  • "Had a lovely week, the weather helped."

Everything we needed was provided for in number 5. The boathouse cafe next door was very good for food. Not very close to any other amenities. Fort Victoria was brilliant for walking the dog just a few minutes away .

John always gives a warm welcome & is on hand if there are any issues. We have always found it clean and tidy and it offers home from comforts - everything you need. The location is stunning and year after year we return, beautiful sunsets, cafe next door, woodland walks and close to swimming beaches. 100% recommended.

The Boathouse was great location and loved walking into Yarmouth. Only negative which was nothing to do with John, was people staying in other boathouses let their dogs roam freely and then shouted at them come back! We will return if ever come back to Isle of Wight xx

  • "The Appartment smelt strongly of dogs from the carpet and the suite, also dog hair on carpet."

We sat on the camping chairs we had taken with us. Bitten by mosquitoes from stagnat water next to the sceptic tank. The position of apartment was good, the cafe next to the apartments was good, lovely staff.

  • "Check in and check out needs better instruction."

Shower not very powerful and drains away slowly. Toilet seat loose. Welcome pack needs updating. No details on things to do and see. Strong smell of dogs and lots of dog hair in carpets. Description needs updating to state WiFi is included. The above did not detract from a lovely stay in a fabulous location. The location to walks was excellent and the adjoining cafe offered a great range of food and friendly service. The sunrises and sunsets were an added bonus.

  • "We had a lovely stay at No 5."

The accommodation was clean and comfortable and perfectly located with lovely walks straight from the doorstep. It would have been even better if there had been some outdoor furniture on the decking so that we could have eaten outside, but in all honesty we weren’t expecting there to be any, it is just that it was such a lovely spot we wanted to make the most of it. The local area was also great - a short walk to Yarmouth, and a swimming beach just along the coast. We’d certainly return if we have the chance - thank you!

In dire need of updating especially the bathroom. Very grubby and damp. Also towels were said to be provided but were not. We would definitely not recommend this cottage.

.We weren't sure if it was because of the location of the property though .The toilet blocked twice during the week we were there despite us being really careful . Neither of the above issues have put us off wanting to go again however as the location is fantastic and our dog was in heaven .She is now sulking as she is back to the boring garden .We definitely want to go again and if the shower was a bit more powerful then that would be a very welcome bonus .

  • "The cottage was in a great location - as mentioned in lots of other feedback, and the facilities were adequate."

We did have a few problems with the tv - no reception at all on the first night, but ok after that. Everything else was really good - the sofas and furniture maybe looked a bit tired and dated, but this did not affect our enjoyment of our holiday. The beds were comfortable and we slept very well. The shower was basic but functional - we were not expecting a power shower, nor should anyone else! Overall we would recommend staying these cottages, especially if you have a dog and want easy access to the beach and the coastal walks.

The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings to Lymington. Yarmouth’s narrow streets are home to an attractive array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIII’s castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling (and a cycle hire shop) and walking to be had along the coastal path. Why not take an energetic stroll at the nearby Tennyson Down and Headon Warren. Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, with Colwell Bay with its sandy beach and amenities for the family 7 minutes away by car. Yarmouth's pier and sailing club jetty is another good spot for crabbing. Four miles away is Compton Bay, famous for dinosaur remains; head there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet.
