  • "What an idyllic spot!"

    The cottage was very well-equipped and very comfortable. It was delightful to sit and watch the squirrels, ponies and chickens. We also had a couple of late evening visits from the local fox. The owners were incredibly helpful. Useful rail links from Meopham station into Central London and the Kent Coast. An ideal base for exploring Kent. We will definitely return.

  • "Gary and Lucy are really friendly, they could not do enough for us."

    The place was really comfy and spotless with everything you need. The doors overlooked the garden where we saw squirrels and foxes frolicking on the lawn. The horses and dogs also came to visit. It is a great location for getting out and about with lots of National Trust and English Heritage properties to visit. We had wonderful time and will definitely return.

  • "Fantastic, spotlessly clean property."

    Very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. An ideal base for exploring North Kent and South London, close to Brands Hatch if you enjoy motor racing. Gary & Lucy are friendly but not intrusive. Their ponies, chickens and dogs also welcome you, particularly if you supply carrots and throw balls. Lots of birds, squirrels and foxes come right up to the property (badgers too but we didn’t see any). Will definitely return.

  • "A lovely holiday home in beautiful surroundings."

    The accommodation was well set out although the shower room was a bit tight for us larger persons. We enjoyed the wildlife, foxes and badgers and entertaining grey squirrels. There are loads of historic properties to explore and the countryside was beautiful with bluebells everywhere we went. Thank you for facilitating a relaxing break.

  • "We really needed this holiday as life at home is so hectic."

    It was everything we wanted and needed. The owners could not do more for us, they were lovely.The property had everything needed, well equipped and comfortable. Lovely to look out at the ponies, squirrels and chickens. The badgers came for our food but only when they were sure we were asleep. The woods had bluebells and primroses. Very relaxing atmosphere, perfect.

  • "We cannot recommend Badger View Highly enough, a really first rate property!"

    Gary and Lucy are the perfect hosts. The property was sparklingly clean with quality furnishing and fittings and they provided us with everything we needed for a wonderful stay over Christmas. (Thank you for our Christmas card!) We especially loved the location, wonderfully secluded, nestled in private grounds, with only the lovely little horses, birds and cheeky squirrels to keep us company, it offered us much needed peace and quiet, absolutely perfect. A bonus was, we knew Gary and Lucy were always on hand for any enquiries, which they answered promptly. We're really looking forward to staying there again next year. Colour us impressed.   • "Absolutely lovely place, so peaceful, really enjoyed sitting looking out at the wildlife playing in the delightful gardens."

    Gary and Lucy really lovely people, so helpful. My partner is slightly unsteady on his feet and struggled getting across the step into the property, mentioned this to Gary and by the time we had returned form a day out Gary made a step the ease access, really thoughtful. Cannot recommend Badger View enough, we use rental holiday lets a lot and this has to be one of the best we have stayed in. Tony and Mark

  • "Badgers and foxes delight."

    The owners of the cottage were extremely outgoing and welcoming. They explained all that we needed to know and were unobtrusive yet friendly and helpful. The cottage surpassed our expectations especially with its beautiful woodland setting. We were free to roam the woodland trail and to enjoy the animals that lived there and were cared for by the owners.

  • "We have just got back from a wonderful week staying at Badger View."

    Such lovely accommodation every need has been thought of. Spotlessly clean and so comfortable. Also there was an added bonus of being able to watch all the wildlife, which we found very entertaining. Bobby and Jesse the 2 dogs were so friendly and visited often. Not leaving out the 3 ponies they were such characters and so gentle. Thank you to Gary and Lucy who were wonderful and were always on hand if you needed to know anything. A very relaxing week. Highly recommend. Will be back most definitely.

    Secluded enough without feeling isolated A comfortable retreat for 2, with added wildlife. Never seen badgers before but here they visit every night, a wonderful thing to see. It was the perfect place ans a pleasure being there.

  • "Gary and Lucy were the perfect hosts."

    They were very easy to talk to, a good laugh and at the same time respected our privacy at all times. Badger View certainly lived up to it's name, although it could easily be named, Badger, Fox, Squirrel, Pony, Chicken, Dog and Cat View, thanks to the abundant wildlife and pets we watched from our patio. We very much hope to return soon.

    The property is gorgeous, clean and the best ever cottage we have stayed in. If you are an animal lover this is the place to go, you can while away the time watching the antics of the squirrels, then there's Jessie and Bobby, collies, Bobby loves you to throw his ball for him. There are also badgers and foxes to ge seen. To finish it off there are three beautiful Shetland ponies, who love carrots. We had a fabulous stay, didn't want to come home, we will definitely be going back.

