Our Golden Wedding celebrations with our family could not have been better. The tranquility, privacy and freedom of the grounds was outstanding. Our dogs loved the space. Such a pretty location with a pub 200 yds away. Bowness and Windermere a short drive away for provisions. Plenty of attractions close by and pubs. Congratulations to the owners for making this an idyllic retreat. We know this will be hard to book again due to the high standard of this holiday let. Thank you for a most memorable week. "WE had a wonderful time at Green Yew - and everything was first rate and all the family really loved it."

We would really recommend this property first for its location as it was very close to everything and amenities , Gastro pubs etc but also within easy travelling distance to Lake District beauty spots and then lovely to come back to Winster out of the hustle and bustle which suited us down to the ground. As it was my 70th we had a few activities planned namely an Alpaca Trek which was @ The Helm and this again was only a short distance away - the weather held so we were grateful. The House itself was very comfortable and all the family settled in really well , lovely walks close by and The Brown Horse @ Winster was so easy to walk to and excellent food. Grasmere wasn't that far to travel to and we went to The Heaton Cooper Gallery and Mathilde's Cafe Bar which was easily accessible. All rooms light and airey and beds very comfy , it was also lovely and warm which was great as I was worried about that but I needn't have been - we didn't light the fire ! Wish we could have stayed another week we enjoyed it so very much and hopefully will return. 10/10 Thanks for a great break Kate and Malcolm Naylor

The property

Green Yew is an impressive newly refurbished 18th century farmhouse located in the little village of Winster, just a short distance from Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria.

Offering guests wonderful, open-plan living areas on the ground floor and luxurious bathrooms this holiday home is not to be missed if you are seeking a truly high-quality and comfortable escape to the Lake District.

You enter into an open-plan living space which serves as the hub of the home.

Fitted with a kitchen, a dining space for enjoying meals and a sitting area with a woodburning stove to keep you nice and toasty on a cold winter night.

For those longer stays, the farmhouse is fitted with a utility room with a washing machine and dryer which ensures your needs are met, especially after a long mountain hike!

There are several bathrooms and shower rooms to make sure there are never any morning rushes.

After a day of adventures in the vast countryside, take a much-needed dip in the bath to wash away any aching muscles.

Or for something a bit quicker, enjoy a steamy rinse down in the spacious shower.

When it's time to rest, there are plenty of bedrooms offering a range of sleeping arrangements.

Choose from three super king-size bedrooms or a twin where you can catch your rest before heading out nice and fresh the next day.

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away.
