Also the staircase to the mezzanine floor is dangerous due to only having one stair rail and slippery coating on the stairs.
We actually left early due to these problems.

We love the little village and the little walk for dogs literally opposite the cottage,
The cottage itself is well equiped and comfortabel. It is a dark cottage so better lighting would help. The arm chairs are now getting worn and dated. Overall we love the little cottage and will definitely go back. Braothwaite is a great location for many walks. The little shop is just around the coener and is lovely.

Cottage was accurately described - sofa bed needs a thicker mattress as the current one is too thin - main bed also needs a new mattress as you can feel the springs on the current one - apart from that we enjoyed our stay and it is a lovely cottage - we would stay again in this lovely village if the improvements were made as suggested

The cottage well equipped, clean and cosy. The bed and sofa bed very comfortable. Location perfect for stunning mountain hikes from the door, with a small village shop over the bridge. The Royal Oak pub, highly recommended for food, a minutes walk away. A 5 min walk to The Coledale Inn, with a stunning beer garden to sit in. The village of Braithwaite is picture perfect, a 10 drive away from Keswick. We would love to return one day, thank you for an amazing stay.

The cottage is ideally situated in a wonderful location and the village shop has everything you need. The only slight drawback of the cottage was the sofa which desperately needs replacing but we still can’t wait to return. Many thanks

Close to everything you need including lovely walks right on your doorstep.
The only thing to point out is that the property is very dark even with the lights on. You have to get ready downstairs or in the bathroom as it’s far too dark upstairs near the dresser. Especially if you’re a girl and need lighting.
Other than that lovely stay and would return for sure.

The mezzanine floor bedroom was lovely and it was a bonus to have access to Netflix and Prime Video for nights’ in. Location is great and the Royal Oak pub is a minute’s walk away and is a great place for food and drink. We’ve booked another visit in October.

Aside from that, the place was excellent with a large and very comfortable bed - a big plus for me! The kitchen was very clean and well equipped. The wifi was great, the smart TV was a useful distraction and the pub round the corner is very welcoming with good beers and is dog friendly. There's excellent walking right from the door and Keswick is an easy drive. A really nice property in an excellent location.

"Thoroughly enjoyed our Xmas holiday."
Great location with easy access to surrounding areas,two pubs within 5 minutes walk and a local shop.also having cottage one means your parking space is outside the court yard which can be a tight fit when full.well equipped kitchen meant we was easily able to cook a full Xmas dinner.the best shower I have had in years,perfect after a long walk.just a couple of small issues, a toilet roll holder would of been useful.the large puddle directly outside the front door needs filling in so you can enter with dry feet.but the main fault is the sofa bed,impossible to sit on as you just sink into the metalwork,really is only fit for a skip.however the positives far outweigh the negatives and we would happily stay there again

"Overall a lovely cottage, however there are some issues that need sorting:
1) The bed is broken."
There has been a piece of plasterboard placed as a repair but this is broken
2) The information pack is out of date, it is faded in parts so you can't read it
3) there was no tin opener, but my wife found one in the laundry. She commented that the laundry was a terrible mess and it smelled bad.
4) the settee is broken
5) Blunt kitchen knives

"Another lovely stay at Cottage 1."
Very comfortable and plenty of room for two people and a dog. The new bathroom was great - amazing shower. Pet gate was useful. It would be nice to have a couple of pint glasses please. We found the move from a Saturday to a Friday changeover to be a disadvantage. This meant taking an extra day of annual leave and the traffic is much worse on a Friday. Overall a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location.

"The cottage was in a fantastic village, very peaceful close to the pubs and shop."
One of the things that I thought would have been better is if there was an iron in the cottage, wasn't sure if it was in the laundry room but with COVID would be better to be in each cottage. One other point it would be better if there was more than one key so each of you could go out separately.

"We were allocated Cottage 2 on arrival instead but this actually did us a favour as we had come directly from a narrow boat holiday and having the extra bedroom gave us more storage space for the things we didn’t need for our week in the cottage."
Location was excellent will use again in the future. Cottage clean with all amenities. Could possibly do with a couple of occasional tables for drinks in the evening whilst watching TV.

"Braithwaite is a excellent village."
Great base for lots of walking, shop and pubs are lovely. Really close to Keswick, cottage overall is good, however there were a few niggles... dripping tap in the kitchen very annoying and the fridge needs attention as the door doesn’t close properly on it. Bed was comfy, hob was very good, could do with more information about recycling as the bins were overflowing and we didn’t know which day it was collected. We ended up bringing ours home and putting it in our own recycling bin. All said we had a lovely week in cottage 1.

"Lovely setting & area , but we question your score of 4 ticks."
Especially compared with other properties we have rented with Sykes. So many little 'niggles', such as the broken fridge door, shower door & no light at the bottom of the stairs.
After the fantastic stay at the Nook the previous week disappointed to receive no welcome pack. Not even a pint of milk.
This place looks tired which is surprising as presumably it was empty for 3 months earlier in the year

Very clear directions to cottage. Larger cottage very comfortable for two people and dog. Parking slightly tricky, but sorted quickly by lovely owner. Beautiful surroundings with walks from the door. Recommend Ivy House for food, which can be take away. Coledale Inn is dog friendly, has a beer garden with great views, and also doing take away food.
