax and warm up after a day hiking and you feel in the middle of nature, we loved it. Overall a marvelous retreat for a city break and getting closer to nature.

The property

Lily Pad is a charming one-bedroom romantic retreat for two, all on the ground floor and being part of a substantial Victorian house, which is tucked away down a leafy drive on the very edge of Okehampton.

Close by is Okehampton Station which reopened in November 2021, after being shut for nearly 50 years, offering passengers a two-hourly service to and from Exeter. Lily Pad is also only a 5-minute walk to the Route 27 cycleway, and so this stylish apartment is likely to appeal particularly to walkers and cyclists. After parking up in your own marked space, enter the garden and follow the pathway to the French doors.

Prepare to be impressed as you step into the large airy living room which is stylish, colourful and filled with bold artwork and green plants.

There are antique furnishings, and the room is warmed by subtle lighting and a wood burning effect electric stove. Through an archway opening is the compact but fully equipped kitchen, ideal for preparing those romantic meals for two, and a well-designed shower room in keeping with the Victorian style and charm of the building.

Beyond is the chic bedroom with comfy double bed and doors leading out to a small private courtyard space, complete with bistro table and chairs so you can enjoy your favourite drink and chat away into the night.

If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic abode, head into Okehampton for a choice of pubs, including The Fountain, serving home-cooked meals, The Kings Arms for live music and The London Inn to watch your favourite sports.

Just beyond the train station, you can hire a bike and explore this charming market town on wheels!

Or maybe cycle or walk the Granite Way track to Lydford 11 miles away, which has a castle and very welcoming pub.

Those looking to get their steps in will have no trouble while exploring the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, which you can be done either on foot or horseback, and the owners can provide riding gear if you do wish to ride.

Visit the pretty little moorland village of Belstone, where you can enjoy a Devon cream tea and wander onto Dartmoor for a spot of outdoor swimming in the many natural pools including Meldon Quarry.

Further afield you have Roadford reservoir with a multitude of water sport activities and fishing opportunities.

Being situated in central Devon, Okehampton is ideally placed for exploring both North and South coasts, pretty unspoilt villages and some fascinating National Trust sites such as Cotehele, Saltram and Buckland Abbey.

Lily pad is at the heart of it all a delightful cottage that offers all visitors a chance to relax.

Note: This accommodation can be booked with Refs. 1135457 and 1135458 and 1135459, together sleeping eight guests.

Offering the perfect balance between seclusion and convenience, Honeyside Down provides a truly unique break for couples looking to spend some time in Devon. Within the site there is a communal car park and three of the dwellings have access to an open-use Cedar wood hot tub nestled under a large oak tree. Within a short walk lies Okehampton Station, offering hourly services to Exeter and further services to the whole of Devon, whilst a similar distance away lies the Granite Way cycle path and Route 27 cycleway, two stunning trails running through Devon’s wonderfully green and verdant countryside. Head into Okehampton and expect to find a range of shops, eateries and pubs, as well as a charming Victorian shopping arcade, a museum and a park for picnics.
