  • "Whilst we all had an enjoyable stay at the property which catered for all of our adult family needs."

However I would reiterate the complaint posted online by a previous user in August 2024 the property was not totally cleaned and the shower areas were grubby and dirty with evidence of black mould in the first floor shower area. Also i noted there was dust and dirt/grime adjacent washing machine on skirting and floor, in the main bedroom there was thick dust behind bedside cabinets which became evident whilst accessing the plug sockets. I raised the issue of cleanliness as posted by previous user a week prior to our visit and was assured this had been addressed and that special attention would be made prior to our visit to ensure it had been resolved. Clearly you have a problem with cleaning and management of your properties as this is the second time I have had occasion to complain of cleanliness, the first being when we visited Weymouth two years ago. I am unsure about future holiday bookings with Sykes or your associated companies.

Dear Mr Boulton firstly please accept apologies for the delayed response and secondly I’m sorry that the cleaning was not up to expectations. I agree that it is unacceptable and have been in conversation with the cleaning management team to address the issues you raised. Thank you for bringing them to our attention so that we can rectify them. I am pleased you were still able to have a good break away despite these issues. Thank you. Property Owner

House is shabby, was not clean and that was our first task to clean thoroughly especially ensuite which was full of mould. This was essential due to one member having leukaemia so cleanliness important. House itself would be lovely but it is uncared for. Neighbours lovely too. We won't return. No midweek linen nor towels despite arranging earlier with your company so we had to wash towels etc. Unsatisfactory experience.

Thank you Paul for your comments and I’m sorry the cleanliness was below expectations. We have spoken to the cleaning team to address your concerns as it is unacceptable. I understand you had communication with Dreams regarding the linen changeover but washed them yourselves before it was delivered. I’m sorry you felt the the house was shabby as we do repaint rooms each year but Gabrianne has had a busy season this year. Thank you. Property Owner

The beach was 4 minutes drive and it was a lovely beach, went there a lot including the evenings. The beach is national trust so if you are a member you park for free otherwise it’s £10 for the day. The property was in a quite close and a couple of minutes walk to the village

Thank you so much for this review. We’re so pleased you enjoyed the house and the fantastic village and beach. We have tried hard to provide for the children, glad you could make use of it all! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Property Owner

  • "The location was great but the property was rather shabby old and tired."

It was quite disappointing. The kitchen was not very well equipped no kitchen utensils and no cork screw. The baking trays in the drawer were a disgrace. Very expensive for poor quality.

Dear guest We are sorry to read your review regarding Gabrianne. After speaking with you we understand that you had not located the utensil drawer, which was explained in the guest handbook, but we have now added a sign on the kitchen wall. We have replaced the baking trays, thank you for bringing that to our attention. We do encourage all our customers to get in touch with Dreams during their stay, if something is not to their satisfaction so that we can try to address it promptly. We hope that you still managed to enjoy your holiday. Property Owner

  • "Great house and ideally located."

If I was being picky I would say you need to supply a tin opener, bottle opener, wooden spoon and fish slice essentials when cooking ! Other than stresses on the first day (unable to open food we had bought) we had a great time. Having 3 showers in such a big house was a godsend and stopped any squabbles. Car parking was adequate, the beds were comfy. 2 fantastic pubs in walking distance and west bay a 15 minute walk away. Would revisit and highly recommend

Thankyou for your valuable feedback, we are pleased you had a great time. Apologies you were unable to find the utensil drawer which is in the large drawer above the pans underneath the hob. We hope to welcome you back to Dorset again soon. Property Owner

  • "The house is spacious, very well equipped and comfortable."

The only negatives were the size of the freezer - check this out before doing your first shop, and the shower in the main bedroom. If you use the lower shower head make sure you take it off the holder otherwise the water goes under the shower cubicle and floods the area under the wash basin. Other than that the house is everything you could want for a lovely holiday. We visited Nothe Fort, Portland Castle, the Tropical Gardens at Abbotsbury, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, West Bay and Hive Beach. The cafe at Hive Beach is a little pricey but well worth the visit. All in all we had a great holiday and we would recommend this holiday home which could cater for two families of four or four to six adults.

The only aspect we would raise is seating in the living room. We had 4 adults and a child. It is short of one/two comfortable seats. Aside from the big single seats, the others are not particularly comfortable.

  • "Lovely, comfortable, welcoming house in a pretty village, walkable distance to the beach."

There were plenty of kitchen and dining supplies for a large number of guests, although perhaps another large lidded pan would be a good idea (we brought one of our own but it wouldn't work with the induction hob). We especially enjoyed the garden, and the thoughtful touches like the books, toys, and games for the children. Thank you.

The garden was our highlight our dog loved it. The only request would be more hangers as if we were using each room there was no where near enough. I would also suggest more Tupperware boxes as these are good if you want to take snacks to the beach.

  • "The property is in a great location."

However. On arrival there are a raft of minor issues - it was generally quite dirty and dusty and the furniture was in need of some TLC. The sofa was so worn out it had humped in the middle, the tiles in one bathroom were cracked, the en suite was mouldy in the shower and the shower itself was stuck on very hot to the point where it could quite easily burn if you weren’t expecting it. To top it all off, the TV didn’t work on arrival and a replacement was not offered until the day before leaving. I don’t think the property was particularly good value for money despite its good location and is in dire need of an update.

