  • "Hi We have just returned back from a fabulous week at the property."

I do feel the bathroom could have been abit cleaner as there were dead insects and large cobwebs in the bathroom. This is a third time staying at the garden cottage and feel I would be nice if some repairs could be done with the road leading upto the cottage as there are some rather big pot holes now .

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We are pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. We take all of your comments on board, regarding the cleanliness of the bathroom, and will ensure that your feedback is passed onto the relevant teams. • "A bit disappointed with the fact that the shower was not in place when we arrived."

Had been warned about this a couple of hours before arrival. Plumber came on the Monday to fit a new shower. However it started to leak the next day. I contacted Sykes who said they would inform the plumber. Never saw anyone for the rest of the week and the leak got progressively worse. As we left the cleaner informed us that the shower had been like this since June and that every occupant had been complaining about it, so not very happy.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We are sorry to hear of the issue that you experienced with the shower, we do take all comments on board. We will ask Property Services Team to investigate. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

Extra special touches such as fresh scones, milk and a bottle of wine on our arrival where a pleasant surprise. The path upto the cottage is very uneven and narrow. This was the only negative. Our stay was amazingly comfortable and despite the usual wet weather we were situated in an area of beautiful views and close to all the tourist areas.

However, there is some basic maintenance which needs attention. The overhead shower drips continually and the expelair isn't working. Also the DVD player is faulty (blurred and plays in black and white only).

The peaceful location and spectacular views more than make up for any problems getting there. There is one thing, this is our third visit and the second time we had to buy paper. This year it was toilet paper, last year it was kitchen paper. Take some paper supplies and you will have a good break.

  • "Whilst the unit was of a reasonable standard in terms of furnishings and fittings with beautiful views it was impractical."

There are two improvements that need to be made which are of critical importance. 1. The entry road leading into the property is not significantly paved and this is not indicated anywhere. This proved challenging to get a Mercedes A180 in and out of the property with the underside of the car getting scuffed on the poor terrain. It should be indicated that low vehicles may struggle and give the customer to choose an alternative property. I would have done so. 2. The WIFI was absolutely atrocious. I did continuous speedtests and the results indicated a maximum download of 1.82 Mbps and a maximum upload of 0.66 MBps. This was totally insufficient for either of us to work, e-mails would not download or sent properly, documents could not be uploaded and video conferencing was absolutely impossible. Expectations should be at least 50Mbps or this should be clearly indicated. The only TV app that could be handled by the atrocious WIFI speed was Netflix with all other apps unable to function properly. My Wife and I could not do anything and we had to find cafes with more suitable WIFI to conduct basic working activities. If anyone stays here intending to do work, please note that this would be impossible with a speed below 2 Mbps. This is why I personally would not start here again as it was an issue for us to sit in cafe's 2 hrs a day just to do basic work activities. If you don't have to do any work, don't need to use social media and have a car with significant ground clearance to get in and out then this would be suitable.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of your issues regarding the Wi-Fi, unfortunately as we were not made aware of this during your stay we were unable to attend to see if it could be rectified. We always recommend guests check the suitability of a property and any access requirements prior to booking. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

  • "Lovely quiet apartment in a suberb location."

Yes it’s a little walk down into Keswick but gives you a chance to enjoy a countryside walk. Once onto the main road turn down onto the walk/cycle track on the left side and it brings you near to the town. The cottage was warm and had every kitchen utensil. Provided washing up liquid etc. Beds comfy. Plenty of hot water for showers and baths. Would stay again

  • "Lovely property to use as a base for exploring the beautiful area of Keswick and beyond."

Stunning views from the living room although the large front window would benefit from a blind as other guests can see right into the house as they walk from the car park to their holiday apartments. The approach to the house was rutted and narrow, which was not made clear in the description. Luckily, we have a large car, but I imagine that a less powerful car would struggle with this.

Couldn't fault it really. The extractor fan in the (windowless) bathroom wasn't working, so we reported it to the agent when they courtesy-called us on day 2 and it was fixed within 48 hours. Please note: the keycode is incorrectly stated in the property's information folder. The 150m winding dirt track leading to the paved driveway would be an issue for low-slung vehicles - deeply rutted in places and in need of repair. It would be helpful to mention this in the listing - better to forewarn than for it to be a major problem for someone on arrival. It's a narrow, winding single-track with no passing places and would be difficult to reverse if you were to meet one of the other guests coming the other way. And if you intend to walk out after dark, pack a torch! We enjoyed our stay, the views and the setting were lovely and we wouldn't hesitate to book it again.

We love coming to Garden Cottage and have stayed there several times since 2009. But…. The only thing that needs attention is the shared driveway, (not the owners responsibility) this is in bad state of repair and makes access difficult, not good for low vehicles. Great views, peaceful setting. It would have been helpful to know that there IS a washing machine (not listed in the details). The negatives - I say this as we really want to return and need a few improvements. Please provide more tea plates (only 2 !! ) and towels (1 each for a 3 night/4 day stay was not enough. The toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and agree with previous reviewer that the light switch near cupboard must be shortened. Would we stay again ? Absolutely - stunning!

The accommodation is perfectly laid out with everything you need for either an active or a relaxing holiday. The location is a bit out of the town which makes for a very quiet and peaceful stay. It is only a short walk along the old railway path into the busy town. If I could change something, I would shorten the light cord so the cupboard door doesn’t hit the shade. We never got used to that all week. I would also add a shaver socket to the bathroom, our electric toothbrush needs one to keep it topped up. Some may need to shave too. This is certainly one of those places that we will return to.

I was particularly pleased that the TV offered Freeview, iPlayer, Amazon video and Netflix as the weather was so bad and usually never stay indoors but glad to have this, as most holiday lets don't. But not so at Garden Cottage! Everything works and works well! The setting is perfect and the views towards Cat Bells and beyond are heavenly. I tried to fault it in some way but all that I could find is a light fitting outside the bathroom which bangs against a cupboard door each time it is opened.