  • "A magical place to stay."

    To go to bed after watching the badgers feeding and to wake up to acrobatic squirrels at the bird table was amazing. The little ponies came to visit together with the dogs for a ball game. The owners couldn’t have been nicer and the accommodation was immaculate. The area is perfect for visiting National Trust properties, we visited one each on our four days.

    We loved looking at the animals and the birds,. The cottage was well furnished and equipped, The owners were so friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. The only drawback was the bathroom was a little cramped and there was no towel rail just a loop. Our towels got wet very quickly but there was a clothes line in the garden.     There is a great road network for exploring Kent,and everywhere is easily accessible.Gary and Lucy are perfect hosts and their dogs Bobby and Jess are really playful,they also have 3 Shetland ponies which graze on the grass outside of the accommodation.This is a nature lovers dream,with squirrels and the resident fox also making frequent appearances.I would highly recommend a holiday here.

    The accommodation is small but ideal for two, everything you need is provided. What makes it special are the lovely owners, Gary and Lucy and their animals (ponies, dogs, cats, koi carp) and the wildlife that live there.     The property has its own sanctuary for waifs and strays, 2 sheep dogs, 3 small ponies, chickens, a cat and several rescued foxs living in attached woodland area. All in all a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend this property for a chilling holiday.

  • "Such a lovely tranquil setting overlooking a pretty woodland garden."

    We loved the wildlife, foxes on the lawn, squirrels and birds, and of-course the owners hilarious miniature Shetland Ponies who came to visit everyday hoping for carrots! The cottage has everything including a DVD and large library of films which is not in the description. Only thing to watch out for is the private lane leading to the owners property is full of deep pot holes so don't arrive in the dark or you could damage your car. Had to drag ourselves away, hoping to return.

    Gary and Lucy are lovely hosts that made us feel welcome and went out of their way to help us when we had problems with our car nothing was to much for them a big thank you to them both. The cottage is well equipped and met all our needs with great views into the garden where there is plenty of wildlife to watch.The setting is very tranquil and relaxing and we enjoyed the visits from their dogs and ponies. It is within easy reach of tourist attractions and there is plenty to see and do. We would recommend a stay here to our family and friends.

  • "What wonderful hosts Lucy and Gary were, they were lovely, warm, friendly people, and particularly the two friendly border collies Jess and Bob, so obedient and also affectionate."

    The house was very welcoming, spotless clean and very comfortable in the most beautiful location to either stay in or go out. The house was well provided for as we love to cook, all the crockery and cutlery you needed was available. There is so much to see and do here, we are in both NT and EH and for this you are very well provided for. The scenery around about is pretty and easy to get to places with good roads. We also visited Canterbury a place we have wanted to visit for many years and it lived up to its expectations, beautiful. Thank you so much for all being lovely we will be back to what felt like our little oasis in the clearing of the woods. Kind wishes ti you both hope to see you again Kath and Paul XX

  • "Gary and Lucy were wonderful hosts, most helpful, without intrusion."

    Their two dogs Bobby and Jess, 3 Shetland ponies, rescued chickens, squirrels and the regularly visiting foxes were a joy to see each day. Bobby, sometimes accompanied by Jess, visited each morning to have his ball, stick or pine cone, thrown across the lawn, which he duly retrieved and nosed towards you for another go. The accommodation lacked nothing that we could have wanted, and a regular walk through the owners adjoining woodland was much appreciated. So quiet with only the sound of birdsong to break the silence. Within 20 miles are numerous places we visited, , Chartwell (Churchill’s home), Ightam Mote, Chatham Dockyard museum, Upnor Castle, Leeds Castle and Knowle Castle all worth a visit. Our week there was over too soon and we wish them every success.

    The lodge was spotlessly clean and very cosy. Gary and Lucy made us very welcome and kept us supplied with fresh eggs from their chickens. The grounds of the main house are a haven for wildlife and we enjoyed watching the foxes, squirrels and birds from our patio doors. The area is great for visiting the numerous National Trust properties nearby, our favourite being Igtham Mote which is spectacularly beautiful. Nearby towns of Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Rochester and Whitstable are charming and well worth a visit. Ian & Lynn - Derbyshire

Marvelous estates like Penshurst Place, Ever Castle, Knole Park, Ightham Mote, Scotty Castle are really worthwhile visiting, beautiful gardens and mansions. Not to forget interesting towns like Rochester. All in all we had a great time and we would like to thank Lucy and Gary and their two lovely dogs.

