  • "We had a lovely stay at the cottage which was really clean, tidy, well equipped and very comfortable."

We went in October so parking was not too much of a problem but I should think in the height of the season that could become very difficult what with the street being so narrow.

Thank you for your kind review. I’m glad you had a comfortable stay. Property Owner

  • "Another fab stay."

We love the cottage. It's cosy and comfortable and in an ideal location for us. We like to be able to wander down to the quayside or further afield head up to Durlston. We also love to venture over to the beaches on Studland and of Course Corfe Castle is nearby too. We've already booked future visits. Thank you for making the cottage so special.

  • "The property was clean and tidy."

The beds were very comfortable and lovely quilts and linen. Lounge comfortable for 3 but no real 4th seat if 4 adults do stay. Kitchen was fully equipped. Bathroom very adequate. Just one thing the garden was ok but there were so many snails over everything in the garden.

Thank you for your review - I’m glad you enjoyed the property. Your comments are appreciated and help maintain and improve for the future. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "The publicity for this property was very misleading."

The photos give the impression of a light and airy interior whereas, apart from the kitchen which was well lit, the living room was dim and gloomy and cluttered with, presumably the owner's accumulated belongings. Also the description did not make clear that the stairs were narrow and steep which would make life difficult for anyone with impaired mobility - particularly since the two loos were upstairs. I am 87 and stayed heremost of the time alone, so that it was lucky that I could still climb the stairs - but not do things like, for example, carry my suitcase up to the bedroom.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. I’m sorry that you did not find the property to your taste - I’ve checked and the photos seem to me to accurately reflect the interior. I will ask the company to describe the loos as ‘upstairs’ - though I’m sorry also that you found the stairs steep and narrow - I believe they are standard width and dimensions. Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely week staying at Quarrier’s Rest."

The cottage was lovely and clean on arrival and the cottage had everything we needed - a home from home. The cottage is well located with just a short walk into Swanage. We found parking around the cottage busy, however we never had any issues to park when returning from day trips. We love Swanage and would definitely stay again! A great holiday cottage with all that you need.

  • "Overall the cottage was fine ."

In the online description it said cloakroom,in my book a cloakroom is downstairs this one was on the landing next to the bathroom,I thought it was a bit misleading one of the reasons I booked this cottage was because of having to go upstairs for the loo was a problem when you have to go quickly. The outside area was dirty , varnish peeling off the bench the table was broken and wobbly and the chairs very uncomfortable. All things considered we would not book this cottage again.

Thank you for your review. I have asked the company to describe the bathrooms as ‘upstairs’ to help future guests. I’ve checked the garden table and chairs - yes - they’ve suffered a lot of use around the bbq and al fresco dining - but as far as I could tell they are not broken. I will refresh their varnish this winter - ready for next year. Thank you Property Owner

  • "Overall a lovely property with good facilities."

We were able to walk to the town and beach. However the bathroom toilet had not been cleaned at the back properly and was gross. Also the property slept four people but only had three comfy chairs. We put the rubbish out for collection as instructed to find animals had strewn it all over the road in the night, so we had to go out and sweep it all up. A local person was telling us of canvas bags some residents used as apparently this is a common problem.

Thank you for your review. Apologies for your unhappiness about the bathroom - the cleaners do a fantastic job - but maybe missed this one. I’m sorry you had a problem with the rubbish - thank you for putting it out, but badgers/foxes etc are an ongoing problem. I’m now encouraging guests to put the rubbish out before 9:00 on Thursday mornings. Property Owner

  • "House well equipped and comfortable but area noisy, barking dogs, screaming children and house close by being renovated."

When refuse bags was put out the night before as instructed it was torn open by foxes and gulls and scattered along the street which we then had to clear up the next morning .

Thank you for your review. Apologies for the noise in the neighbourhood. I’m afraid I think you were unlucky - I’ve stayed many times and not noticed any similar noise problem (the hooting and whooshing of Swanage steam train and seagulls are the usual noise :) ). Apologies again. Yes - the foxes and badgers are a problem and I’m encouraging guests to put the rubbish out on Thursday mornings now. Property Owner

Downstairs, the sofa is and chair are very comfortable and the equipment in the kitchen is of a very good standard and is very well equipped. Even a Weber barbecue on the back garden. The garden is fully enclosed and dog secure. Upstairs, the beds are very comfortable with a good amount of space in the rooms. The bathroom is especially nice, very spacious with a corner bath and a very large separate shower. Ours was a very enjoyable stay, we would definitely stay here again.

Spotlessly clean, comfortable, lovely calm colours. Parking was a bit of an issue, but we managed - cheering when we grabbed a spot outside the house on the last night! Oh and there was no milk pan so scrambled eggs took three days to clean the pan!!

Thanks so much for your feedback - you were my first guests - so I’m really pleased you liked the property and were comfortable and had a relaxing time. Yes - nonstick milk pan is on my list - good suggestion - and thanks for working so hard to clean up. Property Owner

About the location

SWANAGE

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.
