  • "Parking - Tight driveway, had to move cars around due to family vehicles."

Walkway to property. - Some areas lit, many steps, some uneven Lounge Very small living area, sofa uncomfortable, limited heating downstairs. Bedroom - No heating upstairs, very cold in the morning, - En-suite, no privacy glass, needed blind down all the time. Owners entering property whilst out - we left the window open upstairs, so totally understood why owners entered property to close as part of their Insurance, however we left a light on in the kitchen on first day to guide us back, but had been turned off when we returned.

Thank you for your feedback. With regards to your negative comments on line which contradicts the fantastic glowing comments you left in our visitor book. We would like to address the unfair and unjustified points you make. 1. You had adequate secure and off road parking with minimum inconvenience. Lots of properties do not have this facility. 2. All areas have lighting from exiting your car to the point that you enter the property there are 4 PAR's and 2 permanent lights that can be turned on including 1 light directly above the door. 3. To address your concerns of steps to the property it is highlighted in the details given by Sykes these steps have been classified by the holiday company to be perfectly safe and even and would not pose any problem to the able bodied. 4. The lounge/diner is a large open plan L shaped area approx 16 ft x 16 ft. This is considered by the holiday company to be more than adequate for 99% of all guests which it has been. 5. The sofa is more than comfortable for 90% of all guests however this is something we will address for next season. 6. The heating is considered more than adequate for the size of the property 3 kW. 7. If windows are closed when out for security purposes we would have needed to enter to close as we were going out and needed to ensure the property was secure - it may be this would have helped to keep the property warm. 8. Privacy glass is justified however the blind has been more than acceptable up until now for every guest. We do feel we offer extremely good service and facilities and most of your comments conflicted with your conversations with us and lovely comments as mentioned in our guest book - this seems slightly hypocritical. • "We had a lovely week at Paddock View."

The nice weather was a welcome bonus! Lesley and Steve were very friendly, and helpful hosts. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. The bedroom on the upper floor was very spacious and comfortable, with an en-suite. Good quality bed linen and towels. The downstairs area is open-plan, and spacious enough. However, we found the settee uncomfortable for anything more than 10 minutes The rental property is situated at the rear of the owner's home, accessed through the gardens. The photos in the listing include several images of the owner's property as well as the rental accommodation. Parking was a bit of an issue; there wasn't a dedicated space per se, and we had to shuffle spaces with the hosts' vehicles to gain access or exit. The use of the sun room / conservatory, like the gardens, were subject to the hosts not using them. Luckily, this was never an issue for us. The washing machine and laundry facilities are in the owner's house subject to a small charge for use, and consequently, to their being home!

  • "We were disappointed with Sykes unethical cancellation policy."

We made five bookings and are long term Sykes customers. Our fault I admit but booked this venue for the wrong week. Recognised our mistake almost instantly and attempted to contact Sykes to explain the error. We’re not even given the courtesy of a response other than to say there would be no refund. We will not be using Sykes platform in the future.

  • "Nice property."

Don't look for paddock view you will need to look for ridgeway. This is the name on the house. You park on the owners drive then walk through the garden to the property. The weekend we stayed was cold and raining. The property had one small heater that took a long time to warm up the property, so we left it on, the Owner monitored how much electricity we was using went in and turned it off when we was out. No pathways so not very safe to walk along the dark roads at night. So stayed in but the tv buzzed very annoying. We left 2 days early. In our opinion it didn't feel like a relaxing weekend felt we was being monitored.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Just to address the points you make. You mention we turned the heater off while you were out. We explained to you that our insurance may be null and void if guests leave on heating unattended. We considered this a safety issue under the circumstances and done the correct thing in line with our insurance policy. Sykes have kindly worded directions so that any guests will be looking for Ridgeways where Paddock View forms part of our main house. We have 3 signs in the garden to identify our property. Unfortunately as we live in a rural community the lanes are quiet at night, do not have pavements and are unlit. This is a plus for many of our guests who want a quiet retreat. We thank you once again for your comments. Property Owner

About the location

MAIDSTONE

Rochester 9 miles; Canterbury 20 miles

Kent's county town, Maidstone, lies at the heart of the Garden of England. Here orchards and hop gardens surround quaint villages and must-see heritage sights. In Maidstone visitors can indulge in a morning of retail therapy exploring the shops at Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre, before enjoying a cultured afternoon at Maidstone Museum & Bentlif Art Gallery. A popular place to visit is The Archbishop’s Palace, a 14th century building on the banks of the River Medway. Speaking of the river, why not climb aboard the Kentish Lady for a scenic cruise through the Maidstone Millennium River Park? Once you reach the Kent Life Museum, you can gain a fascinating insight into Kent’s rural history in bygone times, whilst an interesting day out can also be had examining the elaborate sleighs, sedan chairs and horse-drawn vehicles of the Tyrwhitt-Drake Museum of Carriages. Although Maidstone is a thriving town full of restaurants, pubs and theatres, it’s surrounded by stunning countryside. You can indulge in afternoon tea in a pretty tea room or enjoy a pint of local ale in one of the many pubs in the picturesque villages of Lenham, Marden, Headcorn and Yalding, all scattered around this beautiful county. Walk or cycle the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or venture south to Dover, for a trip across the channel, or stop off at the National Trust property Stoneacre. A visit to this part of Kent would not be complete without a day exploring Leeds Castle, said to be the loveliest castle in the world. Once home to Henry VIII’s first wife, Catherine of Aragon, its opulent rooms reveal stories of English royalty throughout the ages, whilst its glittering lake, 500 acres of glorious parkland and fun maze are great fun to explore. Maidstone is a bustling county town, with so much to do on its doorstep.
