  • "We had a very nice stay at Little Yaffle."

The Hamlet of Martin was lovely and quiet and pretty. The garden was really nice even though it was getting towards the end of the season. The pub was 2 minutes' walk away and getting to various coastal towns such as Deal, Sandwich and St Margaret's Bay easy.

so glad you enjoyed yourselves and Ossie had somd fab walks.Just want to thank you for leaving everything so tidy and clean.Real bonus for us as both still bit knackered after covid/ flu vac this wk so blessings on yr house.Early i know but have a great christmas.xas Property Owner

  • "Yes this place is in a very quiet village but be prepared for the local agricultural noise associated with the countryside."

Thankfully the garden is secured away from the road (excellent for a dog), as is the parking, because the huge tractors that rumbled past on and off during the day will open your eyes. There is a limited amount of dog walking area locally but the spinney and unofficial "paths" make for enough dog exercise. As there are no shops in the immediate vicinity, be prepared to take some food items with you (15 mins to large shops). The property owner Abbi was lovely and very helpful and the supplies left by her made my stay enjoyable. The village is quite small and pretty much the only facility there is The Lantern Pub.... definitely worth the visit, a little pricey but the food and drink is excellent. Be prepared, take wellies if you want to walk as it is a very rural area and the roads are quite narrow and the tracks are quite muddy...all in all, no complaints.

  • "We had quite a short stay really ."

Not long enough quite honestly The property is lovely and we were met by Abi who is the perfect host and gave us all the guidance we needed. She is the kind of person you warm to immediately A couple of nice touches too Some gorgeous eggs which have to be the best eggs ever and a lovely cake which went down well with a coffee. The property has an ambience about it which my wife Jen commented on as soon as we were in and settled .It has a natural karma about it which was tangible. You know when a place feels right ,and this absolutely did It is quirky which adds to the charm .Its comfortable ,has everything you need if you went down the self catering route. We ate out mostly .We recommend the Lantern just up the road .Would have walked but it was a little damp that evening .The following day was better with sunshine so it made up for it . The garden is beautiful so when we're back it is definitely a place we'll spend with a good book. The location is so quiet save a few farm vehicles and there is absolutely no light pollution . Little Yaffle has to be up there with the best of them Abi will explain where the name little Yaffle came from .We had no idea Don't google it .Abi's explanation is much more interesting . Don't alter anything Abi.We loved it. Till next time x Trevor and Jennifer from Essex ( near Maldon)

The garden is particularly lovely and peaceful. Little Yaffle is an annex to the hosts' bungalow but that the set up is such that you feel disconnected from the main property, as the hosts enter through a different door and have a main garden to the rear whilst Little Yaffle has the front garden. About the location

ST MARGARET'S AT CLIFFE

Dover 4 miles; Deal 5.5 miles; Folkestone 12 miles; Canterbury 18.5 miles

This delightful little spot rests along the famous and idyllic White Cliffs of Dover, on the South Foreland Heritage Coast of Kent. St Margaret's at Cliffe also contains the neighbouring village of St Margarate's Bay, both of which offer a choice of charming local amenities, you can also find the Dover Patrol Memorial, the Pines Garden Tea Room and Museum and the striking Foreland Lighthouse - all of which are worth a look around. A gap in the cliffs presents a lovely shingle beach with opportunities for rock-pooling and a pub serving food which overlooks it as well as being opposite the house previously occupied by Noel Coward and Ian Fleming. This is the point from which swimmers of the English Channel depart. Dover sits just four miles away with it's famous castle, attractive seafront, pier and marina and much more to see and do. The Kent Downs AONB is within a stone's throw for avid walkers and cyclists, while many more characterful coastal spots can be found close by; Folkestone, Ramsgate and Margate to name but a few. The unique and striking cathedral city of Canterbury is also within reach for a different experience.

Note: Check in time is 4pm onwards at the property.
You will be pleased to learn that this property is roughly between 1/4 and 1/2 mile from the Martin Mill railway station and is only 2 stops away from Sandwich which is very handy for the British Open.