    Gary and Lucy are perfect hosts and so friendly and their lovely garden filled with wildlife that keep you gazing for hours! Not forgetting their two lovely dogs who are such fun. There are so many lovely places to visit and being RHS and NT members we have visited Sissinghurst, Hyde Hall, Chartwell, Emmetts Gardens, Ightham Mote and Wisley and lovely Biddenden vineyard. We even managed to find time for a game of Bowls at Borough Green and the club made us most welcome. Woodlands garden centre is a must, a great independent garden centre with a restaurant - Twig and Spoon for fabulous food. You may need to book! Although we have done so much on our holiday we have left plenty more for a return visit. Looking forward to seeing you both again soon.

    ..practically perfect in every way. It is decorated, furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard and in an idyllic location. Gary and Lucy could not have made us feel more welcome and we are missing Bobby and Jess already! You will never tire of watching the wildlife in the beautiful garden and the tranquilty of the surroundings is so relaxing. Add to all this the many excellent pubs only 10 minutes away in whatever direction you choose to go and you have got yourself the most wonderful holiday. We will most certainly be back.

  • "Lovely place to stay."

    The grounds are beautiful, tranquil setting with lots of wildlife to amuse us. The owners are delightful & extremely helpful. Location is good, close to rail & bus services, great pubs. We feel the photo of Badger's View on Sykes web & booking site does not do the cottage justice, it is much prettier than the current photo depicts.

    The two dogs are delightful. The grounds are gorgeous it is a little bit of paradise on earth, with the added bonus of wildlife. We will visit again when possible.

  • "The cottage was cosy and comfortable."

    We were snowbound for two days. This wasn't a problem as we were constantly entertained by the antics of the squirrels, foxes and magpies. Gary and Lucy are excellent hosts, and they made us feel so welcome. The cottage is ideally situated for viewing a number of National Trust Properties, Leeds Castle,and Hever Castle. The local Spar shop is more than adaquate for stocking up on essentials items, and is within easy walking distance. We will definitely visit again...... in the Summer .... hopefully.

  • "This was a wonderful choice: A very comfortable home away, nicely planned and decorated, and with everything we needed on hand."

    There are lovely surroundings with woodland and wildlife offering interest and beauty, but there is no sense of isolation, as there are many tourist destinations and metropolitan facilities in easy reach. The owners are excellent hosts with just the right balance of concern for our wellbeing, and respect for privacy, We loved their two beautiful dogs, as well as the fresh-laid eggs provided from their chickens, and really enjoyed the peaceful environment they had created within the large grounds of their property. We found the whole experience immensely relaxing and restoring and would unhesitatingly recommend this holiday let to all.

This delightful, detached lodge is situated in the grounds of the owner's home, close to the village of Culverstone Green in Kent.

You enter through French doors into a light and welcoming sitting room with splendid views over lawn and trees, just the place to snuggle up together and enjoy a film or just relax in each otherÂ’s company.

The dining area is perfectly situated so a cosy dinner for two can be unhurried and enjoyed to its fullest while still taking in the vista.

You reach the well-equipped kitchen down one step where there is everything you will need, whether you are creating a delicious dinner with romance in mind, or just a mid-day snack before setting off for a country walk or cycle ride.

From the kitchen you enter into the spacious double bedroom complete with en-suite shower room and French doors out onto your private decked area, perfect for sitting together and planning an exciting day out over morning coffee, or reflecting on a day filled with walks and wildlife over a glass of wine looking into the woods beyond.

Whatever the weather outside, this lodge will be at the perfect temperature, as at the flick of a switch, the warm air changes to air conditioning and the temperature drops, so no need for restless nightsÂ’ sleep when the temperature rises.

The owners have taken great care to offer guests as much privacy as possible with carefully positioned screening so only the owner's two friendly dogs may make an uninvited appearance!

CULVERSTONE GREEN

Sevenoaks 11.5 miles; Chatham 18 miles.

The village of Culverstone Green virtually joins the village of Meopham, which is the longest village in Kent, and both offer a good choice of local amenities. This area of Kent is an ideal location from which to explore the Medway and its towns. Rochester has the tallest castle in England, a beautiful cathedral and Guildhall museum. Chatham offers Upnor Castle sitting on the river banks, and the historic dockyard, with fascinating maritime heritage attractions, where you can climb aboard 3 historic war ships, visit galleries and museums with information from days of Spanish Armada to more recent dates. The area also enjoys several nature reserves, country parks, National Trust and English Heritage properties, Brands Hatch racing circuit and other sports and leisure attractions to suit all ages. Within easy travelling distance you can explore the cosmopolitan cathedral city of Canterbury. Or for the more adventurous, why not try a day trip over to France, with Ebbsfleet Station just ten miles away?