Thank you for your feedback regarding Gabrianne and I'm sorry that you felt the need to raise these issues especially as the housekeeping team take pride in ensuring our properties are cleaned to a high standard but on this occasion it did not meet with expectation. In terms of the TV I understand a member of the team visited immediately after you contacted them to advise it was faulty and suggested bringing a replacement later in the week if you wanted it, they understood you did not need it but re-offered it anyway. I'm sorry you felt the need to raise it as a complaint. It is unfortunate that you did not raise these other concerns about the house at the time as the team could have addressed some of them during your stay, as per the Dream Cottages contract. Thank you for raising the hot water issue, this will be addressed at the end of the season along with general maintenance and any upgrades required. Property Owner

There is a very large fridge and two small freezers. The lounge, dining room and conservatory are spacious and allowed quiet or noisy spaces for 8 guests to do their own thing when it rained. The garden was great for grandchildren and dog to play, while to the adults sat in comfort at the garden table enjoying the view of the field behind the house. • "Gabrianne is a pleasant holiday let which we found to be spacious, clean and well equipped."

Pretty much your standard holiday let we’d say. It’s well located for exploring the area and has a couple of decent pubs a short walk away. We only used the two double bedrooms one of which was of was of adequate size but the smaller one was a tighter squeeze. The beds were very comfortable. The twin beds and bunk beds were not used so can’t comment on them. We did note though that two of the rooms lacked adequate facilities for hanging clothes which would be a helpful improvement. The kitchen was fitted with modern units and appliances with plenty storage space for groceries. There was lots of cutlery, crockery and ovenware (although one or two oven trays could do with replacing as they were a bit tatty). A huge fridge and a separate small freezer (but perfectly adequate for most holiday needs we thought). The conservatory is a pleasant place and which we used in the main. Had the weather been cooler then the lounge would also have been a comfortable space. The dining room (open plan to the lounge) with a good sized table was also up to the job. There was plenty of information available about the local area and a good library of maps which we made use of. There’s also enough entertainment technology to suit most needs. The rear garden is a good size and private with open fields beyond. However, given Dorset is one of the prettiest parts of the country, it does lack some real TLC. It’s pretty much just a ‘clover’ lawn with a few bedraggled plants hither and thither. With just a little more care to make it a more attractive area it could be a huge asset to the property! It probably suits families with children or dog owners as it wouldn’t suffer too much damage though so maybe that’s the reason? We had a problem with the cold water supply to the bathrooms and previous occupiers had also commented on this. The water was literally just ‘dripping’ out of the upstairs taps when we arrived. Dream Cottages arranged for a plumber to attend, which he did, but in the meantime we discovered the cold water feed from the cold tank in the loft had been turned off. When turned on the cold water flow was sufficient and perfectly acceptable but it is not direct from the mains (as it is in the kitchen) and also not potable (only the kitchen is potable). We’d suggest this should be pointed out in the information file for the house. Overall, a good holiday let. Thank you.

In a good location not far from the beach for fossils if you like those. Close enough to Bridport especially if you need a decent electric vehicle rapid charger. Easy parking for 2 cars and a nice conservatory with a fenced off back garden. Would recommend changing the log burner for an electric one so that guests can use it, would have liked a bigger freezer as a bit restricted for 7 people and could do with another sofa in the lounge as we had to use a chair from the conservatory. But overall we had a very nice break.

  • "The location of the house is ideal for visiting to Dorset coastline and the village on Burton Bradstock is idyllic."

Sadly the house was not suitable for two families and it was very disappointing to find on arrival the bins were full up, the grass had not been cut and the house could have done with a good dusting and hoover of cobwebs. There was also no toaster in the kitchen on arrival. After phoning Sykes one was delivered the next day. The property is advertised to have a tumble dryer which it does not have. I would also recommend larger chest of drawers are added to the bedrooms and a wardrobe to the main bedroom.

I have sent a separate email as no knives or spatulars or spoons. We only cooked twice. There is no toaster , the doorbell didn’t work and the hoover did not work properly. There is also no wardrobe in the main bedroom. Lovely view at the back and a lovely lady made us welcome with a list of things to do. I would suggest you take off the wood fire as you aren’t allowed to use it and would benefit from a list of games etc , hairdryer etc. I brought lots of things down which were already there. Overall a lovely place to stay but i feel very pricy due to covid.

  • "Just a couple of notes of feedback: we arrived with a tub of ice cream for the children and a bag of ice for drinks, all of which had to be wasted because there wasn’t a freezer, or even a freezer compartment in the fridge."

It might be worth addressing that, or at least making it very clear in the notes that there is no freezer compartment, as you’d always expect one. A smaller point of feedback is that there are no mirrors (and not many plug points) in the bedrooms. Making it much clearer that the log burner is not for guest use might be useful too, as people booking in colder weather might specifically choose the property because it had one (we do that in colder months). Otherwise the property was great: super clean, well equipped, a nice layout, a fab enclosed garden for children and pets, and we were blown away by the location - you should make more mention of that on the particulars as being walking distance to a good beach, places to eat, a lovely gastropub, walks / fields, a park, a river for the children etc... we couldn’t have asked for more!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your stay at Gabrianne. We're glad to see that you enjoyed the property and that the location was so well suited for you and your family. Following your feedback I can confirm that the Owner has put a counter-top freezer into the property. We hope to welcome you back to Dorset in the future. Property Owner
