  • "Overall, the property was well maintained and generally clean although there was evidence of dust and cobwebs in places."

The heating was not easy to control and although the cottage felt aired and the weather was thankfully mild we did use the log burner each night which added greatly to the cost of the holiday. The heater in the main bedroom did not work. The seating in the living area was very uncomfortable and probably needs updating. The garden was a little overgrown. It was disappointing that no facilities for recycling were provided in the cottage so we used the local recycling centre for plastic and glass. Whilst we did not use the starter pack for the log burner (having provided our own) it was disappointing to see instructions requiring visitors to replace this if used.

  • "The cottage location is perfect and the view is absolutely the selling point of it."

Our only gripe really was the very uncomfortable bed, it really could do with an upgrade as could the vacuum which struggled to pick anything up. Other than those items the cottage was quaint and had all amenities on hand.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay the location was perfect for dog walking ."

We found the footpaths and could get to the beach without walking on the lane. The cottage was comfortable and our dog enjoyed the safe and sunny garden. We ate at the Epe Country Hotel and the pub just minutes away so no need to drive. We would definitely stay here again as we found it very relaxing.

  • "Stunning little cottage."

Absolutely loved our stay here and would recommend it to anybody. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Super cosy and the garden is great bonus, perfect for sunbathing and watching the birds. Some lovely walks right on the doorstep; Thorncombe beacon (can be seen from the garden) is short, steep but very rewarding, amazing views! Also had a few days walking to westbay, then carried on along beneath the cliff. Plenty of really good eating and drinking places locally. Rise for breakfast and the Watchhouse for amazing seafood both in Westbay. Lyme bay and the Pilot in Lyme Regis were also lovely for lunches. Felicity's farm shop has some great local produce to enjoy back at the cottage. Luckily only had one day of rain, which was spent having a nose around Bridport (markets on Wednesday and Saturday). Thank you for our stay, we look forward to coming back some time in the future

  • "We had a lovely week, thank you."

A cosy, well-appointed base from which to explore the area. We even got to sit in the garden a couple of times, which given the weather so far this year, was a proper treat!

So glad you enjoyed your time - hope to see you again! Property Owner

  • "The cottage was warm and comfortable."

The selection of walks from the door amazing. For rainy days there are visits to Lyme Regis, Bridport, the Hive cafe, all great. We really enjoyed our short break.

Really glad you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and the wonderful local walks! Really pleased you had fun in Bridport and Lyme Regis too - great places to wander… Thanks for the great comments. Property Owner

  • "The location and cleanliness were top marks."

The size of the property space was not, there was very little room to move around, and the bathroom being located literally at the top of the stairs we believe to be a health and safety risk. The headroom by the microwave was inadequate for an average height adult, and the sofa past its best for comfort. I would advertise it going forward as not suitable for over 60's. PS: the TV was frustrating to operate.

The cottage is very old and admittedly the upstairs hallway is quite narrow but that how it was built and part of its rustic charm? There is plenty of space to move around as illustrated in the photos so I’m afraid I really don’t understand this comment? The sofa was recently replaced and is leather with brand new cushions so I am disappointed that you feel it’s past it’s best…. We have moved the microwave to opposite side of the kitchen but nobody has ever mentioned headroom being a problem before. As for saying the cottage is not suitable for anyone over 60 - I find this to be incredibly ageist! Many of out guests are regular walkers and in their 70’s and very much enjoyed their stay so I simply cannot agree with your comment. I welcome your feedback however and hope you enjoyed your time in the beautiful Dorset countryside. We have uploaded more pictures of the property so people can clearly see the layout of the cottage and judge for themselves. Property Owner

About the location

EYPE

Bridport 1.8 miles; Lyme Regis 9.6 miles; Seaton 18.4 miles.

Eype sits on one of the most dramatic sections of the Jurassic Coastline, and famously features one of ITV’s series Broadchurch’s most iconic locations. We’ll leave you guessing as to which one until you visit. The beach at Eype is a steeply shelving pebble beach that is dog friendly all year round and just 3 miles from Bridport and 4 from West Bay, where many other Broadchurch locations can be viewed, as well enjoying local fish and chips on the harbour side and ice creams on the sea front. Bridport offers all the high street amenities you will need along with a much-coveted antiques and collectables market. Golden Cap, the highest point in Dorset, sits on the South West Coast path and is just 4 miles from Eype, although it’s the highest point there are moderate routes to walk to the top, where spectacular far reaching views along the coast will be your reward.
