  • "Beautiful cottage in a nice quiet setting."

Our dogs enjoyed playing in the secure garden. The welcome pack was exceptional & much appreciated. Cottage located perfectly to enjoy Rye & Hastings. Lots of dog friendly pubs around serving excellent food at a reasonable price. We hope to visit again in the future.

Well maintained property, clean and with good facilities. We stayed in early November and despite the bad weather, the cottage was cosy and warm. Secured garden, which our dogs loved. Lovely views from the cottage towards the sea and within easy travelling distance to the town of Rye.

Very spacious and comfortable. Welcome pack was a lovely touch. Oven just needs a good clean and more mugs provided, there was only 4. Clearly some had been broken along the way and not replaced. Hot tub was a great addition especially for teenage son! Great base to explore the area. Hosts Nina and Mark very friendly and helpful.

  • "Wow The cottage was amazing."

We had two dogs with us and the garden was 100% secure which was one of my main reasons for booking as both my dogs like to run off. On arrival the owner was cleaning out the lovely hot tub which was a god send after long walks with the children and dogs. The welcome pack was the best we have had on a cottage break and the kitchen facilities and information booklets were second to non. Also the internet and sky tv package was by far the best we have had on a cottage break which pleased the wife as me and my son watched Arsenal beat palace on the first night lol. Great cottage and great location to many walks and town centres 100% recommend willow cottage.

Beautiful property. Furnished to a very high standard (Fabulous Night Owl bedding and Villeroy & Bosch crockery). The cottage was immaculate, bright, light and very tastefully furnished. Very dog friendly, throws provided for sofas, poo bin in garden etc. The garden was delightful and immaculate. The views across fields to the sea was outstanding. I was lucky eith the weather and was able to relax in the hot tub aftet a busy day enjoying the view. The owners provide the best welcome pack I have ever seen, wine, beer, milk, eggs & bacon, bread, condiments, crisps and snacks, tea, coffee, sugar. If you arrived frazzled you are good to go for delicious breakfast , drinks snd nibbles. I particularly enjoyed a nice espresso coffee (machine and pods provided). Top quality eco friendly cleaning products, loo roll, dishwasher tabs provided. Myself and my two spaniels had a lovely, relaxing, comfortable week at Willow Cottage and felt totally re-charged. Willow Cottage is gorgeous and myself and the dogs will definately be back.

We would thoroughly recommend Willow Cottage to friends and family and if we return to the area in the future we would definitely stay at Willow Cottage again. Thank you so much.

  • "Willow Cottage is located in a quiet location a short drive from the beautiful town of Rye."

It is spacious and being open plan (downstairs), makes it a perfect property for entertaining/socialising etc. Upstairs is bright and airy with great views from the twin bedroom. The kitchen is very well-equiped with most things you may need including a Nespresso machine & milk warmer. Fantastic, generous Welcome Pack. Some great boardgames and jigsaws. Hot tub was fabulous. Just perfect in every way. Outside there was a good selection of chairs, sunbeds (!) as well as a gas BBQ although sadly we didn't use it. Spacious with a small lawned area. The only thing which was disappointing was the settee/lounge furniture was uncomfortable esp one (bed settee??) and not as per the photos shown.

The owner very kindly left a welcome pack including wine, milk, orange, bacon, eggs, bread, butter, cakes and crisps which was much appreciated. • "Willow cottage was ideal for us and our spaniel, the owners have thought of everything."

The property is open plan downstairs, modern, spacious, comfortable and well equipped with quality furniture, kitchen appliances and utensils. There's extra thoughtfulness with the welcome hamper and goodies in the fridge, we were well provided for. Another extra was a bed, bowls, towel and furniture cover for our spaniel to enjoy a home from home, who could ask for more. The garden is secure and has lovely views towards the sea, we visited in March so not the time to sit outside but can imagine it would be delightful in the summer with patio doors that can be opened fully, we didn't use the hot tub either! The rural location just outside Rye is peaceful but near enough to the town for sightseeing and shopping or Camber and Winchelsea for beach walks. We hope to come again, it is an interesting part of the country and this cottage ticks all the boxes on our wish list.

It's very well equipped and the welcome pack was amazing!!!! The dog was extremely well catered for too with dog bowls, poo bags and throws for the sofa so they can snuggle up to you. This was definitely a plus as usually properties insist that dogs aren't allowed on furniture. It was so peaceful too, all you could hear were the sheep!!! The weather wasn't brilliant but we had some lovely days out. The steam train ride from Dungeness to Hythe was great and being able to hop off at different stations along the way was great. The beaches around are quite shingley , Winchelsea Beach being the nearest. There's a fantastic cafe there. We would definitely return to Willow Cottage once we've explored some other places.

Once part of the owner’s home this large, light and airy wing has been lovingly transformed into a beautiful holiday home, welcoming couples and families who wish to stay somewhere rural, yet close to Rye and within a short drive of Camber Sands.

If this beautiful property seems a little familiar then you may recognise it as once being the former home of Spike Milligan, the comedian, writer and actor, who lived in the property and is now buried at Winchelsea, just a few miles away.

Both delightful bedrooms have lovely views.

The king-size master bedroom has outside access with steps leading down into the garden, so you can enjoy the sounds of a dawn chorus from the comfort of your bedroom with the French doors ajar, or you can step down into the garden without waking the rest of your fellow guests.

The beautiful dog secure private garden/ terrace with BBQ is a fantastic and secure area for your dogs to play, It also features a fabulous hot tub, where you can enjoy the view to the sea.

A family bathroom completes this first floor, which is just the place for someone who likes to relax in a deep, warm bubble bath, while the ground floor wet room is perfect for those who like to feel the jets of water, washing away the day’s activities before settling down to relax.

The well-equipped kitchen with central island and breakfast bar, is ideal for grabbing a quick breakfast before heading out for the day, while the dining area is perfect for enjoying a relaxed home-cooked meal.

On a summer’s evening, why not open the patio doors leading out to the garden and dine alfresco?

When it’s time to retire inside, snuggle down on one of the comfy sofas and for those guests using the sofa bed, a handy screen has been provided for your privacy.

Whisk the ones who mean most away to Willow Cottage.

About the location

RYE

Camber 5 miles; Hastings 12 miles; Battle 16 miles.

Rye is a 13th century cinque port in East Sussex, host to the River Rother, Romney Marshes and a history dating back before the Norman Conquest. A cobbled town offering an excellent array of unusual shops, antique emporiums, galleries selling local artist paintings and pottery, Rye also has a delightful range of tea rooms, restaurants, pubs and historic inns. There is also a weekly general market on Thursdays, as well as a farmers’ market every Wednesday morning. The town played host to BBC film crews for nine weeks in the summer of 2014, while filming of the TV series Mapp and Lucia took place, which has now been made into a DVD. All coastal scenes were filmed in nearby Camber Sands and bits of filming also took place in Hastings and the Tenterden Town railway station. Walkers and birdwatchers can enjoy a footpath leading across the marshes to Camber Castle built by Henry VIII. Local attractions include miniature or full-size steam train rides, local vineyards, stately homes, castles, gardens and beaches, including the beautiful nearby Camber Sands. Artists and photographers will especially enjoy the scenery; big skies, winding roads, and picturesque villages with ancient inns and tea shops. A truly relaxing and wonderful holiday destination.
