  • "We have just returned from our 3rd visit to this fabulous property."

It is very clean & comfortable. The garden is a little sun trap with nice garden furniture & fully enclosed, ideal for our little dog. The property is within walking distance to 3 pubs all serving nice food if you don’t want to venture far.Plenty of buses to nearby Weymouth,Lulworth coast & the other surrounding holiday destinations . Would highly recommend this property.

We texted the owner who was apologetic and said she had dismissed the cleaner and left a bottle of wine for us, however we would have preferred a clean property to start with.

  • "Only comment was we booked 4 adults, as there were 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms."

The presumption was we were 2 couples, which we were not (1 couple and single friends). 1 of out party could not make it in the end, which was fortunate as the property was made up for 2 couples, so 1 bedroom had no linen on the beds and none to use that we could find. This would have been a problem if all 4 of us had visited.

Hi… I’m so pleased you had a lovely week… it’s such a gorgeous village isn’t it. Oh I’m so sorry you didn’t see the tea towels. • "A great stay!"

We loved the house and it had lots of things not listed to make your stay more comfortable. Pros: great location close to Bowleaze Cove, quiet, modern, great space, brilliant garden for dogs and children, tidy, quick drive to Weymouth, great pubs locally, great walks and runs, owner was friendly and always available via mobile. Cons: take your own bottled water as you cannot drink the tap water, the chair in the top floor bedroom needs to go!, yes there is limited cupboard space but it’s not really a con if I’m honest, limited bin space - the waste bin outside was almost full from the previous occupants which made it slightly difficult for us. However, these aren’t deal breakers in terms of cons just observations. Really worth the money! We look forward to staying again

  • "We had a lovely stay."

What would have made it even better would have been a dressing table with a mirror so that I could dry my hair and put my makeup on. There is a mirror in the master bedroom but not next to a plug. Also we were not aware that dogs are not allowed upstairs, this was a problem as our dog sleeps on the floor next to our bed so we weren’t happy to leave him downstairs in a strange house. Like other reviews there are no empty cupboards in the kitchen to put food in so we had to put it on the kitchen table which looked untidy. On a positive the house was clean, warm, welcoming and there was lots of information in the books. The garden was perfect for our dog especially as we have artificial grass at home. Great location for walking down to the sea, the shop and the pub.

Hi Zoe. I am sorry you were not aware that dogs are not allowed upstairs. This is in Sykes cottages terms and conditions and applies to all properties across the board. I will look into a dressing table. Thank you for your feedback and thank you for your note saying you had really enjoyed your stay. Just to say I have ordered a dressing table and free standing storage unit for the kitchen. Thank you for pointing this out :) Rachel. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful week in Rachel's lovely property, the pictures don't do it justice."

The village is absolutely idyllic and there's so many beautiful walks right on your doorstep. The garden is really Houdini dog secure which is really hard to find, it meant we could relax knowing our dog was safe and secure. The only reason I've marked accuracy of the listing down slightly is that the listing doesn't reflect all of the facilities available i.e. there's an iron/ironing board, hoover, hair dryer all of which we needed but weren't listed. This would be really helpful for future customers to know in advance so I hope this is helpful feedback. There's lot's of local facilities all within walking distance, 3 x great pubs, 2 x mini markets & 2 x fish and chip shops and a lovely cafe (Oasis) right on the beach in Bowleaze Cove which is a 30 minute walk through the Haven holiday camp so all off road. We loved it and will definitely be back. Thanks Rachel.

It is very well appointed, warm and comfortable. We loved the woodburner, the large kitchen diner, and the attic room. A couple of details would make it even better. There was an unpleasant smell from the left hand drain in the kitchen sink, and the French doors and handles were full of marks(probably from dogs). The armchair in the attic room should be replaced. Overall, we loved it, and will probably come back.

Have not long arrived home after a 9 hour drive back to Scotland. Stayed at the property for 2 weeks. The house was lovely and comfortable. Lovely totally enclosed garden for dogs. It is in an ideal position for ease into Weymouth and also for a base for touring. The owner was lovely, not intrusive, but there if required. Requested a hoover and dropped off an hour later. We are already planning to rebook for next year as enjoyed it so much. Sutton Poyntz is a gorgeous wee village, you feel rural but very close to all amenities. Very quiet neighbourhood, all very friendly. To sum up, have been coming to Weymouth since 1996. Always stayed in Caravans, park no longer suited our needs but this house did. Cant wait to come back.

The local village has good pubs and a good couple of shops. The property is in good condition, although could do with a little more cleaning. In example, we moved the living room rug so our toddler wouldn’t trip during the stay and there was a lot of dog hair in the carpet underneath. Also, lots of dust on top of the waterfall shower. Would have happily run the hoover over, but there isn’t one in the property. These were small issues in an otherwise wonderful stay.

A beautiful house in a great location. We loved visiting The Bridge Inn and The Spring Head for meals but we definitely had to book as they were both very busy. We used the bus for most of our trips out and it was well worth buying a weekly group ticket for £40 which was for up to 5 people. The Jurassic Coaster stops at The Spice Ship on the main road and is great for exploring and not worrying about parking. Still lots we would like to see and do so we will definitely be back.

  • "The cottage was lovely, modern, and very comfortable."

We all were very pleased with the accommodation, including my teenage children. The seating in the living room was clean and comfortable and it didn't feel or smell like there had been other dogs in the cottage. The kitchen was nice and cool for our dog, even though it was very hot outside. The bedrooms were very spacious and the beds were very comfortable, although my daughter said that the one single bed was more comfortable than the other. The bedroom in the attic got very warm in the night though, warmer than the other bedrooms and it was a very hot week that we stayed. The garden had the sun for most of the day with areas of shade and it was safe for our dog to go out in the garden, without possibility of escaping. The nearby village (Sutton Poyntz, just a couple minutes walk) is the most beautiful village I have ever seen. Most of the houses in the village are made of a type of Cotswold stone, all were very attractive and there was a pretty shallow pond in the middle of the village, that my dog liked the paddle in. Everyone in the surrounding area of the cottage seemed very friendly and polite, which made us feel very welcome. There are many different walks leading from the cottage. We were able to take a different walk in the country every day with our dog. There are also 3 nice looking pubs close by. The cottage was just a few miles away from the beach. We hope to come back to this cottage and see the village again one day. This was my dream holiday and location! Thank you.
