  • "We booked for 7 nights and had glorious weather, the bungalow is in such a quiet location, it was so peaceful staying there, the garden is secure, and Wi-Fi was great, no passing traffic as the property was nearly a mile off the road."

  • "Great place to stay, well off the beaten track."

The accommodation is clean and has everything you need, a home from home. The owner Julie is friendly and helpful and is not far away if you need anything but respectful of your space. A pleasant garden to relax in. And an opportunity to handfeed some alpaca's and Llama's if you ask. Finally found somewhere with acceptable broadband and WIFI although you cant get the HD channels on the TV. The two large sofa's take a little getting used to as they are low and deep. there are a few steps within the property, beware of the one just inside the main bedroom, I tripped up it a couple of times in the night.

  • "This comment is about safety entering the cottage so this comment is more about the inaccuracy of Sykes Cottages description than anything to do with the owners, In Sykes description re the cottage all that was said was there are two steps up to the entry into the cottage."

So Sykes were not accurate on that point as they really should have said this cottage is really not suitable for the elderly or disabled. I am nearly 77 and awaiting a new hip and my husband 75 slight cripple due to a spine operation. He managed up and down not too badly but I had quite a struggle entering and leaving the property. There should have been a handrail if it was considered suitable for less able folk - not the owners fault but Sykes fault for not stating clearly that this property is unsafe for elderly or infirm. Equally dangerous going down as you stepped from step straight on to cobbles - no problem for young fit people. The cottage was spotless, beautiful and absolutely peaceful and the owners were lovely but I strongly recommend that you (Sykes) amend your description from please note there are two steps up to the property to maybe - THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR DISABLED OR ELDERLY. Thank you and I will be checking that this amendment is made or my husband and I will probably be uncertain as to whether to go with Sykes again which we always have done for many years past.

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs.
